As a Long Island fox i play with tommytipper's ganon (tipman) all the time., and something he does alot is waveland into ftilts which is really quick and sneaky for a ganon. I've been trying to short hop waveland foward into shines, or triangle jump into shines and sometimes it works really well. people dont really see it coming, and it can easily string into combos. Do you think this is a good idea? and yes its not a new idea really, but i dont see it used THAT much by foxes.

Actually, it's probably just better to wavedash into it rather than waveland. It's quicker which gives your opponent less time to react. But if you want to mix it up, then yes, wavelanding might be a good idea.

Although, don't take it only from me. I'm no pro.

like any approach, if you over use it then your opponent is gunna start to predict it and punish accordingly
but ontop of all of foxes legit approaches i doubt you could really over use wavelanding
its hella sexy, idk about triangle jumping but WLing forward then dashing back is a nice little mind****, a good way to feel your opponent out

hahah good advice, its so sexyyy. But ya if ur jumping in place empty shuffles or w.e nd just out of nowhere waveland to shine or jab or w.e move it can deff be effective. But like you said cant be predictable with it also.

i dont know that i'd approach with a waveland

sometimes ill approach then waveland back and bait an attack then punish. but thats the extent of that

i generally only use wavelanding on platforms and for silly tricksies like ledgehop waveland off the stage bair for an edgeguard or soemthing

Ganon is slow, so wavelands are nice for him if he uses them well.

Fox is fast, with an amazing DD, which, for the most part is better than waveland/wavedash spacing. I wouldn't count it out completely, but Fox has better options, so no one uses it much.

Reason being is that a waveland commits you to 10 frames and a wavedash commits you to even more, why put yourself in that lag when DD allows you to be so much more mobile?

Ganon doesn't have the option of an amazing DD, so he needs wavelands to have flow.

Wavelands are really good if you have a forward ground move with good range and something with good priority in the air.

Say with falcon, you have your back to them and you SH to feign a bair and they space enough to punish you (not very far away). Instead of attacking you waveland toward them with an up-angled-ftilt and they will have a rough time beating it because of the range, priority and speed (unless they are fox/sheik XD). Its even better on characters with longer WDs and more spammable ground moves (marth ftilt/utilt/fsmash, luigi ftilt, sheik ftilt, ect ect)

all true statements, but i do recommend trying to throw it in there once in a while. its subtle but the more unpredictable you are the better.

try this:

hit them with something (should be easy enough)
if they miss the tech
run at them, short hop, waveland backwards.
-see what they do-
run upsmash them in the face.

it covers pretty much every option. if they roll in then grab/upsmash. if they stand or roll away, run and punish. but people will usualy getupattack when you are in the air because you have no options to protect yourself coming down but you WL back so gg.
mindgames son.

You can empty SH shine (tomahawk LOL)

or just simply dash and shine those have the same effect IMO. The only thing that your technique does is that it offers a bit of a tricky delay. The reason it works so well with ganon is that people always expect his approaches to be aerial so when he cancels into a waveland and uptilts your *** you get confused.

running away then short hoping into a waveland, then going into sh bair retaining the forward momentum of the waveland is REALLY good.

and nobody ever expects it.

its easy to get ****ed up triangle jumping sometimes too. I feel like you RLY have to catch them off guard and be airdodging thru an attempted attack. othewise they have enough time to do free anything. As far as the triange jump goes, I'd use it with the same frequency as marth's counter. I feel like the situations that are best for it are when ppl are attacking. counter just has a lower execution cost than a triangle jump however a good triangle jump would DEF give you a better return as well.

I really like the ftilt idea. I like ftilt alot and perhaps I will try to utilize wavelanding with it as well.. I use it as a tempo controller. In dittos if the person is moving faster than me(which is usually the case at the higher levels.) I throw some of those out and really make them trip up. if it works well they get hit by 2-3 of them in a row b4 adjusting, but of course the adjustmentb being a few hits too late (I've already messed up your flow so mission accomplished)
