Even then, the enjoyment that I have watching and playing melee far outweighs anything i've ever experienced with Brawl. So before Brandon, Jack or Luke or whoever starts talking about unifying both communities by hosting both games, I say **** da police.

That's because you've played two seconds of Brawl. It's the exact same thing with 64 with me, I've played it a little bit, but I haven't enjoyed it nearly as much as Melee or Brawl. But I'm not going out of my way being prejudice and calling it a crappy game, I know for a fact there is a large audience that loves 64, thus the game is a good game. The same applies for Brawl, regardless of your opinion. And even then, if you hate the game on your own concord you might as well just keep that to yourself, **** is lame to hear, yo.

Yeah, I don't really get up on Sundays until around 2 o'clock, since even though I'm pretty tired on Saturdays, I don't like taking a nap and ****ing up my sleeping schedule.

Also, for some reason when my computer goes into screensaver mode (ie. when I'm sleeping) it doesn't change my MSN status to away (which is why I didn't answer my msn, lol).

I'll try to come today, but no promises.

liking melee 10000x more isnt the same thing as hating brawl

a good analogy:
one friend says "lets go bike ride to 711 and then play video games all night!" and another says "lets go do homework by ourselves in our rooms!"

I don't HATE doing homework by myself in a room but I would never ever ever choose it over a summer day of bike riding and fun things.

You asked why people don't prefer brawl and I gave you a reason why people don't prefer brawl. You can't expect my reasoning to change because you think it doesn't stand anymore. It's my preference, not yours.

I gave the game a chance (and a couple second chances actually) but it doesn't stand up to the smash bros franchise I love. In fact, the more the metagame advances the more I'm glad I don't play.

But thats just me.

I played victor a while ago and he said brawl was absolute garbage because he played GaW, spammed 2 moves and did good vs Brandon. IDK the full details about vsing Brandon, but victor is total garbage at brawl, and he doesn't know anything about the game, yet he will accuse it of being really easy to be good and that it's a ****ty game. I have a feeling this is the common mind set of most of the people who post here, so that's why I make these posts, because everyone sucks at it, but calls it crap. You mean the conclusion that brawl is an easy game? It is, compared to melee, which is why most people prefer melee as opposed to brawl. This is also the reason "everyone sucks at it", due to the fact that people just don't play it.

It's hard to get good at a game you don't like, let alone don't play. I mean, I love how you can gimp in melee, how if your opponent has one bad DI it could mean a stock.

How about this then.

When brawl came out, I thought I would take it up because it would make me on an "even" level as opposed to competitive play. Think of it, I started playing melee almost 7 years after it came out, so I was excited at the chance of making myself really good at brawl.

I played it quite a bit, and browsed the forums for new things to learn, etc. I would play maybe one or two matches against a computer and be bored as hell, and this was only a month after brawl came out. But when I play melee, I can play it for pretty long times and not even feel the slightest bit bored.

Like Carl, I tried going back to it a few times but there just wasn't that spark that melee has. I'm not saying that brawl is necessarily a bad game or that it "sucks", it just isn't made to be a competitive game (like Sakurai wanted, zomg).

loved Brawl when we got it. I didn't care that it didn't have L-Cancelling or little depth or whatever. But I'm going to type up a story of what's happened in the past month or so.

About a week before Christmas our Wii kept on getting error messages when we tried to load games. After sending it into Nintendo Australia to get it fixed we waited for a while until we got it back again on Christmas Eve. Unfortunately, for whatever reason it still wasn't working so we had to figure whether or not to get a new one or send the old one back.

During this period of time I decided to play Melee again. Now back when I used to play it I knew most of the advanced stuff: JCG, Wave-Dashing, L-Cancelling, SHFFL...
However, I realised how fun it was to do this stuff again while I was playing Melee. I got my brothers to play it with me again and we had fun with it (it helps when they both knew some of those advanced techniques, too).
Not only that, I was also more adept at executing said techniques than I was before we got Brawl.

Finally we got a Wii again and I set out to playing Brawl again, despite the fact that I had to do it all over again (we had saved almost all of our gagmes onto the SD card, save the ones that we couldn't because they used Friend Codes : / ).
It's been about a week since we got it and I've been doing the Challenges and such.
But it's only now that I realise how much the depth in Melee really mattered to me. And the fact that Brawl lacked this depth really hit home as well.

I'll admit, I don't hate Brawl at all. It's been a fun game, but because it does not have what made Melee so awesome for me to play makes it that much harder to keep on playing Brawl.
The only real thing that I'll use Brawl for now is for videography and the like, which is unfortunate for a potentionally great game that was watered down to appease a larger crowd.

Now that I'm going back to Melee, the only problem I should have is convincing my brothers to play it with me again.

TL;DR version: I don't want to play Brawl because Melee's depth is much more important to me.

we all played brawl for at least a couple of months, i dunno what rank u got at ct4 but i kno i got 3rd place but i still think brawl sucks. lol. maybe i suck even with 3rd place, but it doesnt change my mind about brawl compared to melee.
