You CAN disable the adult content from the start. It is not the draw, or even the point of the game. Despite the premise, the entire subject is handled very tastefully and the characters manage to break free not only from any stereotypes associated with their disabilities, but also from many of the typical Dating Sim cliches, resulting in a surprisingly well-written (and often emotional) tale.

Katawa Shoujo's an eroge, not hentai.

After about 2-5 hours of "gameplay" (depending on how fast you read/how wise you are in terms of relationships/which path you follow), you might get a short, usually "R-rated" sex scene... which, essentially, is entirely to help drive the narrative and further the main character's relationship (also worth noting: a few such scenes have the balls to admit "this was a bad idea", and in another few, the main character's heart problem acts up and damn near kills him).

The game may contain some minor sexual content, but to lock a thread talking about the game, especially when it hasn't really gotten into said scenes much, is like locking a thread that reviews Brokeback Mountain because it contains ****. Normally, I wouldn't make such a big deal about this, but in case you didn't notice from the OP, this game had an effect on me that very, very few pieces of media ever manage to have: severe introspection and self-doubt. I really want to be able to talk to people about it.

I'm aware you may not be the last word on this... If you are, I recommend you play through an hour or so of the game and see what I'm talking about for yourself; if you aren't, could you please point me to the person who is or relay this message to them? Thanks.

Katawa Shoujo is hentai in the same way that "Splice" is alien porn. There's literally one scene in the entire game that doesn't fall easily under "R" and only a handful that aren't G or PG. Seriously, what?
