I have class at that time so I'll miss the premiere anyway. I don't see why you'd want to play M2K and Azen so much though anyway. They're just guys (or so they CLAIM dun dun duuuuuun).

Indeed. I think he would be a good addition to the crew.
OK. I think I need to draw the line.

I've been thinking about this for a while, been talking to some of the other guys and they have agreed. I think I need to finally say it.

There has to be a restriction as to who is in the crew.

I feel this is important to bring up, as it seems certain people believe this crew is allowing free entry.

In reality, this crew is supposed to be representing Wichita's skill level in Brawl. If we continue to let more people in and keep certain people in, this crew will never be what it is supposed to be.

Important: Just because someone is not in the crew DOES NOT mean they can't meet with us. Anyone is more than welcome to come and play. Its just that I, and others, feel that a line needs to be drawn.

Overall, I don't want to seem like a jerk, but as of right now the only people that are undoubtedly recognized as being in the crew are those who have achieved a higher level of skill and/or have done well competitively.

I'm not going to name names. You know who you are.

i think a good approach to this would be as a sort of mentors/students relationship. so you improve your game, and earn your way into the 'core crew' i guess.

i don't want it to seem like anyone is being excluded. i don't think anything is going to change. it's just about an 'image', which is actually pretty important when you think about how great smashers view us from out of state and such.

I'm sorry i cant do that affinity. If that is how its gonna be then i will hafta leave the crew and just represent myself. Cause to be honest how many of u could truly say u would stand a chance against me if u hadnt play me in a bazillion matches to learn my fighting style? only a few. I know how it feels to not have the skill to be considered the best and all i wanted was a CHANCE! I totally agree with the whole idea steeler has. and regardless of how good i am i wont be part of the CORE CREW. That jus irks me when ppl do that.
But to those who do wanna be part of the crew dont waste our time... if u dont have a drive to get better dont act like it and say your in a crew jus to say it. aim for the top even though ppl in the crew may seem unbeatable learn your character(s) and know anything is possible. and to be clear i could care less about an image cause my image is wat makes ppl think i cant play but all of u know im at least decent i have a lot to improve on but im at least decent. and to be honest i dont represent wichita brawl i represent me having fun playin a game i wanna be the best at. Cause to be honest if i wanted to represent i would go to the tournament by myself or with me and ky.
Thing is all of u even down to the worst one i recognize as friends. So i try and help everyones game even if that means i lose more cause they got better.

I understand your point, Affinity, I do. Sorry, I spoke callously. But, I agree with Steeler's idea. I'd really like to be a recognized member, and everytime we play I give it my all. I think I'm getting better, and I'm striving to put myself in the highest ranks. But, I'm not there yet.

And Domo raises an excellent point too. Anyone who comes and tries to be the best, and strives to learn and to represent Wichita should be considered a member. If you're not going to try, like he said, don't waste the time, but everyone that comes to the Smash sessions has an intense desire to be a contributing member to the Wichita crew. We're all friends, right? Let's show that as one of our keys to success, eh?

(Sorry if I got your message wrong, Domo, but that's what I took from it. :) )

What Sam said is more or less what I was trying to say. Over time people will get better as they continue to play with all of us, working their way towards getting in the crew.

I didn't want it to sound like I want the door to be closed then locked on who wants to get in. People will always be able to get in; I just feel there needs to be a threshold that should be reached beforehand, for reasons mentioned earlier.

Likewise! I mean, when I got my butt handed to me by Karma at the last Tourney I was so relieved to realize my fox got to fight someone better, and since then I've had more fun with Brawl. Meeting you guys and teaming up with you all has been the greatest thing I've done in my art/ gaming career.

and I will eventually get fox back up to higher tier MAWHAHAHA

I didn't even know the crew was still in place! I feel the same as Dom'.

Even when I used to play games more seriously, I never felt the need for some kind of grouping. Just get together with your pals, play the game, **** around and have a good time.

Represent yourself well and you'll be rewarded and recognized. This applies to attitude and performance.

(Besides we all know my crew is the best.)

idk if i want to drive out just to watch survivor lol. i'll be eating with my dad and stepmom today too. maybe if i leave a bit early i can hang out with you guys.

also dom. something you mentioned. when you go out to tourneys you said you represent yourself playing a game? and then you mentioned that you consider us all friends (i do too :)). well, when we go out to tourneys, shouldn't we be representing as a group of friends in the wichita area?

this is a really touchy subject and i hate to step on anyone's toes...but i hope you guys understand what steven is trying to say. i think he just means there should be a skill requirement, which i understand and agree with. if there isn't some kind of requirement, then the group kind of loses it's meaning when just ANYONE can come in and say 'hey i'm a part of this group of and represent all of wichita'.

whether you like it or not, that's how people in tournaments are going to view us, as the 'wichita guys'.

HOWEVER, this doesn't mean you are 'excluded'. PLEASE, PLEASE come to brawl nights even if you are just a beginner. you are guaranteed to improve. i've seen myself improve quite a bit, tempest and caleb are making some nice steps of improvement, and i'm sure even people like karma and nynja love and appreciate the competition because they improve too. it's all about improving your game and hanging out. if you put the work into it and really strive to be good at brawl, you will be good. maybe it'll take a change of mains or something, perhaps it will take a little while. but brawl doesn't have that huge technical ceiling that melee has. most of brawl, imo is general strategy and knowledge of the game. like knowing when to use each defensive technique and not making a habit out of one particular move, like rolling. knowing how to respond to a certain character's approaches. and then knowing how to use your character. and we'll help each other with that.

think of it as two different parts of the crew. the up and comers and the veterans.

:)

also smash at MY HOUSE on saturday. yes, it is for sure. i can only have like...5 people over, but i'm sure i could stretch that a bit to maybe 8. also please make sure you 'behave yourselves' here, so you leave a good impression on my mom! because that's what it's all about lol. and maybe if it's going well i can ask her about hobo and one of you can explain it to her.

because i really ****ing wanna go.

txt me for address, if you don't have my number and wanna come then tell me and i'll give it to you

we really should have a smash phonebook kind of deal. :\

I agree with steeler and dom on this one....we are not so much representing wichita as much as we are just a group of good friends that play brawl a freakin crapload and have fun doing it. I mean while we are at a tournament we are definately going to root for a fellow wichitan but if we fight somebody from wichita we are representing ourselves...not just representing wichita...and as for me...the only thing i represent is the nom nom...all hail nom nom nom ^_^

so karma what time can we start heading over? im just sitting here in the rsc watching some anime

that was so stupid lol i dont see us being a super competitive state yet. we have a pool of talent yes but nothing like TX. we can have a crew, but i dont think there should be many limitations. we are a more casual state afterall. now if we go and a few of us actually place high, then we could consider it.

I am saying we dont have the mass number of good players like TX. i think a few of us have a real good chance to go far, but as to actually winning? that will be hard. i am not saying we suck, we just have fewer good players then TX.

speak for yourself on winning. Jus because we have never done it before doesnt mean it cant or wont happen. I havent had my shot. to you i may be a mediocre player i know i have jus as good a chance to win it as anyone. for those who dont believe it.. watch and see. and maybe u dont believe in yourself enough. I believe from wat ive seen that we jus as much if not more talent than texas. and u right winning will be hard for us but if u look at it from both ways.... anyone who plays us from texas or anywhere is gonna have it just as hard. We may not be as flashy as them but we get the job done and thats wat matters.

P.S karma u want to play me again does that mean u consider me a challenge? maybe a little one?:)

After 5:30? Alright, I'll be there.

And Dom, I haven't got to play you very much. Could I get a match in against you?
