Tengo una pregunta sobre el torneo del 28, ¿piensan usar las reglas de la PRAG o de MLG? Otra cosa que queria saber es que si todos estan invitados al smashfest del miercoles. Y si es asi, me gustaria saber la hora en que comienza y en donde es q se va a hacer.

si ,todos estan invitados pue lo q se va aser es q voi a bajar asta lomas verde a buscar los mas q qpan en el carro pq vivo lejitos. joe% tambn va a meter gente en su carro so tos van a caber. las reglas del torneo son MLG no las mierdas de prag y eso es todo(bajo temprano)

Uriel, that would be awesome, but we need to choose who are going to do the power rankings. For example, top players (HDL, Uriel, Eval and Max) say who are the top 10 of the island because they are the most knowledgeable on smash here in PR. I dont know, just an opinion.

Hoy estuve en Downtown Disney, y habia un sitio llamado Disney Quest, donde entrabas, pagabas, y ibas y jugabas en las maquinitas sin meter pesos, donde lo unico que tenias que hacer era sentarte a darle al boton de Start na mas (se me cumplio mi sue~o de ni~a;__;!! era el paraiso...).
Aunque si hacias filas en maquinas de Piratas del Caribe, peque~as machinas y blablabla, pero en los arcades no.
Mate a un tipo ahi en Marvel VS Capcom 2 (el me habia eliminado una vez... ****... no me acordaba como cambiar mi personaje al segundo, hasta que despues empeze a bregar con botones y recorde. Pero estaba super fuera de onda).
Esa no es la cosa.
Cuando nos botaron de ahi (por que iban a cerrar) mi tio y yo seguimos caminando a ver que habia y entre a una tienda de videogames. Entre corriendo por que me llamo la atencion un anuncio que habia alfrente...

Habra un torneo de smash el 29... Y NO VOY A PODER ESTAR!!!!!!!!!! Tan cerca y tan lejos!! GAH!!!!!!
Anyway.. pues alli habia algo godly.. una luz que me llamaba y me atraia..
Era un Game Cube con el juego de Smash Bros Melee..
..y habian presas..
Pues yo sali corriendo como una loka y empeze a brincar y saltar de emocion al ver tal juego... y ellos me miraban y yo a ellos y al juego hasta que uno me pregunto si queria jugar, y yo no lo pense dos veces y movi la cabeza diciendo que si...
Estaba jugando un tipo con Roy y el otro con Mr. Game & Watch a 5 stocks.
Hasta que terminaron (gano el Roy). Pues el chico me dejo el control (el que perdio) y ahi empezo :
"La Masacre de Usi".
Yo bien pro me puse mi nombre, para que me conocieran como Usi.
Y el tipo se puso King.
Eleji mi Firefly/Firesoul Sheik..
Y cuando comenzo la batalla...

Yo: Lol.. wtf.. no habian jugado con gente experta antes? (No me autoproclamo experta, fue que se me hizo raro que me catalogaran como "rapida", lo cual quiere decir que no han jugado con gente top tier o que juegue mas que yo).
Y segui atacandolo hasta que lo mate.
De 5 stocks yo le hacia 4 stock y en pocos casos mas extremos 3 stocks. De ahi no me bajaban mas nah.
Pues nah, segui masacrandolos y sacandolos 1 a 1, y ellos extra~ados (me sentia como una diosa lol..).
Y despues estuve 100% segura de que no sabian de la existencia del D.I. cuando uno de ellos dijo...
-****!! Tenias 207% y no te sacaba!! (en ingles, claro).
Yo: *Sonrisa timida y sonrojada (por los halagos)*
No jugaban TAN mal despues de todo, por lo menos tres de ellos no, el otro no sabia escojer muy bien los ataques (estaba spameando Firebird y hacia mucho Illusion con Falco). Le iba a decir que dejara eso por que no era buena idea pero estaba vaga para decirlo en ingles y no iba a escribirlo en el chat de mi DS....
Hasta me preguntaron el nombre y todo, lol... (lo cual lo escribi en mi DS xD!!).
Los tenia a todos diciendo "****!!"
Pero por lo menos conocian lo que eran el wavedash y el edgeguard, lol. No lo hacian pero uno me vio haciendolo y reconocio el nombre, mientras que con el wavedash cuando yo estaba haciendo fila, uno de ellos le pregunto al otro si sabia hacerlo y el otro le dijo que no.
Los iba a adoptar como mis mini-aprendices but...
...no tenia lapiz para apuntar sus emails ni nah...
Voy a ver si ma~ana regreso a ese lugar a ver si los encuentro y los adopto o a ver si encuentro nuevos retos y ver que tal me va.
So, Chibi Karura estuvo haciendo destrozos, har har har. Lastima que solo les pude hacer 2 chain grabs corridos na mas ;_;!! Por lo menos cuando los tiraba al aire sabian defenderse. Pero tienen mucho que aprender y mejorar (mira quien habla) pero bah, ustedes me entienden.
Fuera de eso fue cool jugar con esa gente, lol. Eran buena gente, estaban halagando mi estilo de juego (que a pesar que me falte mucho, no hace da~o alimentar un poco el ego), y estaban hablando de "wtf nos pateo!!! o_O".
En fin... hoy sue~o con eso, hahaha.

Power rankings of PR would never work (not well, anyway). I mean look, Uriel says rankings and you guys post a TIER list (one that lacks accuracy, I might add). They are not the same thing.
For rankings, panelists are required, and who will be the panelists? No one, since no one will ever agree on definite panelists besides maybe Uriel and myself. Too much bias around for a solid agreement with good choices.
If people can’t even agree on game rules (example: buda apparently thinks my rules are ****), how can we expect something like this to work without people starting to argue? By the way, a tier list has been attempted several times in the past and it has always failed for these very reasons.
My suggested panel would consist of Uriel, Mizu, Rasalas, and myself. But I’m quite sure some people will disagree and the cycle will continue. PR has serious collaboration issues.

... hehemeh... no muchos me han visto jugar... excepto bazin (torneo) lk07 q lo owneo acada rato!! (lol te quiero) obi, dman, negi, (como sea gnte nueva y no del foro) hawk creo q solo me viste pal y ni jugamos so q meh... oh and dsl a long time ago i think... zero solamente en teams cosa q no es lo mismo...creo q unos cuantos mas pero no fue mucho... so yeah q rayos solo lo digo por tripiar... veremos pronto hehehe....y q conste... no quiero formar discordias por este quote, solo estoy hablando un poko, no es q estoy confundiendo power ranking con tier lists y apoyando o lo q sea,

Yo pienso que se puede hacer un rank list basandose unica y exclusivamente al la consistencia de los jugadores. Claro, se especificaria muy claramente que la lista esta hecha solo tomando en consideracion la consistencia. Ya que creo es verdad lo que dice HDL, que es dificil ponerse de acuerdo, la idea de tener un rank list hecho solo con como la gente juega. Ademas creo que un rank list puede hacer que mas personas empiezen a ir a mas torneos para asi subir de posicion en el rank list. Recuerden, el rank list de consistencia solo mide consistencia, es como el tier list de los personajes, si yo cojo al top tier y alguien coje middle tier, no kiere decir que voy a ganar obligatoriamente.
Bueno es solo una idea, ustedes deciden. Y tampoco estoy en contra de lo que postio HDL sobre power rankings, pueden hacerlo con ese panel.

Eso es exactamente de lo que hablo, en este rank list no quiere decir que eres peor que toda esa gente, como dije, solo mide consistencia. Y tu, al verte tan bajo en la lista, tendras motivacion para jugar mejor en los torneos y asi subir en la lista, porque muchos aqui sabemos que eres bueno en melee (me eliminaste en all star tourny). No se a los demas, pero a mi me gustaria saber cuan buenos han sido mis placings en los torneos hasta el momento en comparacion con los demas. BTW yo solo estoy proponiendo esto, no me estoy ofreciendo a hacer el rank list, solo lo estoy poniendo como opcion a ver si alguien se ofrece a recopilar toda esa informacion de past tournys y hacer hacer la lista.

The whole thread and tier list is nothing but a joke., but not a funny one The only fact is that a tier list will prove nothing and will only create a lot of unnecessary discussion and fighting around. While power rankings using the tournament results seem somewhat more accurate that are still useless since some people might have had better opponents than others and there is sill some inaccuracy in the results. Plus power rankings are only used when there are prizes since it only really says who did better. The only reason people want rankings is to have some sort of awe and amusement to feel good about themselves when they see they are better than someone; in other words just to be conformists and do nothing to improve in any way their game. A while back ago when someone posted about the thread being crap, seems like people somewhat felt obligated to do one or two pages on powershielding and then the thread just became a piece of crap really quickly. Someone posts a lame attempt at being funny because they think this is some sort of lols competition, the everybody follows the same stupid crap like ****ing lemmings. Since the thread is a joke so will be the rankings on it. How can they expect to tell apart the players rankings when they're incapable of recognizing what's funny and what isn't?

-Singles- Entry fee is 15$ (unless you colaborate with a TV + GC + Smash + Memory Card, which will be 10$. Talk with Buda for more info.)
1. 4 Stocks, 6 minutes.
2. Double Elimination.
3. All sets 2/3, semis 3/5, finals 4/7.
4. Advanced slob picks - Loser picks stage, winner picks character, loser picks character.
5. Random Stages:
Pokemon Stadium
Final Destination
Battlefield
Yoshi's Story
Fountain of Dreams
Dreamland 64
6. Counterpick Stages:
Corneria
Rainbow Cruise
Jungle Japes
Green Greens
Brinstar
Mute City
Poke Floats
Kongo Jungle 64
all other stages are banned
7. Extreme stall tactics like wallbombing under stages are banned.
8. IC freeze glitch, Mewtwo Soul Stunner, and other things that make the match unfinishable are banned.

Ok, all Im saying is that there is a Power Ranking system in place which is called Top 3 Place. If you can consitantly place top 3 in professionally run tournaments then you deserve to be considered a top player. If not then you cannot consider yourself a top player. Those who are top 3 should strive to remain there, by continuing to play excellently, those arent top 3 should strive to eliminate them in tournament play and proceed to get top 3. It doesnt get simpler than this.
Dont get me wrong, there are many attributes that can be calculated on what makes a top player and many people have some of those attributes. But it takes a good sum of those characteristics to be a top competitor and top 3 placings will provide us with a good measuring stick.

I think I might be able to attend the tournament after all. But, I'm still not sure if I'm going to participate or not. Not being able to play at all since a long time has made me sucky. So maybe I'll just stick around for awhile, play some friendlies, and root for everybody.

Mera, ustedes hagan lo que tengan que hacer. Hagan su trabajo y al que no le guste pues que mejore!!! Si estamos en ese puesto es por que no los ganamos, y quejandonos no se soluciona nada. Hay que entrar en accion para callarle la boca a los que los pusieron ahi, y a nosotros mismos, hahaha. Y el que no suba de ranking o se recueste de las pajas es por que le dio la gana, y las consecuencias las sufre despues.

Agreed. This is part of why I say a ranking in PR wouldn’t work well (although it can be done). PR’s community is too small, too young, and doesn’t have enough top notch players to even be considered.
Laser Kirby, there are a lot more factors to consider when gauging a person’s overall skill. Tournament consistency alone is not the only one. If this ranking deal were to ever go down, I would base it on the following categories:
Tournament consistency - how well you usually place
Tournament attendance - how often you participate at events
Tournament importance - how big/significant the tournament actually is
Consistency in friendlies (sandbagging excluded) - usual performance against competition
Game knowledge - how well you understand the game and all its aspects
Competition knowledge - how well you understand the concepts of competition
Personal situations - sometimes **** happens and you can’t perform well for one reason or another
And yes it is true, a ranking not only does little to help anyone, but it may also give some people reason to argue, especially with the panel. I’m not deciding; this one’s on you guys.

Just to make things clear, I never said a rank list based on consistency would measure a player's overall skill, I said it would be clearly stated that this rank list was based on consistency and only consistency. I thought this would be a good idea since the list would only be based on facts and the only way to change it was by getting better at tournaments, it evades all types of arguing possible. Arguing might be good some times, but seeing how arguing goes on Puerto Rico's community I thought it better be omitted.
