I get that feeling. There are some games wherein romance feels like it was slapped in there because.... reasons.

For example, Mass Effect's gay romance felt forced according to some gay gamers that I know. Another game would be.... Indigo Prophecy or Farhenheit for PC users (I think). Unless you're done with the game or if you know the plot, I felt like Indigo Prophecy/Farhenheit would be less convoluted and weird if there wasn't any romance forced onto it

It's really hard to make enemies look legit scary. Only a few games manage to do that so well

There are different ways to scare people. One is what was said already, you make the atmosphere and environment so scary, the player is always on his or her toes whenever he or she does anything. Second one but difficult, you make the enemies scary. Not much developers can pull this off really well (Fatal Frame does it right imo). Third and the most overused one, make it a thriller-ish/jump-scare fest. Y'know, like those games where you keep running away and hiding from everything. It's not a bad thing at all. Some games pull it off correctly (Outlast + That awesome DLC, Amnesia).

I'm a big fan of psychological horror myself. It's kinda why I'm interested in Silent Hill where the monsters and all have like a psychological link with the protagonist or villain of the game (at least the ones I've seen) which I find really interesting.

So far my favorite horror games have been Corpse Party and Silent Hill, I was really disappointed they canceled Silent Hills even though I probably wouldn't play it because I'm a pansy.

I think I'm going to a big tourney Saturday...

It's an hour away and I won't be able to sleep at all before I go so driving back could be a nightmare...

I'm highly considering it though, I know I won't be great, but it should be fun!

I haven't seen Corpse Party yet. Silent Hill is really good but like you, I'm too much of a ***** to play that game :(

I don't know if Sonic can drive me home though.....

If it lasts as long as I think it will I'll have to stay up for at least 28 hours maybe 30 or more depending on how many scrubs I face well I do.

@ SBphiloz4 SBphiloz4 okay, np. My wifi just DCed when I tried to edit this post so it probably isn't a good night for wifi anyway :(

My favorite SHs are the ones where silent Hill is more of a mysterious, spiritual place and less about cult activity and direct horror themes. SH 2 and downpour really impressed my with the metaphors and down to earth, mundane influence and how they were anthropomorphized for the characters.
Like Hitchcock's 'The Bird', they would be integrating stories even without the horror aspects.

Corpse Party is a RPG maker game. It's pretty anime but the plot is quite good and the game has very few jump-scares which is a bit of a plus with me.

It's pretty sad as well, the voice acting in that game is really good, shame it doesn't have an English dub.

Though Japanese screams are the best, they really put their heart into their voice acting lol.
