Yeah that's true but even Jump art can prevent Shulk from being splashed with a bit of water and falling to his death, poor guy.
I'm very much aware of this too

Greninja has been a weird match up for me not because it's hard at all. Feels solidly even, if anything.

This reminds of something back in friendlies. Buster art's decreased knockback and hitsun is kind of easy to take advantage of for me. The usually tendency of a Greninja after I f-tilt them is that they dash grab me since buster f-tilt is kind of unsafe on hit. This is usually the opportunity for me to retaliate with jab or pivot f-tilt or d-tilt, or the safest option: pivot grab because they might dash to shield. Although, I was wondering why he wasn't running away instead >_>

I only never make an attempt on doing this on Sheik and Fox because lol frame data is too godlike and their range is good enough to reach Shulk in time.

I've handled worse. Like the air bender gorilla or HP FLUDD.

So in my frustration with lag I decided to vent by beating all Smash characters in All-Star

This just happened to be the try where I managed to clear it on Hard without using any healing items

I've been trying to do it for months now and finally it happened

I finished it with about 230% lol

Yeah I have this weird thing that happens when I try to recover horizontally but I'll appear like... one Zelda height ABOVE the ledge?
I think it happens if she doesn't sweet-spot the ledge...

I hate recovering horizontally because of it.

Sometimes when recovering vertically, she may get ejected to the side though depending on the stage.

Honestly, it's safest to recover diagonally. But even then she can get sucked under the ledge the wrong way for no reason some times <_<

Ike has Quick Draw though.

And at least Aether has super-armor so it's harder to stage spike Ike than Shulk.
Even with quick draw, if you FLUDD or Hydro Pump gimp him a decent distance from the ledge about level with the stage or a bit higher, he's gone, lol. A good Shulk can keep Jump and second jump always in mind against Greninja to prevent edge guarding, Ike just has to get lucky with where he's sent flying offstage.

Oh yeah I remember that in Boxing Ring. Think the patch made it so Zelda can't recover completely vertically among a few others. I never try to recover vertically anyway because bowling ball among other things I'm sure but then it gets predictable argh.

The MU feels mostly even to me as well. Though I can see why it might be on Greninja's favor on paper. They feel mostly even matched though I think Greninja has a better advantaged and disadvantaged state than Shulk.

But when it comes to edgeguarding Greninja just wrecks Shulk. Even trying to hit Greninja offstage with F-Air can be risky for Shulk since if Greninja uses Substitute and Shulk triggers it he's pretty much doomed.

GGs @ Rizen Rizen Duck Hunt is a really weird stage
GGs. DH is weird. I don't like it as it's bad for Link but I try to choose every tourney stage if I play long enough.
Thanks a lot for playing even though I was very inconsistent. I'm trying to settle my nerves. A lot of trouble with my family seems to be happening all at once the last half year.

At first, I thought it was Greninja's favor because everything seems to point at that direction but when I played it, it felt even.

About the advantage, I feel like Shulk's advantaged state is better but then again, this may be because I use buster frequently and the combos/strings/set ups from buster usually deal like 40-60% damage.

Disadvantaged state, Greninja is definitely better.

I think it all comes down to how both characters fare against each other at neutral. I think they're about even when it comes that.

I wish there was more footage of this match up. Only one I have in my sleeve is the first (really old) version of Smash 3DS (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hCwtmXb52k4)

I've found a large part of allstar is stage selection luck. On walkoff stages you can Bthrow or roll behind and Fsmash stupid computers for easy wins. Stages with tech-able ceilings let CPUs live forever. Stage hazards are terrible, especially F-Zero racers.

It depends a lot, Shulk can deal loads of damage while in Buster but he can be very easily juggled by Greninja and he's the perfect weight to be combo food for him while also not being able to land very safely thanks to his laggy moves. Vision helps a bit but if baited it can backfire really hard. Greninja is prone to some low % combos thanks to his fall speed but he's not very easy to juggle and he can land safely very often due to Hydro Pump.

Substitute is also a good counter against Shulk thanks to all the lag he has making him unable to shield or dodge Substitute after triggering it with most of his moves so both characters have scary counters against each other.

In neutral though... I guess they could be considered to be even matched, at least as long as Shulk has Speed art up because shurikens allow us to force him to come after us and while he does have a good range to him, it's not too hard to get in on him and we do have fast moves to beat Shulk in close quarters, Speed makes things a lot harder though.

It's certainly an interesting MU though, I feel it's even but I can see why someone would think it's in our favor.

imo, it's really difficult to discuss Shulk match ups when they're possibly even or slightly towards someone's favor. There's a possibility that Shulk won't mess up and will **** you up with a certain art but there's also that chance where he'll flop hard and retreat to another art instead. The advantages he gains from each art make his advantaged state deadly but his added cons make his disadvantaged state easy to exploit. It all comes down to how Shulk handles the opponent at neutral which is why I'm convinced that this match up is even.

Yeah I can see that. It's hard to talk about Shulk in general because he's pretty much six characters combined into one and changes from one into the other all the time.

If I were to judge from my experience with Shulk, I'd say the MU is slightly in Greninja's favor myself because for some reason Anther's Ladder is full of Shulk players and I usually don't struggle much to win against Shulk unless lag is really messing me up.

But as for the MU in a more general viewpoint? -shrug-

You're welcome =V

By the way I never realized Speed nerfed Shulk's jump height until I messed around with hyper monado arts and my first reaction was "Whoa what the hell is wrong with his jump."

Yeah it does. It's not really a disadvantage though. Because of that, the speeding n-airplane was born

Also, the food in my plane is free. Hmmmmm

Thanks to Club Nintendo I've gotten The Wonderful 101 and DK Tropical Freeze for free and I'm now downloading them.

Also got Yoshi Island for the Virtual Console but that was just a little bonus =V
