Alright bro. I need some advice again. I have kinda came to the realization that Im not doing anything necessarily "wrong" with marth anymore. I am punishing when appropriate and have a solid game....but its come to my attention that there is something else I am missing.

I think it is reading people. I see MikeHaze do all these things and before I told myself " I can do those things too...but why does it work for him?". Its because he READS the player. He knows what they are going to do and punishes them for it. I wanted your take on how to read people or learning how to read people. I haven't developed the skill yet and I was wondering any of you higher up players had any thoughts on it, so your input would be much appreciated.

I've realized progression gets to the point on how "good" you are and not how "bad" you are. Kinda like a line in the middle...on the top is good and bottom is bad...right now Im neutral.

Alright. I've been consistently asking questions in Kadaj's ask me anything thread...i dont want to seem like im just mooching off him. Plus I dont know what he thinks of me basically turning his thread into a character match up thread. Plus I dont agree with some of the things he says. So I want your take on it.

Okay.
1. Kadaj supports a passive Marth game kind of like Mikehaze. But I believe that marth's true potential in his ability to put pressure on his opponents within his tipper zone. Of course this doesn't apply to certain MU's like MK and Diddy. Part of me thinks he should play an assertive game and part of me says..."The right way to play marth l is to play tipper marth." Your thoughts on this?

2. D3 Matchup. Kadaj talks about D3 approaching marth. Wat? He thinks its even. Didnt really go into it so i didnt bug him for more info. Your thoughts on the MU? How to beat D3? What does he use I have to know how to punish?

3. The Rob MU. I played like 3 hours of Marth vs Rob and the other guy would barely come out on top. Most of the time its because of gay crap like my DB getting interrupted by his Dsmash when I punish any of his sidesteps/dodges/airdodges and then just getting ***** by his dodges in general. Any ideas?

What exactly do i practice?

Okay. I find I have a little difficulty to completely control marth as a character. When I try to fastfall nairs they just dont seem to fastfall. Or microspacing. The peculiar thing is I don't have a problem fast falling any other aerial. Suggestions on good tech?

I don't want you to feel like your apprenticing me or anything. I just wanted some kind of outline. And you've given me a starting point which is great.

Now that I think back to some of my matches Im terrible at gimping/edgeguarding/ledge traps. Any advice on those?

Yeah I played a couple friendlies with him(marth dittos) and asked for some advice. He told me that I would walk up and shield a bunch and that I needed to put more pressure on him. But he said it in a tone/body tone that really said "I dont know where to start." Which is where it dawned on me that I simply don't know what to do in certain match ups and situations in brawl which results in me needing experience.

...controlling space...sounds pretty solid. Although Snake sounds more adept to it

The only negative thing that pops up in my mind is how long its going to take for me to not only learn but get good at all these matchups... :/ oh well.

I went to my first tourney Saturday and watched kadaj. I also noticed how terrible I was in comparison to everyone else. I've been playing wifi(lol) for 2 years now. I thought to myself what does he have that I dont? And so I came to your profile after seeing some pretty impressive posts from you hoping for an answer that would solve all my problems. But yesterday it dawned on me.....i have the same stuff kadaj has...there is no secret ingredient....the difference is that he knows the matchups and has experience. I don't.

I came here hoping for a godsend. In the end I figured it out myself.

I understand the role each of marth's attacks play along with his mobility.

But if you have any pointers to help guide me it'd be much appreciated.

To keep things short;

Pierce, I suck. I want to pick up marth. I don't know what to do, where to start, or have any knowledge on how to improve in Super Smash Bros. or any other fighter out there.

Would you care to give me some basic guidance that will inspire me to do something about my suckage?
