That's cool! Yeah I've always loved Woody too. It's one of the characters I've identified with the most in my life, hahaha. It's really great to find someone in here who's into western animation . It's a rare breed of people in SB. What's your favorite animated movie? I mean that in general, not just western.
I'd say mines are The Incredibles, Princess Mononoke and The Rescuers Down Under.
People always said that Peach was clunky and slow when the game first came out, but I had a feeling she'd be good and prove those people wrong. I'm sure now that in time, people will find her strengths and she'll be very high up there in the tiers, repping the women alongside Boozelina and Zero Skill Spamus. :^)
Also, my custom Dorf set is 2132, but I'm kinda starting to hate UpB 3. It literally has no horizontal recovery whatsoever, so I legit die after a sick DownB 2 edgeguard off stage. Might switch to UpB 2 because of that.
But anyways for Ghibli:
Spirited Away (just one of my favorite movies in general)
Princess Mononoke
Howl's Moving Castle
Kiki's Delivery Service
The Wind Rises
(only seen those so I don't want to recommend others, but I'm sure they're great)
W-well I was going to take a picture of my n64 with ssb64 in it next to my NES with smb3 and SNES with Yoshi's Island and call you all young again, but if that's what you meant...
I learned stuff like wavedashing, L-cancelling, IC handoffs, etc. in Melee but I only had CPUs to play against. Barely played Brawl at all because tripping was obnoxious and I liked Melee's event challenges and adventure mode (and Mewtwo). 4's the first one I technically took "seriously" I suppose.
Custom Dorf is the truth. All his customs are really good. My preferred set is Flame wave, Warlock punch, Dark fists and Drop kick. Works really well
Custom journal #920424:
Hyper arts is legit but it's so boring. I have to appreciate and learn to love Vanilla/Lavani (lol) mode. It's laaaame. I'm even beginning to prefer decisive arts because DBuster and DSpeed are amazing
why are you not using blade you need to use blade it is so crazy good
I get the feeling I'd prefer Decisive if I played Shulk. DSpeed and DJump sound like fun. I wasn't crazy about Hyper when I was briefly experimenting with it the other day, felt too short to do anything and buster has no hitstun and smash gets you killed at 0%
I knew Peach was technical and I knew Dark.Pch has amazing write ups, but dear Nayru, those are some beast techs. Peach definitely will be a solid character if someone can show results with her.

Yeah. I'm having much more fun with DArts if anything. I might force the customs discussion in the Shulk boards to go back to Decisive arts once hyper arts is finished
He said YOU'RE trash for using a low tier...I have nothing against people who use top tiers, but he'd be the trash one for using that horrible monkey crap.

In terms of movement, Toon Link and Link definitely gain a lot from pivots since their Ftilt covers so much. Toon Link can make use of his speed for juking while Link can bait a roll, spot dodge or something for a Dash Attack.
I've been messing around with Link and I think my Link is fairly decent and unorthodox. It's the ability to not only wall out your opponent with projectiles, but confuse them with projectiles as well. Instead of throwing Gale Boomerang towards someone, throwing it behind you and using the gale might be a way to set up something. I remember landing a Shield Breaker by riding the gale, so what if I can use it to trick someone from going into that direction and having the gale push them towards me? Throwing Bombs just creates another thing for the opponent to remember and think about. Dash Attack seems more useful as a punish and an edgeguard. Link transitions from direction to direction while running fairly fast so pivot Ftilts are the bomb. In the right hands, Link will surely be dangerous. Plus, the way I play him makes people want to come back and fight because I'm not a spammer Link, but this weird dude who makes you wonder how the hell he knew that Bomb would hit me after he knocked me into it with a Ftilt?
Same thing with Toon Link, but you sort of have to play like Sonic with actual projectiles. Speaking of Sonic, after watching 6wX, I feel like using Sonic speed alone can confuse people since most people expect Sonic to just camp with Spin Dash or Charge. Homing Attack is a good punish and a way to delay an attack and hover over to counter.
The more tricky you get and the more unorthodox you play with characters, the more it makes them even more dangerous. Would you expect Mario or Dr. Mario to use Fair and fast fall it into you? Or Toon Link running around turning and not attacking, but when you rush in, a pivot Ftilt slams onto your face. It's the predictability of a lot of player's styles that makes them easier to defeat after you notice them over and over. It's why I love watching 6wX because he will change everything on the fly and then Luma takes the hit for Rosalina and uppercuts him past the blastzone. I knew what happened at Apex, but watching 6wX fight Dabuz, I really, really wanted him to win.
Once I played as her online - singleplayer wasn't much to gauge from - I knew she was a solid character and I think I smiled throughout match to match with her. This was before I met you. The only thing is I didn't know was how far she could go and her techs. It was like finding out about Sonic's run off Fair yesterday or getting hit by Ganondorf's run off Uair and remembering that someone said it. It's tech after tech, trick after trick, and application of different moves that make impressions of characters grow more and more positive.
I totally would do local if there was an actual competitive scene arround me so yeah. Also I'm 15, can't drive yet. Also don't have money for gas, hotel, food
For starters Princess Mononke and Spirited Away are a must. They're both not only great movies, but they have BEAUTIFUL animation, so they're a true gem for animation enthusiasts. Talking about anime films, I really recommend Sky Crawlers and Perfect Blue. End of Evangelion is also one of my favorite animated pieces because it's so well done, but that's more subjective, I think.
Oh, now that I think about it, I also absolutely adore Treasure Planet and Atlantis even if the second rips off some old anime.
My dad is surprisingly supportive of me doing stuff such as going to places to practice and take part in tournaments. Helps that he's a gamer too. Hell, he even bought me a capture card just so I could record things and do streams.
Now I only need to learn how to speak English without forgetting words every sentence I try to say so I can actually record some commentary.
My dad would support me, but my mom would almost definitely be against it, so I never bother to approach her about it. That's why I'm waiting until college/after I turn 18 to take part in local tourneys.
I'm a Brawl gen too, though I only started playing seriously once I got Super Smash Flash 2. I play all the Smash games at least a bit though even though I emulate Melee atm. Am I allowed to say that?

Treasure Planet is definitely an underrated classic considering it was released alongside Dinsey's subpar films. I've seen images of the Ghibli films and I enjoy their use of color for their characters (Spirited Away being a prime example).
I still have a CD with Evangelion "legally" burned onto it thanks to my friend. I should check out the original anime.
I'm a Brawl gen too. I actually didn't even know Melee existed for a while. If you want a 64 genner, talk to @Twili .
I'm 16. SHIPPERS STAY AWAY.
I can't really go to tournaments. Texas is like a dead zone, and they're all too far away from me.
As for that "offense vs defense" thing, I think I'm kinda in the middle. I used to play hyper defensive with pretty much all my characters back in Brawl. It started getting a little boring, and it stopped working so well when Smash 4 came out. I even had people tell me that I'm a pain to play against, lol. I've been working on my offense for a bit now, so I guess I'm balanced. I switch between the two frequently.
EDIT: Btw gorls I got a kill with Din's the other day.

The original anime is mostly interesting because of how much they managed to do with so little budget, hahaha. Tbh the direction in the series is very good just because even in shots that are basically a still image that lasts for like 2 minutes you're paying a lot of attention just because of the dialogue, and stuff like that.
It can be a little exhausting though, not because it's overly complicated, as people make it out to be, but because everyone is ****ed up in a very angsty teen kind of way and it can really get on your nerves at times.
End of Evangelion has incredible animation, though.
