  • DUAL BRAWL ME NOW! NOW I TELL YOU! NOW O_O LET'S SETTLE THIS TODAY! -Points.- D< ( Plus the music helps but still TODAY! )
    Thanks, but it's not like we shouldn't stop talking, I've decided something. I'm going to brawl you one last time as a red marf, And see if I really need to be as a red marf. If I win this one battle as a red marf I'll go back as a white marf. Just to be sure if that's where I belong. O_o;

Oh about that song, I really loved it. I remember hearing that song when it first came out, Yep I still love it. :3

How did you get your little status on their to say. "Smash Bash? O: "
Just looked at your Forgotten Memories thread and noticed a couple things:
-You forgot to update the title
-you left in some of my edit stuff at the beginning of the song (you could also take the quote marks off the song as well)

Thought I'd point those out before I gt off for the night.

    Later.
There's no real proof he was good, just knew more about competitive battling than me. At the time, I only really knew about EVs and natures. Everything else I knew was what's easily learned through regular gameplay.

I'd still like to play you sometime. I'd recommend you finish the league and read the SWF guide before we arrange the battle though.

    I'll check it out.
Sorry if it sounded mean, but doesn't it seem obvious to keep the strongest (high power), most accurate moves of different types (to hit as many things for SE as possible) that rely on the poke's stronger attacking stat?
I didn't think about going competitive until just before the release of Platinum. One of the game stores near me held a tourney the day before in honor of the release. I entered with a friend, won my first match, then got swept in my second by a single pokémon (Spore SubPunching Breloom). The guy who beat me also swept my friend first round, though not as bad (used a different strat). Afterward we talked a bit and he referred me to Smogon. That introd me to competitive pokémon.

If you haven't beaten at least the league, then yeah, I'd prolly win easy.
The "guide" I gave on keeping attacks (if that's one of the guides you're referring to) seems to be common sense. EVs were my first intro into the competitive side of the game, back in '04 I think it was, and are a necessary part of the game to know in order to competently play competitively. The SWF guide I linked earlier is very helpful and warrants being read thoroughly, possibly multiple times, to ensure proper understanding of everything.

I should teambuild on HG sometime and maybe we can play sometime.

A couple extra points on attacks:
-you don't have to worry as much about forgetting moves a pokémon learns through level-up due to the Move Tutor/Relearner
-don't worry too much about losing attacks learned through re-obtainable TMs (I can PM you a list of which ones these are if you want)
No, no I didn't. I forgot about it because the VM got buried. PM me it and any other vids you want me to see and I'll watch them during the week.

Which guide? No matter which, you're welcome.
I'm on the Wii from about 12pm (or whenever I decide to set it up) until 5pm (about 3-8pm for you).

Pretty sure EVs are explained in the guide, but just in case read Serebii's EV section.
Knowing which moves to keep is fairly easy, just use the following:
-keep moves of multiple different types (most important)
    -keep moves with high power
-keep moves with high accuracy (acc vs pow is a matter of preference)
-keep moves that come off of the poke's stronger attacking stat (physical moves for Machamp and special for Alakazam, for example)
-if you're afraid of moves like Counter, Bide, etc., keep one non-damaging move
-if your goal is double battles, keep moves that hit multiple pokémon
*started with 240,000HP (highest difficulty), goes Over-Limit again, summons Maxwell, starts Regal's infinite(?) combo*
Stop linking me to youtube while I'm on the DSi

As long as you know about EVs, natures, types (both of the pokémon and moves), and weaknesses and resistances (related to types) then you're a fair player. Again, read the guide I linked below and you'll gain enoough of an understanding of the competitive scene to play in it yourself. I need a decent computer and good internet before I can hope to gain experience.
*goes Over-Limit and charges with full force* I know a lot about the in-game Pokémon world; all the online battling stuff that I know, basically everyone who tries competitive pokémon knows. I won't consider myself an expert until I can gain some decent competitive experience.

Why only maybe? It can easily save space. Copypasta the info you want to keep from multiple PMs into a single PM, put
tags around each different bit of info (like I did with the chess logs) to both keep bits the info separate from each other and to prevent the page from becoming long. With all the chess games I've played with you and db combined, I have 1 PM instead of 8.
*acts like Abyssion and retaliates with your own weapon without flinching from hit* No johns. Here's a [thread=280310]Guide to competitive battling[/thread]. ShoddyBattle and Pokémon Online are online pokémon battle simulators. Most don't use wifi because 1) it's a pain to get good enough pokémon without PokeSav (AR), 2) friend codes are needed, 3) because of the whole battle efffects (attack animation, etc.), limited battery life (unless you use a charger), and the chance of disconnect, wifi battles are predominately offensive heavy (little to no stall). The Shoddy and PO get around all that: you can completely control your pokémon's moves, ability, nature, IVs, and EVs.

Combining PMs will allow you to keep important ones and free up space.
*stands ground* By "lack of experience" I mean I have never taken part in any battles. Nearly everyone in the PC uses ShoddyBattle or Pokémon Online to battle, neither of which I could likely even download, let alone run, on my computer even with good internet. Plus, as I've told you recently, the serious competitive info I try to commit to memory never seems to truly sink in. I know a few pokémon who are often used because of how good they seem to be, but most of the discussion relies heavily on movesets which, again, I can't seem to remember. Check out the PC, especially The Battle Tower subforum, and see what I mean.

Try combining PMs and resending them to yourself like I mentioned in the past.
I get enough of a grasp of the standard level metagame so I don't really need to talk to any of them.

Going to post chapter 8 soon? It's been a while since the thread had any posts.
The PC is often active, but most of the more active discussions are about serious competitive battling stuff (of which I lack experience) or are topics I'm not interested enough in to post on.
My response: reread the last sentence of my previous VM.

I'm bored. Not much to do here, but I don't really want to get off. I really need to spend a little more time offline so I can finish some of my games. Hopefully this weekend I can get myself to finish MP1 or NPC:p.
I can understand the draws of various battle systems, but like I said, if I have to wait in order to use ANY attack, I most likely won't continue. ToS wasn't too different in respects to cpu allies; they may have had a couple dumb moments, but they were more than reliable enough (for me) when I customized the overall strategies, which was easily done from the pause menu in battle if necessary. I'm not saying FFXIII's battle system is bad in any way or that I won't eventually try it, but it's not currently high on my gaming priority list.
If the battles have to take place on a different field than the overworld/dungeon itself, I prefer real-time battles like the ones in ToS1. Everything else seems to annoy me too much. I think it's due to the waiting for moves/actions to be made. I can understand if it's a skill that need time to charge or an item or whatever, but if there's no basic melee-type attack that can be executed immediately, I tend to not want to play the game.
I've always heard good things about the Final Fantasy games, but was turned off from them after my very short experience with VII since I don't like turn-based battles in video games, except for Pokémon for some reason.
Not being able to go back wouldn't bother me that much I don't think.
Actually the site hasn't displayed that you were online since 15min after that (4:27 PM pacific) because, and I've mentioned this before, if you're idle on the same page for more than 15min you appear offline.

    I'll send it now.

I've heard that game was really good. Too bad I don't have a 360 or PS3 to be able to play it myself.
It's said "Last Activity: Yesterday 4:12 PM" for me, so no. You could always go by what my page usually says since I never log out, I just turn off the system.

Finished the tips PM. Managed to find the description bit I wanted. I can send it whenever.

EDIT: Amusing, this post is exactly 24 hours from when the site said you "logged off."
Not sure whether you check VMs or PMs first, so I'll post this anyway: I sent a PM about a correction to something in chapter 8.

Also, Nameless posted a reply in the group.
    Thank you, I agree with you, I hope she stays okay too. Been crying for a while now, and I'm trying to pull myself together here. Really tough, but... as for you mister, stay strong as a white marf and still prove red marf's wrong it's going to remain that way for a long time until we die. So keep that in mind. XDDD Keep shining. o_o;
    But even mercenaries man everybody got problems >_>;

You got this he's alright 2 stocked him with Toon.

Alright I might be on if my GF doesn't want to go to the mall.
*Looks at Jbandit's post on Perfect World*
Wow you got a pretty bad target on your back even mercenaries.

    Happy You won ^_^
    *sees Wild's posts below*
At least he's trying harder to be postive.

Try to recruit a replacement for him soon, otherwise Nameless might get overwhelmed by attacks

Working on PM. Cannot seem to find the bit on descriptions I wanted to send.
Hmmm... Perhaps I am going the wrong direction...
Everyone seems to love telling me I'm wrong.
Well, I suppose I'll try something new.
Regardless of results, I am henceforth going to be happy with everything.
I shall be just like slader. :)
Yes you are but (Being honest) he was either the weakest player or weak link in your team.

Yes you and I have learned to ignore that feeling but think in his perspective you've already been there and done that but Wild is quite different.

I wish I could help in some way but I cant.

But he will get better in time
    No reason to?
What have I done in this tournament?

I've accomplished nothing. I've done nothing but hinder the team, and now I'm out of it for good.
Well one of the reasons I can think of is hes was being ganged up on by the other teams so that can really bring you down.(I would know)
    I see

Hmm... Although its not your fault even when I've played friendlies with him he always doubted himself.

Until he gets out of that state of mind I dont think tourneys are right for him at this time.
LOL, I tried... Kind of terrible for me being a red marf. O_o; I tried doing that on basic brawl still horrible habit still being a white marf on there. XDDD But yeah, don't really stall to long in battle around me It makes me want to camp sometimes too. I hate to say it but it looks like I become predictable to you. :3

and man can you pray for my mom? She's going through surgery on monday. x.x; They want to make sure she doesn't have breast cancer, so I mean I need all the help too with my mom for her to go through this. I don't want her to go down without a good fight!!!
I'm not sulking because I lost a match, I was sulking because I never win. >.>
But yeah, I'll just try and have fun. It's my last life anyway...
GGs, your Pit is kinda predictable Dual..
Multiple jabs..short step away to space.

I'll say camp as hard as you can, use more arrows, do not approach with N-air all the time.
Lag was hella annoying though..I couldn't Di from the jab & stuff..but it messed you up too I noticed.

You do know I use everyone right :3
Tthe results episodes are easily missed wiithout really missing anything important. Like I said yesterday, Tuesday at 9pm is when you want to start watching.
I might not get it to you tomorrow, depending on destractions and my focus level. I will do my best to get it to you by 5pm PST on Friday though.

I'll likely be on around noon pacific tomorrow, since that's when I've been getting on recently.

Not much you can really do to change his entire mindset. In the meantime, just keep in mind what I said about the mercs.
