Why is Jungle Japes banned?

It's most likely due to the water in the level, it pulls you to your death very quickly, and if you get shoved off a platform and don't jump out of the water quickly well then...you're gonna loose a stock.

We're not suppose to have fun in Melee. It's for manly men of the manliest kind.

I can just help but say, if its banned in both, then why should it be banned in Brawl? So what if it can kill you? Its your own fault if you get caught in the water, and you can still get back in the game if your fast enough, I've done it on both Melee and Brawl plenty of times.

And I forgot to add, in Brawl you can swim now (for once) :p, so that's just another reason I think it shouldn't be banned, since in Melee you never really had the privilege to swim.

No, it's a CP, which is the opposite of a totally fair stage.

Basically, I think you guys contracted the definition of a CP to a ridiculous extreme.

IMO it's not, but yea, Japes isn't the best example.

Speaking of which, I've got a feeling my Marth will love that stage when I get PSing down.

We'll gentleman's rule it whenever I play you, s'alright?

Speaking of which, I seriously need to start playing the city melee scene, I need to get some help getting out of my habit of being too predictable, and the Island Melee scene is much more impractical to play, plus City's just better.

I used to hate the Pound 4 ruleset cuz of no pokefloats/japes etc. but after like 3 tournaments without them I realized just how ridiculously janky they were compared to normal stages or even the current CP stages.

It's not banned in brawl because of the Klap Trap. It's banned because you can easily just camp the whole match with the opponent being able to do very little. All I'd have to do to win on Japes is get a lead, camp the smaller platform and run out the timer. My opponent has to approach from the air meaning they can't shield and I can easily do an OOS move for whatever they do. No projectile except for Falco's lasers and Pit's arrows move far enough you reliably use against me. Fox's lasers can work as well because they're fast and can rack up damage. MK has a chance because he's MK and can do some really safe stuff. So basically unless you're Falco, Pit, Fox or MK (maybe) you can't win once you're trailing.

That is why Japes is banned in Brawl.

Japes is banned in Brawl?

*looks at the SBR ruleset*

*raises eyebrows*

I don't see the BBR banning it anytime soon either as very likely.

MLG banned it, and IMO the reason is because it's a campy stage, but it isn't overcentralizing, and while it may be particularly good for the person on defense, it isn't auto-win.

it's maily banned becasue of falcos side B, when u hit some one in the air with it they get shot down, so its easy to do that in Japes becasue of the short distant platforms of the same level, so its an easy win for falco.

but yeah japes is kickass
yeah you're 100% right. Falco's side B is soooooooo broken there!

If the speed weren't so high, I'd say it's a balanced stage. I think the Back Room must've all agreed this stage was pretty irritating. It's more about the fact that you've essentially worried more about the stage hazard than you are about your opponent(s).

Thankfully, I don't play fast fallers on this stage.
