I've driven in every single area of the state, and it is unbelievably varied. Most of the awesome stuff to do is in Portland, though if you love Shakespeare plays and skiing/snowboarding, Ashland is a pretty awesome place too. Eugene is basically Oregon's version of Berkley lol.
It rains a *lot*, especially this time of year. It snows very little outside of the Cascades.
There's a ****load of trees everywhere (dur hur).
Especially when you're closer to the rural parts (like where I live right now), there's a lot of outdoor recreational activities going on. I live about 1.5 hours form the coast, 2 hours from Crater Lake, about an hour from Eugene, and 3 hours from Portland. So driving distances for the most part really aren't too bad despite Oregon being a decently-sized state.
And one more thing: Oregonians (as well as me obviously) aren't too fond of when people say "Ar-re-gon" or something like that
I've lived in Oregon all my life, and it's an amazing state.
