Petalburg Woods: EODM07 the Lv5 Spheal
Route 106: Burgundy the Spinarak

I have been rocking with these okay-for-beginners Pokémon, but I've had already face difficult trainer foes, including but not limited to: Bayleef (twice), Kadabra, Dragonair, Lapras, Lugia, Registeel, and Wally has a Mew.

And I can't even properly grind because nearly every wild Pokémon is a Cleffa or Igglybuff.

BTW:
Evan the Makuhita died in a terrible Registeel Explosion. She will be missed.

And then my house got a power issue, it lasted like 3 seconds but I lost some progress: The Spinarak bit.
So I am at a moral dilemma between go catch the Spinarak and pretend nothing happened or get to Rout 106 again and catch something else. I guess it would still be Burgundy.

I stopped following the thread after my last post because notifs stopped appearing and I was too lazy to come visit this thread again manually. Some semi-lurker I am. No one has named a pokemon after me while I was gone, right? If I'm wrong, you better of given my name to something deserving. Like a Mewtwo or a Rattata or something.

Also Marowak's new form is cool. I figured from Gamexplain's speculation that it'd be a fire type, but now I feel silly for not realizing it'd also be part ghost type. I mean, I always figured a Mega Marowak would be Ground/Ghost, after all.

The new fish and sandcastle are, uh, interesting, but I'm not going to go all genwunner over them. I'm not a fan, but I can appreciate the concept behind them.

I don't care much for the new Meowth form, but I expect the anime I haven't watched in ages will do something fun with it.

My luck is unforgiving.

I took the "nothing happened" route and this is the result:
Route 116: Burgundy the Slakoth
Rusturf Tunnel: BJN39 the Spinarak (we couldn't avoid fate).

Then there was a grinding session to get everyone to Lv15 and face the Rustboro Gym.
The battle with Tsutsuji was... brutal.
Her team was Kekleon, Murkrow and REGIROCK.
Donuts the Meowth died to Kekleon's Pursuit when I tried to switch it back, then it took some serious effort to beat Murkrow... Rizen was dealing with Regirock well enough, standing through its Rock Slides until she managed to Disable them, then switched to EODM7 to finish the job with her Water Gun.... Except it decided to explode too...

RIP both (Suicidal) Donuts and EODM7.

Then nothing too eventful happened until Dewford City.

Granite Cave: Furret the Sentret (this one was on purpose).

And then the cave had Dratinis and Marils and Elekids in it. But I got the Sentret.
I also found a shiny Sentret, I caught it because it was coo but I don't plan on using it.
Then I decided to test the Gym and there an Alakazam crit'd a Confusion on Koiba the Whismur (and it was so close to evolve). Rip for ha too.

Let's grind a bit more to try to beat Touki.

So far I've also faced trainers with Seadra, Kingdra, Dragonite, Steelix, Marowak, THAT Alakazam, and Heracross.
At least Furret is a Furret now.

EDIT 1: To be fair, there is a lot of speculation about Cubone to begin with, it is said it wearks its mother's skull, and some have said a stray Kanghaskan's cub becomes Cubone when this happens.
There are tons of theories about them.

I never though the Cubone/Kangashkan theory ever held up. Marowak is ground type, Kanga is normal type. Marowak is skinny, Kanga is fat.

Yeah, they're bipedal with cartoon dinosaur tails, but that was the norm back then. Rhydon, Nido(king/queen), Lickitung, Machop, Psyduck, Slowking...the list goes on. Heck, even the Poké Maniacs dress like that. There's about as much resemblance between Marowak and Kanga as there is between Marowak and Golduck.

A Little Mac was constantly winning due to lag and that he was spamming out Smash Attacks. Which was ALL he did, there were the occasional Side Bs and KO Punch. But other than that, it was just a spamfest of Smash Attacks. It was just awful.

Well, Shirodesuna, the big one, is while the little one, Sunabaa, not really outside of the shovel sticking out its head like an arrow that was shot into it. Also, apparently, "shiro" can also mean "castle" in Japanese. Depends on the character and probably the pronunciation... I'm going to name mine: "White Castle". I don't think that will fit, though...

I might name mine after the castle in the UK "Windsor Castle". :V

If it'll fit that is. If not, I can always reference one of the stages from Spyro or Crash.

Sand castle Pokemon is pretty fun looking and continues the line of neat "haunted object" ghost-types. (Ex: Gourgeist/Trevanant/Chandelure)

And if ghost snowman leak really is a thing we'll get even more of that yas.

I'm expecting/hoping for more "Forest's Curse" or "Trick or Treat" moves as well from these haunTed Peauxkemon.

Edit: It would also be neat to see those two moves shared with more Pokemon. Plenty of more "magic/mystic" grass types could learn forest's curse ez, and just about every ghost type would thematically fit with trick or treat.

Yeah, that thought popped up in my head. I don't care for Garbodor, though. Then again, that's probably like most people who look at all the Pokémon and only have a selection of what they like. The other part is that it's just unappealing to look at... it's literally garbage, but whatever. If people like Garbodor, then whatever. Same thing with Vanilluxe. It's ice cream! I don't really care... Do as you will. I do understand people not liking stuff, but at times, I don't get why there's a sort of need to just scream their lungs out of their displeasure of a handful of Pokémon. Look, if you don't like it, then ignore it. Someone else is bound to like it and someone else is bound to just not care about it.

Sandcastle pokemon are cute and I like them a lot. Chandelure/Vanilluxe are bae, so another inanimate-object-turned-animate is always welcome.

Still don't like fat rabbit bear raccoon thing, but its pre-evolution at least cuter by comparison.

Alolan Meowth is great. I really like it. I'm excited to see Alolan Persian.

Alolan Marowak is meh. I never really liked Marowak, so its Alolan variant just comes off as a lame attempt of being edgy.

New fish is lame. Single fish is kinda cute, but school form is really uninteresting. At least it's better than Basculin.
