But can they pull off a tag-out/support system akin to MvC gameplay?
okay well maybe anyone can but it wouldn't make much sense for Ice Climbers.
So let me get this straight.

The concept you're trying to propose is basically you play as either Chrom or Lucina, each having their own properties to toy with naturally. You can (hypothetically) use the down special to swap between the two, but unlike something like Zelda/Sheik, it's not a transformation but rather the characters swap positions at will and inflict damage while doing so. So it can act like a form of offense and defense, and being able to continue attacks by swapping would be a key advantage at higher level play.

Is this right?

A Chrom/Lucina tag team/pair is one of the worst ideas I've ever heard, no offense. Why would you have THEM play as a tag team? They'd obviously be clones of one another, just like in the actual game. I'm against the idea of FE pairs in Sm4sh in general, but at least there would be some sense in a Chrom/Robin team.
Because of the pair up feature in FE:A. Look I don't want a awakening character, I'd rather have lyn. But i'm trying to be fair, and the pair up feature is the most unique thing I can think of. Any different sword styles for chrom wouldn't feel right to his character, so this is the best way to go if you want some uniqueness, because standalone chrom isn't really unique to begin with. And the second seal idea is even more terrible than the pair up feature, and imo a lance just won't cut it for me.

So its either they pair up, or they are not included.

This is why I think the tactician is the most likely Awakening choice. But i'd much rather they go back to roy or choose lyndis.

Well, I totally agree that the Tactician is the most likely choice and I've said that many times. Much more convenient for several reasons.

I know that the pair up feature is big in Awakening, all I'm saying is that the idea of having two immensely similar characters fight as a MvC-style tag team is very questionable, because, what good would it serve?

I don't really know, unless they each had different properties, i'm sure sakurai would think of something.

Its just chrom is so bland on his own, if they were to go for recency, this would be the style they would go for if they want "uniqueness". I don't see anything else that could make them more unique than the mvc tag team style. Just saying.

I agree that it's the most unique thing they could do out of them, which speaks volumes as to how little those two would bring to the Smash table.

I'm not going to complain about that.

I mean, it would be the best case scenario to make usage out of both of those characters.

Does anyone check out the FE:A community in Miiverse?
I love the community there now that people can share opinions about the game. The comments are pretty hilarious.

Here's a fun thought -
Anna / Lyn with a Levin Sword.
Less boringness, still swordiness!
Whatty'a think?

I like Lyn preferably with her mani katti+bow, sole mani katti or dual blade mani katti+sol katti, with sol katti being the sweetspot.

Anna would work with a levin sword tho.

Yes I do Lunatic+ actually.
What's so bad about about FE: A?
Oh you know..... the pair up feature makes things broken, the plot line with chrom..... emmeryn.... lol. "waifu simulator 2013", freaking second seals break the game even more..... etc. things like that.

But again its my opinion, don't let it get you down olimar. Just saying though, if you like FE and want a real challenge you should try 3-5. (especially tharcia)

I C U shin.

Oh. Umm... ok.
You're trying to be nice here, so I won't get... y'know. angry. opinions are opinions, and facts are facts. Chrom is awesome tho stfu.
Pair up made it so that at least you could get supports decently quick. i remember in FE just making serra and matt sit there next to each and spamming the end turn button XD

FE9+12 had the best system for supports. In those games, you just had to use two units in the same battle a certain number of times to get each support.

Pair up is broken as all hell. "Strategy" in FE13 basically consist of getting a powerful Dark Mage/Sorceror, giving them some Nosferatu tomes, then pairing them up with a unit they're S supported with and tossing them at a group of enemies.

I thought it was just Fred + Donny but that works too.
Well the FE1 support system was still annoying.

My first run through of FE:A was pretty challenging. I didn't do any skirmishes or extra risen battles or even use a dark mage so that might be why.

Honestly, if you treat the game like any other fire emblem game without a world map, it becomes a lot more engaging.

Considering it was my first FE game, it was a little tough for me too.
I didn't even know how to master seal XD

When I played Awakening for he first time, I never even used the pair up system, since I was so used to the rescue system in the Tellius games (which also I barely used).

I did the same until I beat the game. The only thing I did in the world map, besides progression is buy items when needed.

I have yet to try the classic playstyle on Awakening, I mean classic as in no pair-up mode at all. I try to avoid it but I end up using it :(. I'll try no reclassing or multiple promotions either.

I kinda hope there is an option for casual mode from now on.

Classic is fun and challenging! But sometimes I just wanna lay down and enjoy the story, music and characters.

Casual mode can take the stress away.

I believe casual mode was one of the factors that helped save Fire Emblem. I'm all for it staying I just hope it doesn't replace classic mode, but if it does I'll play it like classic anyway.

Classic mode won't ever go away, if there's no perma-death in FE

Then it isn't FE. FE must have perma-death.

I'll also never play casual mode, but that's just me.

The only thing I don't like about Permadeath is that it prevents your regular units from lots of story development, outside there introduced chapter., of course there are a few unaffected like the lords, and characters like Soren, Lucina, and etc. At least, it makes the game more challenging, especially when your doing a nuzlocke-esque run in the game. Where if you lose a unit, you don't restart and just continue the chapter.

Meh I still like it, its what makes FE, FE.

You can always reset ya know :p there's no shame in that, I usually do nuzlocke-esque runs so I guess thats why i like it so much. To each their own.

I would say Lyn is a great choice because of the many reasons stated many times before, and also it will allow newer fans of the series to get more of a taste for the older installments, as thousands of people joined started with Awakening and nothing else, Lyn would be a great choice to show off what else the series has to offer, that isn't Marth and to a lesser extent Ike. Smash Bros has been known to add obscure but rather popular characters, and Lyn, I feel fits it well, (plus, I feel we need more obscure characters, that would bring a surprise, rather than the recent, but generally expected.) I also feel she would break the tide of recent/semi recent character reveals. Even though, I liked the characters revealed so far, I expected them all besides Villager and WFT. (I also don't want people to think that only the recent characters get in, sure it can help, but it's not a big factor.)

That's why I said "only" ;) . Besides the slight story aspect lost, it makes up for a great game-play element.

The Weapon Triangle is for weaklings.
Real men use whatever weapons they want and punch the Weapon Triangle in the nuts.
You must've meant: Real men are lucky to avoid 2 hits which otherwise would've killed them? :smirk:
