Of all the discourse Wish has garnered I gotta say the most annoying is the one where they say the main character is evil and the bad guy is good. The logic behind it is always so bad. I mean hate the movie if you must be trying say things are the wrong way round is just dumb

One thing I'd like to note about X-Men 97 ahead of the series final on wed is that it has more, what's the right phrase, it has more bite that the original series. Or it doesn't pull any punches. You look at the original series and there versions of Dark Phoenix and Proteus and they've been toned downed from the comics. But in 97 with their versions of the genosha massacre and magneto ripping the metal from wolverine's bones they did not hold back.

Today is a day for talking about the greatest science fiction story of all. It’s had many ups and downs, many exciting reveals and dubious retcons. And has starred so many wonderful characters and some truly terrifying monsters. Doctor Who may not be perfect but it is a joy to watch.

Adding on to my earlier post, the thing that made the original marvel civil war so effective was that the conflict was over an issue with no real right answer. both sides had a point, same was true for avenger vs xmen. but they seem to struggle to recreate this. from what i know of the plot of the second one the fight is over something not as effective. the idea of free will vs destiny. one of the major troubles with this is that there have been plenty of characters who can see the future in marvel so why wasn't an issue until then?

An interesting topic is that of longer story equals better character development. And there is some truth in that but I'd say longer story means more chances for character development. It'll still come down to the writers' own skills. You can give one or two characters some solid character archs in a short amount of time but that means only a handful of characters will get any. A longer story is better suited for something with loads of characters. Of course there is a point when a story can become too long but again that's down to the writers.

Knowing that Sega has “Sonic Lore Consultants” is something I struggle to wrap my head around. Sure the job title is pretty self explanatory but their existence suggests they care about canon. Which all evidence suggests they don’t. So I wonder if the job is purely symbolic. I suppose it is possible that they’re all catastrophically bad at their jobs.

On a similar note to earlier: I always find it baffling whenever someone writes a in defence of the villain thing. You know the such and such did nothing wrong and such and such was right. They always seem to be missing a fundamental understanding of the villain in question. I’m sure some of them have good points but I’ve never come across those ones
