hey guys i was looking to get my hands on some of the fire emblem games to try a new series (ROM style),
wiki tells me that the first game on GameBoy was:
Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade
so thats where i'm going to start... is that the best one to start from? whats the deal.

I started from Fire Emblem: Sacred Stones.
It's too good man. Seriously.
If you plan on playing ALL of them, then go for it, but I just love Sacred Stones to death. I even bought it for the GBA.

The first GBA one was Roy's game. Which I still call Sword of Seals regardless of that semi-official name.
I didn't like Sacred Stones, I mean... it wasn't bad... but I enjoyed Genealogy of the Holy War, Sword of Seals (aka The Binding Blade) and Blazing Sword more.
The new DS one is severely enjoyable but unless you know the story of Fire Emblem 1 you might want to wait for the English translation (if they ever make one).
For Binding Blade you'll want to find the English translation patch, but it shouldn't be too hard to come across. I'm currently hunting for a copy of Path of Radiance, I want to give it a try after finishing and somewhat enjoying Radiant Dawn on the Wii.

Ok halfway through the first fire emblem, which is like fire emblem VII by *** standards... (thanks shaya)

i dun think roy is in this one, but i see why lyn is an assist trophy.

HE USES MARCUS.
And no Roy isn't in that one (technically), FE7 is a prequel to the one Roy is in (FE6).
P.S. Marcus is meant to be a character to help you if needed in the earlier stages. He will remain at his current level of 'stats' throughout the entire game. Other characters will surpass him with not much effort.

continuing on what shaya said, don't promote any units before they reach level 20! roy actually does appear in the US version but only for a short bit.

What's the one with Ephraim and... the other twin girl. That was alright.
HOWEVER!!!
FE IV and FE V are definately the best.
Sigurd, Celice and Leaf are so kool.
Plus the game itself is ridiculously hard. c:

It was sorta hard for me to find the ROM let alone the english .ips for it. But I found it eventually. =] Definately the best one/s. First one is made of fail (the one with Marth), and lol, GBA ones are 10x easier. I haven't played the GCN one but it looks lame. Ike, though, makes it hott.

try FE7 on hector hard mode. you'll be pulling hairs out trying to finish that without losing anyone D:. most of the times you're trying to just stay alive and end up missing alot of the sidequests 
FE8 was probably the worst one to date, considering it was made after the other 2 GBA ones. i don't think i ever completed it. just got bored and gave up

I think I want to buy one, but I don't want to trade my old DS in for it.
(Mostly because I want my GBA reverse compatibility)
Seems like it's got a lot of cool features.
And Nintendo hasn't had any issues taking my money before.
Plus I guess new games coming out for it won't be compatible with the 1st and 2nd generation due to the dual touch screen functionality.

Anyway, for all who are interested this is where I'm keeping Australia's "Character Rank List" updated.
It contains a list of all tournaments I'm using as data. So it's a back up to also see how well some of our Ausies have done in specific tournaments.
I also made a program that automaticly generates the rank list tables from a text file containing tournament results. I'm not sure how Ankoku does his, but mine is probably most efficient

I really didn't realise Sonic was doing this well. I think it's all djbrowny though lol. Does the numbers of competitors in tourneys change its weighting?
Of course number of competitors change ratings.
The numbers used are very similar to Ankokus. Except we differentiate 5/6th from 7/8th. And we divide by 100 not 160 (but that division only applies to points and wouldn't change the ACTUAL rankings at all).
Perth is the only state that has not been able to provide results I can deem reliable. Just seeing Winner: Sam (Toon Link) vs Loser: Guy (Someone else) is not enough. I really really need the top 8 and their character usages for it to be reliable.
I define character usages as the characters a player used to WIN or do as well as they did. In other words the characters they were using before they got knocked out or the character they actually switched to if they lost a match.
From the videos I've seen Sam (the toon linker) switched to Snake to win a final after TL lost; but the results he posted did NOT mention Snake.
P.S. I believe there is a switch in the rankings with Mario and Luigi. I've been informed Luigi did not actually place at all, and the person used Mario instead (or something).
