Attributes
Tom Nook is a lightweight character, being only slightly heavier than Fox. His speed is fairly slow, comparable to Zelda. (assuming the Animal Crossing boy/girl is average.) However, his walking speed is one of the fastest in comparison to other characters, being only a bit slower than Sonic's. Fall speed is a bit slower than Peach's. Air speed is slightly faster than Luigi, but aerial acceleration is great and would be only a little bit slower than Jigglypuff. His first jump is not very high and neither is his second jump. His short jump is high for a short hop, being the perfect height to jump over his own furniture.
A very zoning and trap oriented character. Tons of moves that Tom Nook has are based on stage control. Tom Nook's most complex and notable ability is being able to place obstacles on the screen in the form of furniture. Tom Nook's main tool for doing this is his Neutral B, however, his down tilt, Up B, and back throw can all be used to place furniture. The only move that can return furniture to Nook is his Neutral B. Tom Nook can only have five pieces of furniture on screen at all times.
Wall Cling: Yes.
Crawl: No.
Glide: No.
Is able to scuttle around in the air while slowly falling if the jump button is held after jumping. A reference to Tom Nook being a tanuki. He can attack while scuttling and can use it as many times as needed.
Takes out a fish and holds it in his hand as it flops back and forth. It hits repeatedly. Like the "Show it off!" function in Animal Crossing. Control-wise it works like Game & Watch's or Metaknight's.
Swings his axe around and circles while standing on one foot with the dizzy look like in the game when you miss with the axe.
B: Heave furniture, I really like this move because it actually works this way in Animal Crossing too. Throw a leaf forward and it turns into a random piece furniture that the opponent has to avoid. If it hits a person, it does damage and stays there posing as an obstacle. The obstacle does no damage, but must be jumped over. The furniture can be used as a platform as well. Useful for stage control and edgeguarding. Press B again to pick up the furniture if Nook is right next to it. The furniture can be destroyed like Wario's bike and Nook can only have three pieces of furniture out on the screen at any time, regardless of what attack he uses to place furniture.
Forward B: You swing out your net over your head just like in the game and you can catch projectiles and items alike, and they get stuck in your net, then the next time you press sideways b you throw it. If the net hits a person, they get stunned with the "wtf?" look in Animal Crossing whenever you hit someone with a net. This allows you enough time to run in and get right next to them, but not enough time to attack. It is just a long range poke that allows Nook to get in. If the net hits an aerial opponent they get meteor smashed.
Down B: Bury a pitfall that takes about 2 seconds to activate. Whoever walks over it falls in and they have to repeatedley press A to escape. No other buttons.
Up B: Tom Nook takes out a leaf from his pocket and puts it under him, which creates a platform below him in the shape of a random piece of bouncy furniture that is falling. He can walk on top of the furniture as it is falling or tie balloons, but if he's trying to recover you'll just die if you try to do anything fancy. Similar to the falling platforms on Rainbow Cruise. Any jump taken while on the platform is twice as high due to the platform's bouncy nature. If the platform touches solid ground, it will stay there while still retaining its bouncy properties.
Side Smash: Holds an axe behind his back like a baseball bat charges it up and swings.
Down Smash: Closer range than other down smashes, stab down with a shovel.
Up Smash: Pulls out his slingshot and shoots straight up in the air. This attack can be charged like others, and is used just like in the games, except whatever you shoot goes up not down. Weak attack. Amount charged affects speed, but the shot goes to the ceiling regardless of charge.
Up Tilt: Opens leaf umbrella and twirls it. Very disjointed. Multi-hit attack.
Forward Tilt: Smacks opponent with a bag of bells.
Down Tilt: Ties a balloon to a piece of furniture. The balloon carries the furniture slowly across the screen in the form of a present. If you pop it, it will reveal the leaf and then it will immediately transform into a random piece of furniture and drop downward, causing damage to whoever it falls on top of. Tom Nook can activate the furniture by popping the balloon and so can the opponent, but the dropping furniture will not cause damage to Nook.
Nuetral air: Pulls out a large fish in front of him. Like the "Show it off!" function in AC. A multi-hit attack.
Down air: Sticks out his shovel downwards, it works as a spike and a diving move.
Up air: Bees. Tom Nook release a swarm of bees above him. A multi-hit move that does a lot of damage and has good range, but very little knock back.
Forward air: Swing axe forward. Slow, small hit box, but powerful. Missing lag from AC when axe doesn't hit.
Back Air: Drops a leaf behind him that bursts into a random piece of furniture and then pulls it back quickly. Pretty strong. Like in AC where something is dropped out of the inventory onto the ground then picked back up.
Grab: Throw your fishing line torwards your opponents if it catches them you reel them in and proceed to pick them up, like in the game.
Bash: Shake them like a tree.
Forward Throw: Tom Nook runs forward comically for one second at half of his dash speed and pushes the opponent along with him. This is useful for stage positioning, making people fall into pit falls, and setting up an edgeguarding situation. Does no damage.
Back Throw: Turns around suddenly and starts laughing as he throws a leaf over his shoulder that bursts into a random piece of furniture and blasts the opponent backwards. When the opponent gets blasted backwards, Tom Nook gets the "disbelief" look on his face.
Up Throw: Throw them upward, then shoot them with your sling shot.
Down Throw: Throws the foe down and whacks them with the shovel.
Timmy and Tommy! Both Timmy and Tommy follow Tom Nook around the screen for 20 seconds and relentlessly attack whatever enemy is closest to them. Tom Nook, Timmy, and Tommy are invincible for the entire duration.
Up Taunt: Ha Ha's surround Tom Nooks head as he laughs at your insolence.
Side Taunt: "Inspiration" emotion where a light bulb appears over Tom Nooks head, his eyes open up wide and he claps once.
Down Taunt: "Mischief" emotion where Tom Nook looks down, puts his hand over his chest, his other hand over his mouth, and chuckles to himself silently as a purple and black bar goes across his forehead.[/collapse][collapse=legendofrob1's moveset]Tom Nook Moveset

Ranged grab – uses the fishing rod. Also works as a tether.
Jab – basic “one two punch”, but the third hit is his Tanooki tail.
Dash – Runs with a bug container, but trips, the container opens, and the bug flies up a little before disappearing. The bug counts as an extra hit, as well as being an up projectile.
Tilts
Forward – Swings a bag of bells around. (just think of a sack of cash) high knockback for a tilt.
Down – A rug appears on the ground in front of nook, and he quickly pulls it out from underneath someone's feet. Does a tripping effect, similar to a banana peel.
Up – Throws up a pile of paper and bills.
Smashes
Forward – grabs a wooden folding chair, and swings it in a downwards motion towar
Down – Swings a big fish around. Only slightly higer knockback than the bag of bells when fully charged, but always does higher damage. Also hits behind.
Up - Swings up with a roll of wallpaper. Half the time, he looses his grip on the wallpaper, only holding the paper part, unrolling the rest. this makes the range longer, but damage and knockback is slightly lowered.
Specials
Forward – Throws a furniture leaf, which turns into either a dresser or a table. They break on target and do medium damage and knockback, otherwise it will land and act as a big pickup item, like wario's bike. If the dresser breaks, it will drop items like a fossil, a pitfall trap, an apple, or a conch shell.
Down – a gyroid will appear, flailing it's arms wildly, like in Animal Crossing. It will constantly be attacking, every 5th of a second is another attack. Once every 3 strikes, it will launch with higher knockback and make the player get off itself. It will stay on play for 30 seconds and there can be only one in play per nook. There is also a 10 second delay when it can be used again.
Up – Spawns a couch underneath him, bouncing him high. Works like Sonic's spring or Megaman's Rush, except other people could use the couch to bounce, as well as picking it up as a heavy item.
Neutral – Grabs any projectiles, and immediately tosses a bag of bells in an upwards curved motion. The size of the bag is also in relation to the projectile. It does knockback and damage equal to the projectile, and if it lands on the ground, it can be thrown for half the damage and knockback, and will count towards money in coin battle.
Final Smash – a house pops of from the ground next to a player close to tom nook (player is frozen during the attack), tom nook will give the bill, and the character has a shocked expression then is launched off the stage.[/collapse]

Counter Arguments:
-"We already have the villager! we don't need another animal crossing rep!"
Animal Crossing is definitely big enough for more than one character at this point.
-"he'll just be a clone of the villager!"
There is plenty of stuff other in animal crossing that is either sold by Tom or bought by him. see this thread for the list of AC stuff used and not used by the villager.
Random Stuff:
Tom here seems to notice the villager's smash invitation. maybe he will get interested. idk, it's a theroy. plus he's not in any smashville screenshots yet, so....?
Isabelle here is a new AC assist trophy, and Nook hasn't been seen in the background. at this point he's looking more and more likely every Smashville pic.

Bio:
Tom Nook is the shop owner of your town in Animal Crossing. He meets you after you enter the town and gives you a home so you don't have to sleep in the grass like you were in some cruel, ironic dream about moving to a town where all the animals are people and all the people have to fend for themselves in the wild. Luckily, Tom Nook isn't that kind of tanuki. He gives you a job and teaches you how to plant flowers. You guys thought he wasn't man enough to duke it out with Nintendo's finest, but you were wrong. Dead wrong. After you post profane messages on the town hall's message board, he fires you in the most discreet way possible. Surely, he does not want his family's business associated with a sociopath such as yourself. However, you are welcome to come back to purchase his merchandise. A customer is a customer, I suppose. Tom Nook still remains a father figure to you throughout the game. He teaches you how to do things that men like to do such as fish, cut down trees, and catch butterflies. You almost bought that fishing pole thinking it would look great in your house and he could have gotten away with it, but Tom Nook wouldn't do you like that. He wants to show you how to really use it.
You take on the world with your newfound talents and Tom Nook wonders why none of the money he hid inside the trees is there anymore. Tom Nook gets business from you constantly. He notices you walking around the perimeter of his store after closing time. Then as much as an hour before it, waiting to come inside. You'll just shake a couple trees in the mean-time. You're dependent on him. Tom Nook is your only source of income, you buy from him, you sell to him. You exist for him. You don't want to sleep or eat. Money makes your body move. You just want to finish that country western furniture set, that's all you really want. Catch red snapper, sell red snapper. But wouldn't your house look better if it were bigger? Tom Nook can help you with that. Tom Nook notices your problem, but he bites his tongue; it bleeds a little." If I can just upgrade this shop one more time, then maybe within the year I can afford Tommy's dance lessons. Tommy can have the dance lessons, but Timmy and Tommy would have to work with uncle. This is family time, right? After all, my wife walked out on me for fostering this human's hellish addiction to home decor. Two birds with one...never mind.
Franchise Logo:
Reasoning:
1: Animal Crossing is one of Nintendo's most well known and best selling franchises, to not have a representative is crazy. Tom Nook IS that representative.
2: Tom Nook is the most iconic and recognizable of the characters in Animal Crossing. This would mean he is the best representative for one of Nintendo's most profitable franchises. Because the characters the player uses in Animal Crossing are customizable, it means there is no real "character" the player controls in the game. However, I do admit that the playable character has a very distinct look that is arguably more recognizable than Tom Nook, regardless of the customization options.
3: Tom Nook CAN fight. Just because he is never seen fighting in his games does not mean he can not be a contender. Captain Falcon, ROB, and Mr. Game & Watch are all characters that were never seen in combat. Captain Falcon is implied to be in conflict with others because he is a bounty hunter, however. Fox and Falco were also in SSBM despite having only implied combat experience. Phoenix Wright in Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is also a character who appeared in a fighting game who has no combat experience. At least Tom Nook can use weapons and unique abilities that would allow him to contend with other Nintendo characters.
4: The Animal Crossing series is absolutely stuffed with tools and abilities that can be used for combat. Making an entire moveset for an Animal Crossing character is easy as pie. Look below for an example of a moveset where every single move is taken from an aspect of Animal Crossing gameplay. Plenty of characters already in Smash, including Captain Falcon, the Star Fox characters, ROB, and Zelda had very little to work with and Tom Nook is absolutely not one of those characters.
5: The franchise logo looks really cool and is basically asking to be put next to Tom Nook's face at the bottom of the screen.
6: Tom Nook is just amazing.

TOM NOOK FOR $$ß4
Oh, hi. I almost didn't see you there. I was too busy running a store and beating up on various Nintendo characters.Bio:
The Animal Crossing series in the form of Tom Nook is featured below:
Play Style
A very zoning and trap oriented character. Tons of moves that Tom Nook has are based on stage control. Tom Nook's most complex and notable ability is being able to place obstacles on the screen in the form of furniture. Tom Nook's main tool for doing this is his Neutral B, however, his down tilt, Up B, and back throw can all be used to place furniture. The only move that can return furniture to Nook is his Neutral B. Tom Nook can only have five pieces of furniture on screen at all times.
Additional Movement Options
Wall Jump: Yes.Wall Cling: Yes.
Crawl: No.
Glide: No.
Unique Ability
Is able to scuttle around in the air while slowly falling if the jump button is held after jumping. A reference to Tom Nook being a tanuki. He can attack while scuttling and can use it as many times as needed.
Basic Combo
Takes out a fish and holds it in his hand as it flops back and forth. It hits repeatedly. Like the "Show it off!" function in Animal Crossing. Control-wise it works like Game & Watch's or Metaknight's.
Dash Attack
Swings his axe around and circles while standing on one foot with the dizzy look like in the game when you miss with the axe.
Special Attacks
Smash Attacks
Side Smash: Holds an axe behind his back like a baseball bat charges it up and swings.
Down Smash: Closer range than other down smashes, stab down with a shovel.
Up Smash: Pulls out his slingshot and shoots straight up in the air. This attack can be charged like others, and is used just like in the games, except whatever you shoot goes up not down. Weak attack. Amount charged affects speed, but the shot goes to the ceiling regardless of charge.
Tilt Attacks
Aerial Attacks
Throws
Final Smash
Timmy and Tommy! Both Timmy and Tommy follow Tom Nook around the screen for 20 seconds and relentlessly attack whatever enemy is closest to them. Tom Nook, Timmy, and Tommy are invincible for the entire duration.
Taunts
Up Taunt: Ha Ha's surround Tom Nooks head as he laughs at your insolence.
Side Taunt: "Inspiration" emotion where a light bulb appears over Tom Nooks head, his eyes open up wide and he claps once.
Down Taunt: "Mischief" emotion where Tom Nook looks down, puts his hand over his chest, his other hand over his mouth, and chuckles to himself silently as a purple and black bar goes across his forehead.
