Hey everyone, this is Prime. Yoshiken let me on his account because I have a significant proposition to present. After I came up with this idea, I presented it to Kiraflax, K9, and Yoshiken, and we all helped edit out the details.

I would like to say for the smash scene, that there should be a change made to promote a series of growth within our out-of-state participation in tournaments in the U.S. and abroad. At this time there are smashers amongst our community that are very excited to having a new year of brawl in front them and want a HUGE momentum growth in AZ's presence within the national community of Brawl (Ex: Kiraflax, Silly Kyle, K9). These strong and idealistic players are clearly willing to put forth effort to have AZ in the light of the national scene of Super Smash Brothers Brawl. However, finances are always a problem for these dedicated players, thus causing the chance to go out of state to represent AZ to be null and void. I have created a solution to this problem.

This idea can branch out in any ways, and I would very much appreciate any feedback you guys have. For example, we could take out some of the pot money in each tournament and put it into an "Out-of-State fund." Or we could hold just straight fundraising tournaments where all the money goes into this fund, and the prize for the winners of the tournament would be something other than money. The following needs to be considered to create a successful fund:

1. how we determine who gets financial support.
2. how we get the money to support our players going out of state.
3. what we going to save the money for (generally, I'm speaking of tournaments or maybe some type of convention).
This will be determined by what the community chooses to save up for (ex: WHOBO, or big regionals this year).

We have all decided that this would be the best idea to be able to progress the smash scene here as well as create an enjoyable experience for everyone.

This is the real Yoshiken now. I truly do support this, and I think it will really help our scene. I know the details need to be edited a bit, but once we do that, I am confident that this fundraiser idea would work.

Also, I will be the professor from the Powerpuff Girls :)

no way in hell prime actually wrote that big post lolol

And while I'm not opposed to wanting our best to represent in other places, I feel like taking money from the pot assumes either that everyone will be willing to donate their money or that only the people that are willing will be winning anyway. I don't agree with either.

I would like to be able to compete, and granted the abysmally small chance that I have, if I placed, I'm gonna be honest, I wouldn't donate **** lol.

I think the best solution would be to ask the winners after the fact if they would then like to donate to the fund, as opposed to making a tourney "fund-focused" from the get-go.

Not to mention how advertising a tourney with an entry fee but no real cash prize is a great way to not get new players.

tbh, any player that we all recognize as good enough to rep out of state is probably winning money from our tournaments anyway. I don't see why they aren't already able to pay for their going OOS

@Derp think about it in this perspective, when you enter a tourney you will not only be entering to have a shot at having a chance at the pot, but you will also be helping the scene evolve out of state.

Our goal is to better the scene this year. We want AZ to be well known/respected in the U.S.

Don't you take it in to heart when other players down talk AZ?

EDIT: Also we really want you guys op on this idea, i like how your looking at this derp, it opens my mind to seeing it a different idea.

hmm, i kind of like this. except i can see drama sprouting out of this. like for example, kyle being a jew and not donating, and everyone getting mad.

this man is speaking some sense.

also, i would take quite a bit of tourneys for the fund to amount to anything significant, and even then, only like 1 or 2 players would be able to go. would it always be the two best? or how would we decide that?

@jane Yes we would have to do by top players, but we were thinking top 5 get some money out of state tourneys, and it would be a donation, so the some of the money would have to come from there pocket also.

1. The plan posted does not allow me to have a shot at the pot and to support players going out at the same time. I either keep what I win or I donate it.

My main problem with it is I don't want there to be a purpose for the prize money before anyone even wins it. Let the winners decide what to do with it after it's theirs. If they want to go out of state and/or support someone else's going, they'll know what to do.

2. Lol, no I don't care. Our scene, as scenes are, is independent and anyone with a real condescending attitude toward players in AZ can pretty much go **** themselves.

0_0 well that was easy

Lemme clarify,
I'm not opposed to keeping a fund, and I'm certainly not going to tell other players what to do with their money if they want to donate it. That's all fine and good. I just wanna know if a tournament is going to have its pot in any way dedicated to the fund before I enter

Yea we can't take money from what good players get.

Like lets say you enter singles for 10 dollars, and we take 5 from the pot for out state funds, you only paid 5 dollars to get in the tourney, in reality. So i agree.

hahaha, you're adorable :3
after I pay $10, unless I'm given 5 back, I still have payed $10.

I need to know what the intention for the pot is before I enter. If it's like a regular tourney, then yup I'll probably be there.
If I'm told before we start that no matter how well I do, no matter how close I might get to a payout, some of the pot that I would have won will be going to a fund for players besides myself to go OOS, then I just won't enter

I know that sounds discouraging toward the scene's potential to represent itself, but surely there's a better way for our best to get funded than to seize a portion of the winnings.

Like I said before, the best solution would be to give the offer to the winners after they've won. But they have to have the option to keep everything if they want. They did win it fair and square after all
