skimming through Tucson's Facebook group, the 4th was what we decided, this will most likely be at the UofA, but I'm going to double check that they are open, since someone failed to do that last time.

I'll make a thread soon.

Made a thread.

Not to start drama, but after it has been said time and time again that we'd go no metaknight next season, then some how we jump to the japan ruleset, we should at least try out one or two tournaments with a metaknight ban.

Just within our meta game, for those who have given up metaknight or stop practicing against metaknight, gives us a disadvantage. At least give us one tournament with no metaknight. Just to see how it goes. It's only fair since we've been saying the bat would be banned all last season.

tl;dr I'm salty over metaknight :p

I think we're experimenting right now and having tourneys with and without. The upcoming tourney is MK Banned.

Edit: nvm it was but not anymore it looks like

Based on the previous discussions and the desires of the majority, Japanese ruleset is a much better way to go. I will post a post soon that summarizes the data more concisely. In short Metaknight is artificially buffed by the old ruleset and is not broken with the Japanese ruleset. Also a very important point is summarized by tuen in a previous post.

Basically because people use stage gimmicks to their advantage it makes them worse players.
It's the same concept as to why I am a better metaknight than those who use tornado more. When people are actually fighting and not using the stage, they learn to actually use their characters better. Another reason why I became good is because I very rarely counterpick gay. It increased my skill because I actually had to fight. This concept applies to every character in the game.

That is why playing on neutral stages will increase people's skill level.

It's basically common sense that metaknight is not bannable when the stages are only neutral. Many more matchups become very even such as falco, OLIMAR, diddy kong, ice climbers, snake, etc. Why ban a character who isn't broken. But as summarized previously, there are many more reasons.

Also in this state, 2 people use metaknight, which is less than 10% of the player base. That argument that he is overused doesn't apply to this state (in addition in every fighting game, the best character will be used a lot).

In short, it's just a mental obstacle to think he is not beatable. He is beatable, top 2 in Japan don't use metaknight, which is a country who's top metaknights are better than ours. m2k lost to a rob, and that rob also beat tbear. He is so beatable, just like every character in this game.

The stages make a world of difference.

I dont really mind the Japanese ruleset just hate how we dont even practice the mk ban after a long time of wait for it. We just go with the Japanese ruleset because of what happened 1 time at a tournament against our top mks -_-

I am pro-ban but I do think that the japanese ruleset could prove to be extremely effective. Well, mainly the three stages thing.

And speaking of the stages, does anyone (jard) know why there are more stages in doubles? And why no smashville?

According to suinoko, when asked about sv, he said it was "too small." I don't necessarily agree with that, but I don't know if there is more reasoning.

As for more stages, I would assume it's because with two people, you can be saved by some of the abused elements ex walk offs. Don't quote me on it though.

Im getting talk from smashers that now come up with a "rob beat mk" but now Im hearing m2k didnt know the matchup? Which is it? If m2k was playing at his best would still beat the rob or no?

also its more than just 2 ppl using mk. They may not being maining him bt still pocket him when needed.

While I don't agree with the idea that Mew2king didn't know the match up, as he's played Chibo and other Rob's before and won, I don't believe he was playing at his best that day.

Also, if you're losing to anyone's "pocket" MK's, it's your fault. In fact, if one is losing to someone who mains Mk, it's still your fault. One actually have less of a good reason to lose to a pocket Meta knight. The whole concept of having a pocket character is that they don't play them that much, but bring them out occasionally in certain situations. They should then, in theory, have a much worse concept of the matchup. The other person, on the other hand, should have a much deeper grasp of the matchup from the fact that they actually practice consistently with said character.

This holds especially true in regards to all the worthless bad Arizona Meta's.

I was not saying anything about losing to mks or pocket mks? Chris said only 2 ppl use mk but that Isnt true so Idk where Youre getting at with what Youre saying.

after reading my posts i think you got confused with what i said about me and yummy jar'd. I was talking about his snake and k9s fd stage how the floor is dark blue or black so its hard to see snakes mines.

You just always complain about Meta, so I assumed it was another jab at him. I'll admit that I did jump the gun on it though, so my bad.

But I don't have any idea what you're talking about in regards to you and Yummy LOL

My problem with meta has never been towards losing to him. Ive beat metas and lost to them. Ppl just rely too much on him Thats all.
But its cool yo

I thought you saw the match we had and what happened in the end. With everyone yelling i thought most of the ppl saw.

the SV thing actually kind of makes sense. That stage is the smallest of the neutrals.

Ok next question: in singles are there bans? In doubles I would assume there is?

@Jar'd yeah but he's just better than them. He was doing things you aren't supposed to in the matchup like gliding pointlessly because it just gets you laser'd. In the 3rd match he gets hit by nair like 3 times just jumping into it bluntly

Ocean played really well but m2k was playing like ***, it's noticeable even by players of lower levels. I'm not taking away from ocean's win, it was legit and he comfortably beat M2K but he wasn't really playing and it's MK vs rob, that match doesn't really show proof of anything... for either sides tbh

This is all my opinion of course, you have to figure out if you care about mine of course

hey guys i know you're all excited for your socal tourney and all but NICKNYTE NEEDS ALL OF OUR HELP..

Regarding [NYTE], the reason why I felt to cancel it was because of one main reason: lack of confidence. I have had 0 people pre-register. No one from my own state has even given me the faith that they really wanted to go to this. I have had many people come up to the Nyte Lytes, and believe me, they were amazing. The problem is, I need to see the promises, not just hear them. Look, the amount of people I need to pre-reg for this tournament is not a huge number. I need 50 entrants. We got 30 people (Melee&Brawl) just in this state alone that came to the Lytes. I am not going to bullsheet you people. I am going to push over the next 6 weeks, every friday for more pre-regs since Apex is done. But if I don't get the bare minimum, I will politefully refund everyone's money, because I don't want to make promises I cannot keep. I hope everyone understands. If anyone can put down some Venue (and spectator), you will have my thanks. This is the announcement. Now get to it!

Just to let everyone who is coming with me know, if I don't get three people to come with me and help split gas, then I will not be able to go. That means that if Chris is unable to go, then I absolutely need a replacement.
