A version where the suit is white, like that new picture of normal Samus in a white suit.

I was bored waiting for the character reveal last night so I worked on this. Not really good IMO but it was my first time trying to make an alt costume for pre-existing artwork.

Heels on the Zero Suit is one thing, but heels on that kind of outfit is just.. gah! Feels so out of place! Good editing work though still.

Yeah, I felt so too but seeing jets of energy coming out from the military boots just seemed odd to me.

I'm confused as to why people find these images so offensive, or deem them unusable in Smash because of kids playing. All of these images are from E-rated games. With no mention of "suggestive themes" or "mild nudity" in the rating system. I think you are guys are overreacted to Samus showing a little skin. I, personally, would like to see some of these as alternate costumes, not to "fap" to, as someone here suggested, but rather to see all the different Samus' that we've had over the years. I mean, isn't that what Smash Bros. is all about? A celebration of everything Nintendo has done? Also, military fatigues from Other M would be great.

Yeah, people get offended too easily. It's nothing that you wouldn't see at a beach.

@ Dark Dude Dark Dude , those outfits only appeared for a few seconds in those respective Metroid games, they were a reward for beating the game quickly. Being able to play as her in those outfits in the game would be kinda stupid, and maybe constitute those rating descriptions as you previously stated. Those outfits are more "zero suit" than "Zero Suit," if you know what I mean. That's why I'm more of a supporter of the top/shorts and Justin Bailey outfits. The top/shorts are like the Zero Suit but cropped at the midriff and legs, and the Justin Bailey outfit is a jumpsuit like the Zero Suit. The three you posted would be great if they had more coverage, I think it'd be kinda weird fighting Samus in what is equivalent to a swimsuit or underwear.

While I don't even care about those costumes (I just want a Justin Bailey color swap) but I don't think that them being shown for a short amount of time matters... They put in an alt color for Mario that was only on the cover for a snes golf game that wasn't even popular, and he didn't wear it in the game....

IN spite of the slight oddity of the boots, it actually looks pretty good.

Nintendo aren't going to exclude one of their primary markets just so you can get yourself off to Samus in a thong. It's a ridiculous argument and it's not going to happen. It's a mass-market game, not a softcore porno. Not going to happen.
Kids also go to water parks and beaches, where you see tons of women dressed just like that. It's a basic two piece swimsuit.I get what you're saying but referring to it as "softcore porn" is a bit... I dunno. I can't really agree on that particular point. If you can dress that way in public and not get arrested then I can't really think of it as "porn", but it's also a fact that if you live around beaches you often see signs on stores that say "No shirt, no shoes, no service".

That said I'd think it'd be more tasteful to include the outfits she wears in the good endings of fusion or zero mission over a straight-up swimsuit. With the outcry against heels already I can't imagine what the response would be to thong Samus, regardless of whether or not it was justified. I'm also liking the civvie clothes and military fatigues. I know people hate Other M but aside from the Ridley freakout and the "where's waldo" sections it really wasn't that bad.

I actually don't mind either of the Ridley freakout and Where's Waldo sections. :p The biggest offenders for me are the "authorisation" subplot, her relationship with Adam and the general sentiment that she needs protection from the entirely male supporting cast. That said, I still really like the game and elements from it being included in Smash doesn't bother me at all. Give me Other M alt costumes any day. :)

I really can't see the authorization subplot as anything other than poorly thought out game design, as it really doesn't fit the profile of abuse or control nearly as much as people say it does. That said, as a game design choice, it's pretty insane to think that Samus would let herself get killed just because Adam didn't tell her use the big guns. As for her needing protection... eh. She spends more time protecting others than being protected.

Actually... the fact that you think that makes me wonder if you've finished the game yet, because...

Samus isn't the only female human of importance in the cast.

I have beaten the game - a few times - but not recently. :p And I'm aware that she's by no means a damsel in distress in Other M; my comment on being protected by males had a few select moments in mind (if I'm misremembering dialogue/scenes and my comment is actually unfounded, I apologise :p). And yes, you're right - "entirely male" isn't accurate. I was only thinking about the group of characters introduced at the beginning. :p

The authorisation subplot bothers me first and foremost both because it's highly illogical - as you said - that she would withhold her abilities in a life-threatening situation. I don't see it as abuse; it just comes across to me as somewhat out of character and poorly thought of. :)

It's true, and the other two girls are highly forgettable anyways. Despite the fact that they should be very important to the story, very little development is actually given to them.

Yeah, it happens. Anthony protects Samus no less than twice, and the both times that I can think of are vs. Ridley in different levels of maturity.

If there was a Justin Bailey recolour that didn't remove the lower half of the suit, I'd be all for it. :p The colours are great.

...But then it isn't "Justin Bailey"
Well, Samus' Fusion Suit recolour also isn't the Fusion Suit... :p The point of recolours is to reference the outfit, not to represent it exactly - which is what alt costumes are for - but I do highly doubt that it'll be an alt costume of hers. :p

Well it's not like colouring the legs skin colour is going to need a new model

As long as it doesn't show any booty skin then I'm all for a complete Justin Bailey alt costume.
I agree with this. I really just want to play as HD ZSS with green hair and a pink suit. I don't really care about Justin Bailey, but her colors are just really cool.

Yeah I agree with your agreement. Even if it's just a color swap I'd be fine with it, I just want that pink suit and green hair to make it in haha.

Yeah, green/pink all the way. Just no skin, thanks. :p I really don't want the controversy around ZSS' sexualisation to get any worse.

It's just a jumpsuit that a gymnast could wear (sans the boots, of course), so I don't think that showing some leg like that would be bad at all. Think Wonder Woman. It's not overly gratuitous like the Metroid II and Super Metroid ending outfits either.

Fusion ending, Zero Mission ending, and Justin Bailey all the way.

There is never anything wrong with showing leg.

I like the idea from this fan art that the lighter colored parts of her legs were like tights, though.

i KNOW. it's really aggravating, i mean i understand why some people would get upset, but its in the game, it's not changing, she looks great in my opinion, and i can't wait to play as her.

Not to mention, Samus is pretty kawaii in a crop top and shorts. Pretty much the reason I want them as alt costumes.

Honestly I'm just tired of hearing about it at this point. It's no longer possible for me to take that argument in any sort of serious light. I used to think "well as long as she doesn't look like Bayonetta I don't really care", but now I'm just like "I don't really care either way."

If you're talking about Fusion and Zero Mission ending ones, I'd be all for that. I actually prefer those to the Zero Suit.

Yeah, I was talking about those. And I agree. I mean, the Zero Suit design is pretty cool. But she definitely looks way cooler and cuter in a crop top and shorts. I mean, it just fits who she is better, I think, or just compliments her look. It also kinda takes the emphasis off of "Whoa it's Samus in a skintight bodysuit, that's hot" and onto "Whoa, Samus without a suit, still badаss" despite a crop top and shorts being technically a more revealing outfit. For me, at least.

when i first saw her being announced in the smash direct live, i wasn't disappointed at all, i didn't analyze her
sex appeal, i didn't dissect her outfit choices or her waistline, her chest or her shoes, i saw her as zero suit samus.
i was tearing up and crying because she looked like she was going to beat everyones :4pacman: in this game.

The crop top and shorts (Blue and Orange) were confirmed in today's pic of the day!

In my opinion, the best options for alternate costume
