I'd like to see a new sidescroller Zelda - Adventure of Link had flaws, but I think there's promise in the idea.

(as for link's awakening that kinda counts but i'm talking like 100% sidescrolling here)

First-person Sonic game a la Mirror's Edge would be cool. Also a linear 3D DK game.

Danganronpa as a Hack'n'Slash
I conceptualized a fan premise where Chiaki and Miu are the protagonists and have to navigate a hell-scape afterlife that's overrun by numerous other deceased characters from the games
It's essentially a spirital successor to Ultra Despair Girls, but in a new genre. Miu would build weapons based on famous video games for Chiaki to use

I may or may not make a fanfiction out of this. I've lost a bit of interest in Danganronpa so I'd have to probably burn througn the series again and reignite that passion

link being in sc2 for some reason makes me want a zelda fighting game in the same kind of vibe

I also vouched for an isometric 3D Kirby platformer for a while there, but seeing as Forgotten Land now exists I don't think we'll be getting anything vastly different in that dimension.

There could be promise behind a Pokémon platformer. Make it sort of like Mario USA / 3D World where you have multiple playable characters who all have different movement stats and a special ability or two.
