I think Lucina is good, and I even risk not having Roy for it, Ike and Marth will stay, Chrom can't handle his move-set. I'm betting 4 characters for FE, though.

Is it "Ike's my favorite character so I say that he'll be in. The opinion of the rest be damned."? If so, that's wrong. you gotta remain neutral and go along to the facts. I mean, my favorite is Roy, no doubt. But I'm also alert of the fact that he may not make it, and other character such as Chrom or Lucina may make it instead.

It's not like that, see Sakurai might or might not have a pattern, till now we are getting Marth+Newest Lord in the series at the time of development, so if that pattern proves right than we can say good bye to Ike too, would I be upset ? Of course I would, so including Roy back will mean they will mean Ike must be considered first, because he was in Brawl, it wouldn't be fair to Ike fan if you scrap their favorite character on favor a character that was scrapped for Brawl, anyways I don't want to enforce this, it's my own opinion take it or leave it, and I'm sorry if I sounded a bit harsh on you...

You see Opossum, I will give you an example:

when I say "1....2...." there 2 possible continuations, it's either a patterned continuation "1...2...3...4...5...etc" or a patternless "1...2...6....1...5"continuation which easily makes it 50/50 chance of existing.

Not only that, but said "pattern" is skewed when the two characters in question were completely different situations from each other.
It'd be easier making an argument that Star Fox will get another semi-clone character towards the end of character development because of Falco and Wolf being in practically the same situation (only difference was Falco was added as a direct clone and turned into a semi-clone later while Wolf was semi-cloned from the start.)

It was during Sakurai's pre-Brawl journal in which a Japanese Smash Bros. fan asked Sakurai about including more Japan-only characters. Sakurai cited his own personal anecdote experience about the black man thanking Sakurai for including Roy in Melee as an example to show that Japan-only characters have the potential to be very well-received outside Japan.

I'll take this bait. Shin Megami Tensei has grown into me these past two years. Even if I love the Persona series, I seriously don't want to see it in this crossover now -Atlus has milked the hell out of Persona 4-. What intrigues me the most of this crossover is the plot. The SMT games are known for having a post-apocalyptic world, where it's you who forges a new path for mankind, depending on your decisions. Oh, and demons, lots of demons. Fire Emblem has it's own dark themes of it's own, but SMT can be seen as more controversial due to the fact that it's a clash of your own beliefs, and you're given the choice to side either with God, Lucifer, or neither.

I'd love to see some info of the game in the E3, most of all the Plot, but I'm not keeping my hopes up.
