Me playing Shulk just consists of a bunch of random SH nairs in speed stance hoping I hit something. I suck with the character.

I have to get better with speed art, but the thing is, every time I spend with one or two arts, I usually discard and forget the other

This is what happened when I was making that buster guide. I spent too much time with buster then loved the art

Just want to clarify something about his frame data, and why it's Dedede-bad

His range is disproportionately huge compared to the roster. It's even a level above Marth's. The only character who has slightly less range than Shulk overall is Dedede but his frame data is comparable to Shulk's. The range of Shulk's normals are meant to zone out opponents. You can't really go nuts with it unless you cross up with n-air.

So basically, the disjoint compensates for the frame data

This is usually the mindset of other players but it's harder in practice. You'll profit more from shield grabbing but there are ways Shulk can make his moves not punishable

MALLC may alleviate the shield grabbing issue

Thing with people is that, they're all like, "Shulk's frame data is garbage. Imma stomp you lololol," and they still get bopped.

Shulk's frame data makes me feel good about Dedede.

All of Shulk's other attributes make him by far the better character though. Frame data is important but it isn't everything, Shulk has plenty of numerical advantages in other categories (especially with Monado Arts amplifying things).
