  • Normally I could excuse it as some sort of extreme Devil's Advocate (maybe he's just trying to get people to think); but the topics he's choosing to utilize it on are not topics that I like to joke around about.
Well he 's using the same type of ridiculous logic in the animal abuse thread, so I'm not going to take him too seriously from now on.
That's an interesting point. Naturally I would say pedophilia and bestiality are wrong, but as long as they don't physically act on those tendencies then there's no harm that could come of it. Although it's still kind of taboo.

And just for the record, I don't hate people because of what they're attracted to. I could have been the one born with an attraction to children or animals, but fortunately I wasn't, so I don't think it's okay to hate someone just because they're "weird" (which in this case simply means uncommon).

Like I said--if you act on these emotions, then yes it would be wrong, because no child is mentally prepared to consent to sexual activity before the age of accountability, and taking advantage of a child's trust like that is morally apprehensible. Same with animals.
My bad then. I definitely wasn't responding to you with that comment; I should have quoted that other guy.
First of all, I'm not an idiot. I read his argument before posting (which was spread across several posts), and his main point was that pedophilia and bestiality were no "weirder" than homosexuality.

Second of all, don't lecture me on context when it's obvious you didn't read back far enough into the discussion.
    Ah yeah, I get yah.

By having Catholicism being not only objected in it's own theology, do you mean they also Criticize the modern day reputations and what the denomination has done in the past? I mean, I kind of understand why Catholicism being the biased target nowadays; not entirely though. But maybe if people could understand the complexity of Catholic theology, then more people would be happy?! I'm still simple minded on how this denomination works and is justified though. Probably since I'm still really lazy to do my research.

So mate, now I am at a point where I don't know what 'type' of Christianity is correct. I was talking to some Mormons that visited my home suburb in Australia and they gave me "The Book Of Mormons" while I asked them simple questions about what they believe. They provided with crafty answers. I still want to go back to 'em and ask 'em more.

    *Sigh*
    Thanks a whole heap,

I'm happy to see that your actually a modest person :)
I really hoped my first impressions before weren't a bad one, I was really just trying to understand Christianity abit better.
Hey, can you tell me about the 'Sacraments'? and what is the purpose of it?
If you cannot be bothered to type a whole heap, then an information resource will do.
Very well then, you've made your case:). Part of being a mod is keeping the community happy.

As long as your requests are logical and within reason, I'll consider them. That was a good example of "how to." I'll talk it over with the other DH mods when they get on.

Edit: I still disagree with the actual debate we had though. I disagree with your points.
I am going to "quote" what I'm responding to in italics since you can't really use the quote option in here. My response will be in bold(to differentiate) and critical things will be underlined.
    ------------
    1. It becomes too general for outside observers to effectively follow.

    2. People within the thread who are taking a different portion of the discussion have much more difficulty following the other branches.
    -----------------
So far, I haven't heard a complaint, and while we had our 1 on 1, Hive and Alt/RDK successfully ignored us and continued their 1on1. They never pm'd me with a concern, and I have told them both to be very honest with me about any concerns or things that are bothersome. I keep an open door policy.;)

    -------
But the downside is that it hurts the ability of anyone to absorb the thread as a whole because the line of discussion and the different branches become too impossible to follow at once, hurting the education value for outsiders and those on different branches.
    -----
To the underlined text and actually, that entire paragraph, refer to my first reply in this message.

    ---------------
Since I place a premium and being able to use prior debates as future educational tools, so I believe that an outsider should be able to come in and get educated without being overwhelmed due to the simple wideness of the topic.

Your prime interest seems to be (and correct me if I'm wrong) on the education of the people that are debating at the time.

I think the best way of balancing those interests is creating a new thread when it gets too off-topic
    ------------
First of all, in terms of being organized and spam-free, we are the best room in SWF. That is a fact. People can come in and read the topic's title(which is the whole point of a title, a mini thesis) and already have a generalized direction of what to look for in posts. If someone wanted to actually discuss agnosticism, they could have easily followed Alt/HIVE/RDK/Reaver. If they wanted to delve into our slightly off topic 1on1, they could have done so too. You really shouldn't underestimate a lurker's ability to choose what they want:-p.

About making new topics, I'll talk it over with Med and CK so we don't have these sort of problems again. Hope you're not upset with me:(.
I don't think so, as most of the time there seems to be 1 vs 1's or 2 vs 1's on different branches of the actual topic.

And I disagree, the deeper you go into the "reasons for," the more educational the thread becomes. Principles of principles, facts about facts, ect.
Do you really value keeping things on topic over learning? Not to say we should abuse it, but it seems you were rather interested. Besides, you know as well as me that agnosticism stretches farther than religion.

What is the point of learning from each other if we don't study the reasons behind our points?:) You have nothing to say about my last post in the agnosticism thread? No need to even post it there, leave me your thoughts/suggestions on my profile.
I have to go to sleep, gotta wake up in 6 hours for classes. Thanks for the debate, I had fun teaching and learning.
Hey, I posted up all the vids. The older ones of me v. you, and the newer ones from when Jordan was here. Pretty sure you know my youtube acct.
wait what? did I debate you somewhere and not realize it?

sorry. I just posted from memory about sonic. I'm quite familiar with the matchup.
Epic, wish i had a 0 point offense. Maybe I can ask xiivi to give me one just so I can laugh about it.
    XD I try hard.

Though I've come close to getting banned. I had 5 points a month ago.
    Why?
    one word.
    Hylian.
Apparently, no one can argue against my proposal in Tournament Discussion....:(

    How should I feel?
I saw you in one of the Marth Melee threads.

I'm doing good, finished with finals?
I still RP on occasion. I'm hoping that I can blossom into a full-fledged writer one of these days (but certainly not before I have an actual career). But that's cool to know that you used to do it.
