Rivals of Aether - Official Thread

Hey everyone! I'm one of the March testers and I'd like to apologize for my silence over this month. I have played the build, and before I give my long winded thoughts (which should come over the weekend) I'd like to mention a couple of aspects of the game, and hopefully go more into detail...

Has dash dancing been experimented with yet? If not you could give the new character a strong dash dance game to help him get in.

Rivals of Aether - Official Thread

Not too bad sounding of an idea. Although it seems to me that giving it the same properties as an attack would lose the type of variation that grabs could bring to the game. Instead of a vine character with extend-o-grabs, why not a character with attacks that pull/vacuum in? Like vines that...

Rivals of Aether - Official Thread

If I can offer my opinion, I'd like to throw out my thoughts on the whole grabbing situation. 1. Grabs being something that every character has access too seems out of this game's current scope, as others have said. More importantly, I believe that when 4nace said that he wanted to experiment...

Rivals of Aether - Official Thread

Interesting that Orca guy is considered a zoner so strongly by this chart. Is it simply that he is the most zoner-ish character in relation to the cast, or is it that he really has strong zoning tools? From what little I've seen of the game, his ability to zone seems limited but his...

Newcomer here! Looking for general smash advice.

First thing to learn with Toon Link is how to play in a more defensive, projectile-based style. Toon Link is a rare mixture of a zoner with a strong as fast sword for close combat. This means that you can play keep away at low percents, throwing bombs, shooting arrows, and flinging boomerangs...

Rivals of Aether - Official Thread

What would you guys say the play style of each character is? Someone said earlier that there is a lack of a hard zoner character, are they all primarily rushdown based with some minor variations or is each character a different type of close-combat fighter?

I have never attended a Smash Bros. tournament in my life

The Smash4 rule set is still being decided upon, as you can see in this thread. However, the other games have their rule sets determined already. Meanwhile I'm not sure where the Brawl rule set is, the Melee one can be found here. As for counter picking, that's explained in detail in each...

3DS Community Patch Notes v1.0.4 -- Engine Changes to DI

Wouldn't it be consistent with the data to say that there is both Vectoring and DI? When looking at the video posted earlier it seems that both a vector is being added in the desired direction as well as the angle being increased or decreased in the same direction. Meanwhile holding directly...

A New Stream Approaches! (Siren Noises)

How do you deal with super fast characters?

When shield grabbing it is important to press A just while you are still in blockstun, also it is even more important not to drop the shield as you would in a dash grab. If your opponent is a melee only character like little mac or sonic, remember that you can wait for them to come to you...

How do you deal with super fast characters?

Hah "eons away", you need to try pivot grabbing with Dedede, that is some Major Range. In all seriousness though, Lucina's grab range is pretty great, beating Captain's dash grab standing and dashing. So he could always respond with a grab of his own, although that is pretty risky.

How do you deal with super fast characters?

If one of your major problems really is against dash attacks, try shield grabbing more often. It's one of the fastest things you can do OoS, and it is pretty much a guarenteed punish against most dash attacks. Albeit that's not that strong, for stronger options you have to look at a character by...

What do I do against people who dodge roll too much and play over defensively?

A few things you can do are: 1. Learn to be patient. A patient player can be the most punishing player against players who spam dodge. Sometimes just wait before letting go of an attack. 2. Learn to feint attacks. Sometimes all-out pressure isn't the best way to go, even if you can. If you know...

Smash Roundup! The Smash4 Youtube Series Thread

Thanks for the compliment! Mind expounding upon what makes us sound dorky (voices are awkward/unclear/Steve Urkel-like, phrasing of things is awkward/uses nerdy phrases/Steve Urkel-like etc.)?
