Who cares if Zelda helps? If we wanted Zelda to help us in matchups, nobody here would still be playing her. If you like her, use her. She's a very rare character to be seen in competitive play; go make yourself known for being the person who wants to work around her flaws and is willing to give it their all to use a "bad" character
But she's not a bad character. I still see Zelda no lower than mid. I think peach wins ever MU that's not a top tier, or DDD.

Was Zelda always a rare character, even in the early days of Melee? I heard she was once considered "good"-ish in Melee.

Have you even seen her real bra size? (Can someone pull up the pic for me I'm on mobile rn)
Plus, it's gotta say something when you don't know how to shoot downward, the deadliest enemies in your first game are damn Cheerios, and your series is named after a creature that doesn't appear until the last 5 seconds of the game.
Don't get me wrong, I consider fully-clothed Samus as one of my secondaries. But the limitations on her firing ability are pretty silly.

So Brinstar and Mute City are here to stay, yes? @ WolfieXVII ❂ WolfieXVII ❂ 4 starters is bad because one player gets one more strike than the other, which would be unfair. I'd move Prism Tower up into starter territory for a solid five starters. (Or we can just FLSS #justsaiyan)
Neither, sorry
I'll edit it in the morning
I'm on mobile so I'm limited

That's why I put bad in quotations, she isn't the best but she's not like she was in Melee or Brawl. You can still do a ton of stuff with her

tbh I don't think you should pick your mains based on what matchups they cover. I main Shulk and Zelda, but they barely cover either of eachother's matchups lol. Just use who you like.

So I should main 14 characters? You said use who I like.

Still find it hilarious that even when :zeldamelee:'s metagame was just THREE MOVES, she's still considered better than a quarter of a cast. THREE MOVES ARE BETTER THAN A QUARTER OF THE CAST. And that having those 3 moves gave her the best tier placement in any official Smash game is really sad.

... Well, I guess :kirbymelee: only had one move, hence he was the worst in the game smh. :^)

@ Rickster Rickster Melee Zelda was good initially because of a lack of tech. Zelda has one of the best rolls and her airdodge covers more distance than her second jump which made her really good back then.

Gorl if tiers mattered to me, I wouldn't have Kirby on my list and already have mained Sheik.
If you had any self-respect you wouldn't use Kirby.

YEAH I WENT THERE

To ice this burn, I'll give you a joke:

Why did the fish have a bad report card?
Because all of his grades were under "C"

I think you can make Zelda work so long as you have a sub that covers her options up. Zelda and Peach play very differently, so I wouldn't say Peach necessarily nullifies Zelda in your list. Get very familiar with around 3 characters or so if you're so indecisive, and try to balance them around each other's weaknesses.

So....what are Melee Zelda's other moves even like? I don't think I've ever seen them used.

I mean...not even her dtilt was good?? And was SDIing all her moves really that effortless?

Realizing that I'm such a Melee noob, lol

Well, I tried For Glory to fight some Mewtwo... Yeah... I fought a Triple D from New Zealand and it was horrible. The input lag was like almost a second of delay which makes it stupid as hell when Triple D responds faster than Falco. Well, 4 straight losses thinking I could deal with the lag and he leaves. At least he didn't taunt or anything.

Next up was a Mewtwo. This dude had no idea what he was doing... The only thing he knew he could do was D-throw? to Side Smash and Disable to Side Smash. He SD'd with Shadow Ball and started off each stock charging Shadow Ball despite me punishing him all the time for it - I'm assuming he thought it would damage people like in Melee and Lucario's Aura Sphere. Fighting (a newbie) Mewtwo as Falco gets to point of Falco's frame data and damage makes it feel like Mewtwo's damage, speed, and range non-issues. Speaking of range, Mewtwo's freaking disjoints, man! The only aerial that I think isn't disjointed is Dair because that uses Mewtwo's foot and not tail or Fair which seems like Shadow Claw. Dtilt's insane on how fast it comes out and low end lag with that range. Jab is weird... Sure, it's powerful, but if I were a Mewtwo, I'd prioritize on Dtilt... Why does this sound like playing as Ganondorf? Oh, and uncharged Shadow Ball can be clanked.

After him were two people who ragequit: a Rosalina from somewhere around in the US and a Sheik from Japan. No Dash Attack spamming from the Rosalina player, but it was a Rosalina and as Falco, it's a pain in the ***. Somehow, I ended up Falco Phantasm spiking him and he Launch Star'd the wrong way - towards the blast zone. As it happened, the game froze for a bit, went to the victory screen, and he left. Yeah... Oh, and I still hate Luma absorbing hits and having incredible knockback. I could have taken a stock while we were both near the ceiling with a Bair, but NOPE! Luma eats that Bair like it was the tastiest pheasant leg it ever had and then proceeds to Uair me. We were both above 100%, but still... Man, it reminds me of when 6wX lost his stock because of Luma eating his Uair and Uairing him back.

After that was a Sheik who had no idea what he was doing... You don't charge Up Smash while I'm above you hoping to land it... No Fair usage... Seriously? Needles were used weirdly, no Nairs, and the only combo tool was to use Uair after a D-throw. So, match ends and he leaves. At least there wasn't any noticeable input lag. Long story short: For Glory is still crappy. Of those matches, not a lot of rolling, but it's still For Glory...

Uair: where's the hitbox
Dair: what
Every multihit move (in version 1.1): don't even try. It's like pre-1.06 fsmash but 10x worse

I don't remember much about her tilts, sry. Only the horrible offenders stick out in my mind :^)

Jab - slow but good range
Ftilt - low kb
Dtilt - good for edgeguarding but outclassed by dsmash
Utilt - good for early percent stuff
Dash attack - Slightly worse than Peach's (ie. super good)
Usmash - easily SDI'd and punished; OoS option
Fsmash - easily SDI'd
Dsmash - Second best dsmash after Peach's imo
Grab - awful
F/B throw - used to throw somebody offstage
Uthrow - Can CG fastfallers and follow up with a kick. Requires good % knowledge
Dthrow: looks cool?
Fair/Bair - good sourspot damage 9%/10% iirc, sweetspot much easier to land and does Smash 4 damage and KB
Dair - https://youtu.be/t9e-LXAT0YQ?t=11m9s
Nair - pretty shaky move
Uair - large hitbox, lower knockback

Fsmash/Usmash is better in 1.01 since you can't SDI out.

Oh yeah, doesn't her dair lack a sweetspot too? Like who thought that was a good idea?

I find Melee Zelda to be really...interesting. Few players, and relies on 3 moves...but somehow isn't bottom tier (isn't she like...low or something? Melee's tier format confuses me a bit).
