Hold up, a Pokemon sun/moon theory just hit me. I'm going to post it here first, since you gorls are an active bunch and Smashboards has been my online hangout lately, then I'm going to share it with other places later. I haven't used my Serebii forum account for a good while now, it may be about time to change that.
So I was looking at Lunaala, and I noticed something I didn't see before. It has a skeletal theme to it.
And you know what else has a skeletal theme? Team Skull. And you know what doesn't have a skeletal theme? Solgaleo. So why would the new bad guys be dressed up like the moon pokemon instead of the sun pokemon? Because we already have a team for that.
"But that was last generation". But can we really call that a complete generation? We never got a Pokemon Z, afterall. They saved Zygarde's gimmick for Sun/Moon, for whatever reasons. I think that they were just testing the waters with X/Y. It was the transition from 2D to 3D. They already experimented with ride pokemon. Rhyhorn, Mamoswine, Gogoat and Skiddo in X/Y, then Sharpedo and Lati@s in ORAS - novel ideas, but aside from Sharpedo, they all seemed incomplete. Not to mention we can't forget the Strange Souvenir, and the bizarrely low count of entirely new Pokemon species introduced.
Not to mention that Lysandre's signature pokemon is a lion of all things. One generation, we get a sun-themed evil team with a fire lion, and next gen, we get a sun-themed game with a legendary solar lion. I'm not usually one for crazy fan theories, but this all just clicked together to well for me.
I'll bet I'm not the only person who drew this connection already either. People were speculating from the begging that we'd be getting new games just from the souvenir and lack of new mons as well. I doubted it at the time, but hey, I'm wiling to except that I may of been wrong in that instance.
TL;DR: Team Flare is coming back.
I just needed to get that out of my system before I said something more thought out. Off to the land of Celebis I go!
