I kinda wish Mario games would take more measures to distinguish characters from their species, even if just with names like Kamek and Magikoopa - an obvious one would be officially christening Birdetta as, well, Birdetta and having Birdo be the species; but I also think the infamous "Yossy" romanization could be made the Yoshi species name.

I feel Namco-era Smash's best movesets design-wise have been for villains (K. Rool, Ridley, Sephiroth) and non-combatants. (Villager, Pac-Man, Duck Hunt)

As an outsider looking in, it surprises me it took this long for FNAF to make Freddy a good guy - he was replaced as main villain ages ago, right? Kinda reminds me of Donkey Kong in a vague sense, a replaced villain too iconic to neglect but not threatening enough to continue functioning alongside the newer, meaner villain - what other option is there but to make him good?

My biggest movie pet peeve is that you never see Valentines Town or Easter Town in the Nightmare Before Christmas - I understand why, there's no need to show them in the context of the plot and stop motion sets are extremely hard to make, but surely they could've put them into some cheap multimedia tie-ins like those Lion King books that gave Simba and Nala a cub?

If Multiversus won't do it...

If I were inexplicably hired to do the next Smash, I think my priorities would be

1. Deeper gameplay
2. Fixing poor movesets (in terms of balance and fun, not accuracy)
3. Going full ham on stages the same way Ultimate did fighters - trying for "Everywhere is Here!"

In terms of newcomers I'd focus on retro, historically significant and/or obscure, though that's not to say more recent characters would be locked out. Outside of Waluigi, there wouldn't be many big fan picks. I'd make a push for obscure third parties - with Knight & Ostrich being a high priority due to their moveset potential and a personal, petty moral obligation with Balloon Fight already repped; indie reps would all be obscure. I don't think I'd make the gameplay Melee fast, but I'd try to ensure good movement and a deep depth with no compromises or "gap tightening", that's what items for for! Everyone is Here wouldn't happen again, but any veteran DLC would be free. Single player content would be minimal if not non-existant, but there could be stages based on SSE and/or WoL. Aesthetic; menu music; and general tone would be much "lighter and softer" taking cues from 64 and 3DS/Wii U above all. The general design mentality would be that mechanics and movesets are designed with competitive play in mind, but stages and items are catering to casuals.

Considering how Gangplank Galleon is often considered somewhat of an anthem of casual Smash, it's kind of a shame it's locked to the relatively tame DK stages (and also 75m)

I think part of NASB's problem was that it was the first fully crossover platform fighter to be designed with fans of the overall platform fighter genre in mind and not just the latest Smash. People who wouldn't play Slap or vanilla Rivals because of unfamiliarity with the fighters went in expecting Namco-era Smash content; mechanics; and moveset design, but got something very different. Same will happen to Multiversus, same will happen if Fraymakers adds Sans/Shantae/Freddy/Boyfriend/e.t.c., and same will likely happen to the mystery platform fighters too.

I prefer multiplayers games to go for one of two extremes: no depth at all and just button mashing, or extreme depth and lots to learn.

I hate how all anthropomorphic food media has to choose an extreme between "food is deathly terrified of being eaten" and "the fact they're food and can be eaten is never acknowledged." I want an anthro food story where the food is completely fine with being eaten and can regenerate at will. The only cases of this I can think of Anpanman and arguably the Viva Pinata cartoon.

I've been getting these weird anemoia-infused thoughts lately about a video shop circa 2005 struggling to keep up with the rise of DVD. Every time I think about or consume a piece of media that came out between 2001 and 2006, I think of that damn cramped shop on a rainy Autumn evening and all it's sun-faded movie posters.
