A Proposal: I Need Feedback from the Samus Board

As a moderator, I can merge two threads together, making them one. I've never performed this action before, and it's not a common thing to do so among this messageboard. I don't plan on doing that anyway, at least through the method I could use as a moderator. Instead, I've been thinking about unifying the threads that we have here already. These threads are as follows:

• The ULTIMATE Samus Database
• Samus' Log Book
• Analyzing the Field of Battle
• The Styles of Samus

If we merge all these threads together by making them one, it will make things look neat and clean. This does not mean making a whole new thread that links to the threads I've noted. What it does mean is that I could remove the stickied threads and transfer all the information into one thread. I would like your input, people. We have about seven active members here: Cherry64, Hive, n00b, Ravin, Serris, Xyro77, and myself. There's also IsmaR, Rohins, Smash_Gigas, tha_carter, and Tudor, but they're not here as much.

Anyway, I would like some feedback from you people. Should we do it? Should we not do it? What are the pros and cons in this, &c.?

Looking at other threads there is about... 6 stickies at times. but if i had to pick, The styles of Samus and and Database should be merged. They are similar in a lot of ways. Ones just tounry videos or friendlies, other one is everything else.

I could do that, but I'm not asking if we take two threads together and make them one. I'm asking if we should make all four of the threads as one.

All four as one? I don't really think that's necessary. Looking to one topic for all the data would be convenient, but all the scrolling required to find the relevant information would be time-consuming. If you're going to merge multiple threads together, I agree with Ravin:

Also agreed. One massive-purpose thread would be too overwhelming. Even if conversations and info. might sometimes overlap, it'd just be a lot to take in.

However, if you absolutely are dead-set on your idea, the search function could be abused. Just make chapters labled AAAa, AAaa, etc. or something else equally obscure. Then at least you could find the correct section if need be.

All four would be a no no? Have you ever tried to read a document with useful information but it spanned with like 20 pages and you couldn't find what you were looking for? Think of the stickies as chapters almost.

I really don't see why we couldn't use Find to find what we're looking for. It would all be in order.

It would be at the top in the index. When I was working on my guide, I wrote it like this.

If your going to do that, then make sure you add at the top "Use find and use >insert combination here< to find the topic you are looking for.

Im still ify about the idea is all.

Edit - Updates should be at the top, and Update History where "Updates" are.

I'm not sure if you haven't checked, but we're far behind compared to the other boards. We're already "less."

My point was the first time I came to the forums awhile back when I was looking into characters, I left almost immediately because it looked like there was no information on her at all.

I'm not snapping at you. I'm being serious about it. There wasn't really much information in the past, either. That's beside the point, however, because we do have these things now. And take note of Kofu's thread. Apparently we have all these stickies, and he was going to proceed to make a match-up guide. We already have that. He was going to make something on stages, but we have that as well.

It doesn't look like with all these stickies that people won't make duplicate posts. It's their laziness to search around before looking. I just think that combining all of these threads as one would make it easier and neater. I guess being easier isn't appealing to people who are lazy. And yes, I am talking about us as a whole. I know, I'm an ***hole.

Have we actually been having a lot of duplicate posts in those threads? I haven't really noticed all that many. If we are, I guess we could try out one large thread. But I think it would be harder to discuss multiple topics at once.

In an attempt to streamline the forums you would essentially just make the forum less user-friendly and cluttered.

I will say that I didn't notice the move information section (and I'm still not exactly sure of its original place), and it's the main reason I was to make that guide. I really do apologize, I was trying to help the community.

The information isn't particularly well sorted in the Ultimate Samus thread, in my opinion, and it would do well to have it condensed and better organized, certainly.

No one ever asked for my help on anything. Kofu is right, though. It's all disorganized, and that's what I'm aiming for. But, if you guys don't want it that way, all right.

I'm a moderator, Ravin. I can edit posts. I wouldn't be the one creating the thread. It doesn't look like the other threads have been maintained. They're cluttered, which is ironic about what n00b said. Well, don't say I didn't say so when someone comes in and asks a question when he or she could've gone to the Q&A thread.
