Yeah hip-hop derives its roots from a lot of other genres. I like songs that kind of mix the genres, like Pete Rock beats and whatnot.

Of course music is in the ear of the beholder, but to me aes rock has put out some of the most fanstic music in the universe, music that can take you to a different dimension, not alot of music has that power.

aesop rock is meh. i keep givin him shots but his flow really bugs me. same with mf doom. well, with doom, it always sounds like the instrumental is louder than his voice. sometimes, it sounds like straight mumbling.

probably just seems like that cause your ears are used to emcee's flowing over the beat in a certain way.

Doom and Aesop Rock have two of the smoothest flows out of anyone in the game,
If you listened to their music one day you would understand lol.

I hear a lot of people say that about Doom, how he has a weird flow thats all over the place, but really its quite magical,

It's just a matter of listening with your mind rather than just your ears.


its like how people think art tatum plays too many notes , when actually he was a god, and you just have to pay attention to understand its beauty.

seven travels is when I stopped listening to atmosphere for years cause he was becoming too mainstream.

I can plainly see you guys don't grasp what Aesop Rock is really about.

He's an abstract artist. The dude focuses on philosophical and black-and-white line concepts. We're not supposed to interpret his songs the same way, and how many of you could sit down and write a flow so diverse, so unique and random, yet so strangely beautiful at the same time?

Listen to Yes And The Ya'll. That's hardly criteria for going off-flow and not keeping in sync. I'm not asking you to meatride Aesop Rock, but at least understand what he stands for before passing on the haterade.

His lyrics are so good, listen with your mind and heart, and don't necessarily focus on the strict rhythm and nothing else.

I thank Jugfingers for introducing me to Aesop Rock.

This attitude pisses me off.
Like this superiority "oh you guys just dont get IT" **** is bull**** when were talking about an artist that PURPOSELY writes the most random **** he possibly can. I wouldn't be surprised if his entire career was an elaborate joke to see which pseudo-intellectuals try to give absurb meanings to his ramblings.

Real talk. Aesop is trash most of time. He's capable of being good but that bull**** i just wrote makes as much sense as 95% of aesop rocks music.

Trust me.. I get Aesop. I used to be a fan then I realized that he makes no sense. Been following him since before he was on Def Jux, when he was working with Dub-L.


Trust me. If you just got into aesop.. I'll give you 6 months and I can almost guarentee you'll come to your senses about how wack he is.
