I feel if I were to main luigi my spacing would get really good but I would get worse overall.

Idk why.
I was wondering if you would expand on that idea/general thoughts. I'm curious to see if you can explain that more.

how do i approach link with luigi?!! I CANT DO IT!!
It's difficult. And it sort of sucks that whenever I use luigi the other person almost always uses link >_>.

I only meant (probably) that my spacing would get good, buy my tech skill would go down.

Getting used to spacing with a slow character hurts my general play with other characters overall.

And I know sh dair ff uair is tech skill but I dont even do it that often to begin with.

What semp said.

Link is a ffer and does seem to have a normal moveset.

Luigi and samus sometimes feel like I am just moving in slow motion. More so with luigi. Samus' teleport helps entertain my speed craving.

Samus is a lot more spacing, luigi is more mindgames IMO

Yeah Luigi and Samus do feel a lot different because of their high jumps and slow falling speed.

I like to do sh ff aerials with Samus to approach. With Luigi I just spam uair and hope they walk into one lol.

shield-dashing makes luigi move faster. Use the ground to move instead of doing many aerials, and of course bait the other

Am i the only person who isn't specifically looking to improve?

sure, there's a couple of things, but i'm happy where i'm at, and i'll probably improve by just playing more.

I wasn't really looking to become the best at this game, just able to keep up with most players except some especially good ones like A-S Teir Players and A bit of B teir.

Tier, it's Tier not Teir *-)

And, well, I think I speak for almost everyone here when I say that we play not only for Fun, but for Improvement too.

I do play for improvement, but it's not improvement in the sense that I try to win every time. I don't get any sense of accomplishment or satisfaction from throw to gimp every stock. I generally play Falcon, and even then, I've strayed off the beaten path of Uairs to Up+B, in the hopes of working out different, more creative, and harder to perform combos.

It's not going well, but it's always nice when I pull off a little something that isn't Uairx10.

I hope that if I continue to focus more on creativity and tech skill in terms of comboing, it'll not only make me a better player overall, but I'll feel more... complete as a player.

Probably why I've only played Kirby maybe once or twice competitively, and that was against my spamming Kirby noob of a friend to prove that I can spam better than him...

That's the way to make the persuit of improvement really fun.
Why just try to improve/win or have fun, when you can do everything at a time. xD

I kinda agree, its totally pointless to try to become the best if you know it will be sooo difficult, just try to have fun, this isnt a job but a game, ambition is overrated

I play for fun and improvment.

Playing the game JUST for fun and no improvement seems silly IMO. Even at the most basic level of smash, I still tried to figured which b moves were better for which situations and also when and how to time item use. I wanted to improve and beat my opponent.

With any character? Or are you asking somebody if they can do it?
Pretty sure he is talking about Luigi.
And yes you can. (Think Dair has to be from above/side-ish though as that's where most of hitboxes are)

Correct me if you weren't talking about Luigi Koro =)

I actually don't even care if I get better anymore. I gave up on becoming #1 of the world a while ago, I just don't have the talent :p
If I improve, I improve. It's fun to actually see improvement, but if I don't, I can still play smash.

But yeah, some will reach their limits, and after that, imho, there's nothing you can do. You might improve by 0.0001% a month, but you won't notice it. There will always others improving more/faster/better than you.
But hey.. That's life. 'Not improving' doesn't mean 'not enjoying' ^^

fun = enjoyment + improvement

if I stay at one level for too long I get frustrated.

even if its slowly, improvement is a huge factor in my enjoyment.

You're so much late actually, lol.

inb4 "no one in europe plays competitively"
no one said we did not play competitively, it is just that we enjoy playing in that manner for the most part, and you always claim you cannot have fun from such play.

That's ironically one of the principles for improving. xD

competitive and serious play = gay tactics, broken moves all the way, spam, abusing good moves, pick top tiers, counterpicks, stage counterpicks... So in conclusion, playing serious/competitive isnt the most fun way to play.

And as far as I know, nobody would counterpick/spam broken moves or whatever. I don't think there is one kirby main at all actually. A few pika players, but most of europe play fox lol. And most of us just change their character between each match.

Lack of good DKs though.

Also I agree with Fays and the horizontal asymptote of improvement. (I wouldn't complain either about not improving if I had his level btw).

Not really. Maybe in theory, optimal play encompasses all the characteristics you mentioned, but in reality people still play competitively without the use of "gay tactics." Top tiers and counterpicks are very prevalent, but stuff like spam is less so unless a match becomes really intense.

Basically what I'm saying is that it's not black and white, so an "=" sign is quite inaccurate.

So this example you give is for people who dont really play at the maximum %, because otherwise they would play the most intense posslbe, using all the tricks they have in the bag if needed.
Also I forgot camping in the list.

To give a melee example, mango (jiggs) vs hbox (jiggs) ---> Yawn.
