Considering they tried to get the whole thing shut down as recent as last year, that's actually a point of concern for me.

I have a creeping feeling that the announcement they have planned is going to be one big, fat Take That.

Happened a lotback in the pre-Brawl days. Everywhere. Here. Nsider. IGN. Gamefaqs. Other forums. It just doesn't phase me this time around.

Not during the Pre-Melee days in my experience, but I don't doubt there were people that behaved this way too.

Well, in the early days it wasn't much of an issue. But as a series grows so does it's fanbase. And one of the side effects that good crossover games tend to create is that they bring on themselves a horrible fandom at times.

I have to admit that I thought the Gear was weird. Yes, it makes sense, but is that really Mega Man's "logo". I guess it is for Smash, but it'd just make so much more sense to use the helmet or en E-Tank. Even Beat makes more sense.

Nintendo's lawyers are known for being a group of voracious sharks. I know that it's easy for most people to see it as an antagonistic action from the whole company but there are actually people supportive of those tournaments like Reggie.

Overanalysis.
I cannot stress this enough. Smash may be a community known for over analysing, but this is the first time that I've really seen it first hand myself and it is a joke.

Ridley is the PRIME (huehue) example here, with something like Gematsu taking a close second. Honestly, it's interesting to see just what people can pull out from where the sun don't shine to support their opinions.

And geez, don't ever question the sacred Gematsu.

People ignoring logic and reason and loudly demanding that their favourite characters be included, no matter their realistic chances. Good examples of this are Toad and Bowser Jr.

I know that you like the characters. I get that. But, loudly proclaiming how well they'd fit the game... when they have very little to work with or would work towards saturating a roster...

The roster-Mega Man is the only star (Ive seen a lot of hate for Pac man so I don't see him as a star, while people were screaming for Mega Man). The roster lacks positively controversial newcomers (Ridley is more positively controversial than Rosalina by a landslide, Ive seen a lot of hate towards space Peach). Also, WHERES MEWTWO? Isn't he the most popular request worldwide? I mean even my cousins who dont follow smash too much want Mewtwo to return.

Lack of competitive mechanics'suffers the same problems Brawl had (Ledge mechanics being the only competitive mechanic, its stilñ floaty and moves are too laggy. Needs L-Cancels or less lag on aerials, and if they add L Cancels, it needs a down side so all of these bad players can stop saying oh l-cAncelling takes no skill. Also, I HAVE PLAYED A LOT AT THE DEMO).

Personally, I'm most disappointed by the lack of a story-based mode. Sure, Subspace Emissary wasn't exactly Shakespeare, but it was unbelievably fun to watch the characters interact and get introduced. Not only that, but it helped make unlocking characters less of a grind, which I wasn't huge on with Melee and for 4 I hope I don't have to play a thousand matches just to unlock everyone. Plus it gave you a chance to try out all the characters, branch out of your comfort zone and try out characters you normally wouldn't.

Not only that, but the reason (that I heard, at least) for its removal was just silly. Sure, people upload the cutscenes onto the internet, that happens with every game.

Before I forget, I also have to bring up;

How ambiguous Ridley was intentionally left. I may be indifferent to his inclusion, but in defense of his many, many fans, that was kind of mean of Sakurai. As we've seen over and over again, this went beyond playful trolling - it was just plain mean.

If he's just plain settled the issue then and there, we wouldn't have had quite as much harassment from both sides. But he just HAD to leave it ambiguous.

Except it doesn't have to be ambiguous. It's only ambiguous to you because that's how you feel about Ridley. For example, I don't think it's ambiguous at all, I've never though he was hinted at being playable, not once, and the direct nor anything else has led me to believe it was a strong possibility.

You're essentially seeing things that are not there (in this case, the "ambiguity" you speak of).

Worst part is that Toon Link is still a clone.. Which makes me scared that Ganon and Falco/Wolf, if they are in, will also be clones. (Speaking of which, anyone else find it odd that Falco doesn't have an Arwing in his final smash? I mean.. considering the corneria stage, yoshi's final smash... it's definitely doable)

The worst thing about smash 4 is how the community is already making claims what's going to be good. Our understanding of the game is so small, who's to say Little Mac or even ****ing Zelda wont be god tier in a strongly ground focus meta or be irrelevant in a meta where aerials continue to be a main focus?

Seeing how some players have already made a tier list really 'grinds my gears' because we don't even know what we don't know.

If I bought you the best ****ing poutine of your life and it came in a paper carton, the paper carton would be the worst part.

This thread is asking people to pick on the aspect of Smash 4 that they think is worst, not offset it with sunshine and rainbows. By the very nature all that is left over is a negative remark on the game, but that doesn't mean that person hates Smash 4.

The game honestly feels more to me like a series reboot than a sequel.

-Announcement of no Story Mode of any sort. Especially so, considering they now have Mario, Sonic, Mega Man, and Pac-Man in the game. Still hoping we get a mode on the Wii U version that plays like SSE, though, with levels taken from all of the represented franchises.

-Rosalina's announcement has been a double-edged sword. On one hand, my favourite Nintendo character is playable in my favourite Nintendo franchise. On the other hand, she's been one of the most controversial characters simply due to the seniority mind set people have, that means other Mario characters should have gotten in because they came to the Mario franchise first. It's also helped push her into the spotlight, which is great on one hand, but on the other, it also means her fan base is more out in the open and viable to be harassed, since Rosalina fans traditionally were left alone due to never talking much about the character.

-3DS version is coming out AFTER I start college, meaning I may not get to play it as much as I'd like. I'd also like to buy it sooner rather than later, because knowing my luck, some other expenses will pop up a week before I buy it or something.

I've gotten over my Rosalina sourness a long time ago. I have no more hate towards her or her fans. In fact, I've seen what you've posted and I respect you very much. I suppose if any Mario newcomer were added to the game, a lot of people would've been sour at that character and their fans.

I agree, I don't even hate the gameplay mechanics or characters that much, just the Metroid Other M references, that's it, I only hate the references to a ****ty game many people wish didn't exist.
