It actually would be interesting if a FE game let you command armies on different sides of the same conflict. FE has been pretty good about having villains that aren't entirely "Why, I'm doing this because I'm eeeeeeevillllll!" so it wouldn't be a huge step to make all the different armies be fighting for what they deem to be a good cause.

It's not just Fire Emblem really, pretty much for any series that gets a new game with a new cast of characters. It happened for Pokemon and even Pikmin now.

It's most likely the Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem crossover.

But even if it was a new Fire Emblem, it's too late at this point for any "recentness" to influence a character.
We didn't get Micaiah or RD Ike despite Radiant Dawn coming out before Brawl; we got PoR Ike.

Exciting news!

Given the context of how long it usually takes for FE games to get released (once every ~2 years), I'm expecting a FE14 announcement perhaps by the end of this year, possibly being released before SSB4. This does not guarantee much content in SSB4, however, as Radiant Dawn has little content in Brawl.

Here's hoping that we'll get an official announcement as to whatever the heck this is sooner than I predicted. I'm still going to wait on this, but really, a new FE game does excite me.

The beauty of Fire Emblem is that you have to decide who should marry whom.

Don't know about Ike though. I'm not even half-way through Path of Radiance.

There are a few options for Ike, even though it's isn't technically Marriage, it is support. There is Lethe, Elincia, Titania, Oscar, Reyson, Ranulf, and of course Soren. Personally I hate people thinking Ike is gay, when he can support with Lethe, Titania, and Elincia.

Well there would be nothing wrong with Ike being gay, I think the problem is that there is no evidence to support that, and his other support conversations suggest otherwise. The fact he leaves to explore the world with Soren has to do more with him following the Ogma mercenary archetype and vanishing after the game. His inability to marry also comes from this archetype.

Played the heck out of FE11's online and with FE13's deep gameplay (which goes beyond just forged Brave weapons) there's potential. It's not required, but it would be nice to have instead having to pay for DLC chapters or waiting to play a CPU controlled Streetpass team in order to extend the re-playability.​

It's the worst of the series if I were to give my honest opinion (I'll save FE1/11 talk for another time). I guess if I had to list my complaints out with the story it's this:

Chrom never saw any real character development. Only the first few chapters were focused on him/had a conflict for him, but there was never any real thing that came out of those chapters for him other than "I'm sad that my Older Sister died." The rest of the game was about Robin's struggles. There was some potential in Chrom vs. Walhart in their conflicting ideals (Marth vs. Alm) but it was too short lived to go anywhere.

WTF happened with Marth? Even if the whole world didn't play FE3/12, why all of a sudden create an entirely new villain while directly referencing past games/characters? I get that a new villain is to help new players, while past references is to attract older players, but the way they were handled conflicted with one another. They left us with an uninteresting villain with a confusing bare bones back-story that leaves veterans isolated and wondering if they missed a game.

Robin was more of a character and less than a "My Unit." While there was a few more options for customization, in comparison to Chris from FE12, you overall had less control over them. Chris had several opportunities throughout FE12 to allow players to change up the story or dialogue, you could also select your own backstory and character class, all while having your own struggles instead of stealing focus off Marth. It's tough to explain but Chris was handled very differently than Robin, and I would suggest playing the English patched FE12 for comparison.

Other than that the Time Travel stuff probably could have been handled better/been more well rounded. Spotpass characters could have gotten better treatment. Robin did also technically steal focus from Lucina as well. The Outrealm could have probably gotten a better explanation storywise too.

Not sure what you mean, the only confirmed pairings I know from those games are: SigurdxDiadora, CuanxEthlin, and LeifxNanna.

AbelxEst never came up until FE3. There may have been some hints beforehand, but it's tough to tell as FE as a series never got big until FE3 and it was also the game that expanded on Marth's series the most. FE1 & 2 in-game though, not to my knowledge.
