I don't think they've ever confirmed a balance patch, Nintendo just leaves it to us to figure everything out as a patch hits.

People are just assuming because patches that add content usually come with balance changes.

edit because I don't feel like making a new post for this
I really don't see how he isn't higher on the tier list. Very well made character IMO.
The flaws I mentioned are pretty non-trivial, but his range is good, his damage output is good, his movement is stellar, he has a solid projectile, has safe pokes/pivot grab...he has attributes that make it pretty much impossible to be bad, mixed with some oddities that prevent him from being the best.

Completely unrelated, I didn't notice until last night just how great Wario's tilts are and how much his smashes suck.

I hope that if sheik gets nerfed it doesn't completely gut her. High level sheiks are fun to watch.

It would be nice to not have her invalidate half the cast though.

also I have this sinking feeling that Rosalina's going to be nerfed. D:

Anywho, #BuffRobin, #BuffRosalina, #BuffPalutena ect ect.

If there's a balance patch I'll pray to Arceus and hope that Pikachu gets buffs so that no one sees it as pessimistic trash, especially the competitive forums :]

Honestly if they nerf Fair to the point where it won't combo into its self, i really hope they restore bair then.

Well if we're talking about what specific buffs we'd like..

For Robin I just want arcfire to be faster. Comes out faster, travels faster and can act out of it faster. I'll take a damage nerf in return but that will make Robin the best for me. There's nothing else I care about that much. Robin being faster would be nice but that will never happen so eh.

...That's it really. I don't even know if that's a good robin buff, but its the only one I really want.

Fullmoon and Lavani pretty much covered everything about Greninja. Just outside of top 10 at best, ~top 20 at worst. Greninja's a character with a lot of strengths and few flaws, but his out of shield game and laggy moves are a big detriment to him, especially in the Sheik matchup, which is most important in the metagame. The buffs have helped immensely though: he has a more solid neutral with the faster shurikens and f-tilt and the D-throw buff helped him to get more combo mixups and a solid kill setup from a grab.

I'm glad that My Smash Corner sees Mr. Frog in such a high light, but I think he might be focusing too much on his combo game and mobility and didn't really catch those two flaws that he has.

hey, at least uber frog isn't perceived as pessimistic compared to not fully evolved electric mouse :^)
I really don't get what set people off about this? Was it ESAM getting 13th at Paragon? End of the customs hype? Pikachu's still crazy good and was from Day 1. Quick Attack is amazing, his edgeguard game is awesome, he has a kill setup from U-throw/D-throw that is easy to read the DI for, he's mobile as heck and has a tiny hurtbox (and can crawl to make it even tinier). His range isn't even bad when the moves that he's going to be using in neutral (D-tilt, T-jolt, F-air, QA on occasion) having decent range and/or are just really quick. Solidly top 5, no less than top 10 for sure.

Great matches McKnightlíght McKnightlíght ! You did good and those matches were really fun!
Haha, you could probably tell I was off (for whatever reason) because of all those SDs where I was like half an inch from grabbing the ledge.

Robin is so hard to gain momentum on. I felt like I couldn't combo you at all. Ike already hates projectiles so not hurting you really makes that an uphill battle. But how the heck did you tank hits up to 150%?! Is Robin a secret heavyweight or something?!

And I didn't even use Nosferatu once! Honestly I find Robin living to absurd percentages as well despite not being a heavyweight. I don't know why It happens. I think that maybe you weren't hitting me with the sweetspot of your attacks? Or maybe I just DIed really well I honestly don't know.

I think the main problem you had in our matches was continually ending up on platform stages. Robin REALLY likes platforms. A lot. Platforms mean we can camp. You saw on battlefield how I would stand under a ledge and block you out with arc fire right? Also it allows for Uair shenanigans. This allows us to keep momentum(? I hope i used this right) and our Thunders can keep pressure even at a distance while we're safe hiding under a platform. A good way to deal with Robin would be to take us to any flat stages. Robin can't camp all that well on flat stages, so FD, DH and smashville are good picks. Though smashville is pretty okay for us I think.

Or you could just pick Castle seige and ruin us completely. Each transformation has something robin hates. Small fighting area, projectile blocking pillars and a flat stage that tilts. ;D

If you want a better opinion though, you should go ask the Robins, they know so much more than I do. I might be getting a lot wrong. :halfsheep:

Thanks for the matches! And yeah I did notice you were off your game a little. Feel free to ask for rematches anytime! :D

Ike likes platforms too so I kept defaulting to them. I guess I'll have to try out different stages next time.

I also need to figure out how to punish with something besides DA. But you could shield everything else.

Grab. Ikes grab is pretty fast I think. Ike can Dthrow/Uthrow to Fair for a decent chunk of damage. The one thing I didn't mention that I noticed was that you never grabbed. I think I would have been in a more dangerous situation if you capitalized on grab opportunities more.

Also eruption at the edge will get Robins recovering more often than dair will. Especially if we're recovering low rather than high. (Recovering high on a flat stage also leaves us open to Usmash, U air, Utilt or bair I think.)

Yeah, I didn't notice that I didn't use a single grab until the last game. Like I said, way off my game lol. I also know eruption is a great edgeguard if you're low, but you seemed to always be reviving high.

I think usmash or uair would work then. I know a few times you tried, but I had platforms to stop me from getting smashed. :p I wish I could offer more sound advice but my ike experience is like, for glory, you, and three weeks "maining" him. which isn't alot. D:

why do I ever bother reading twitch chat

why do even tournament-level players insist on spreading misinformation

McKnightlíght McKnightlíght I totally thought you were dead here. But then I realized you had your jump :^(
Also, I'm sad that Ike's jab is faster than Shulk's.

I went through some of my older replays.

Mac's KO punch meter disappeared for some reason here.

So gorls I've been playing FF5 again. What a fun game! I especially love the fabulous Blue Mage design class!

How's this ol' social thread been while I was gone? Any stunning revelations?

I love this clip. Just your typical 6% to 2% trade~

SpiralGalaxies SpiralGalaxies We'll have to play some more. I tend to learn more in breaks from Sm4sh as opposed to long playing sessions. I'll watch some more Ryo and then we'll duke it out again :p

I was wondering, is there an easier way to punish you when you keep aethering at the edge?
I know Mac can armour through it with dsmash but I'm not sure what Shulk can do besides trying to use an aerial.

You know your fsmash that's the size of Russia?

Angle it down when he regrabs the ledge.

You have to space and time it perfectly, plus I can just poke him through the stage with my sword if I see him charging.

I would say either counter or just wait tbh. Me and Kenniky had this discussion and we found that it's just best to stick back. You could always try running offstage and bairing me into oblivion. *shrugs* I dunno, maybe it could work.

He already mastered the Manado Arts, why can't he shield AND Fsmash? Nintendo's so unrealistic -.-

I don't think vision hits people on ledge, plus its hard to vision aether. Bair seems too slow.

Honestly I think I should try using a RAR Fair. (thats a thing, right?)

Either that or try fsmash. Aether's ability to poke under the stage is kind of ridiculous though.

^ But furries are real.

Nammy12 Nammy12 Seriously, just wait it out. I won't stay under there forever because of the regrab limits. Or you can come out and get dunked if you wanna.
