People need to suck it up that the new Sonic games are crap and pay attention to Sega's other games. Seriously, they've put out a ton of great games but everyone *****es about Sonic and claims that Sega as a whole sucks because of it. Because Sonic is Sega's only franchise, right? Right? I guess that Sonic's marred reputation would make a return to console for Sega difficult. But people need to stop wining and see that Sega returning to the console market would be good for gamers, especially those of us who want to see the end of this gray generation.
You may believe that this is little more than a clingy fanboy romanticizing a company's glory days, yeah, it's partially that but at the same time it's what I believe would be the best cure for this gray, FPS-dominated "mature" rut that games are currently stuck in. I for one, am sick running down darkened gray corridors only to enter a brown courtyard so that way I can shoot either aliens or terrorists. I thank god for games like Uncharted or Ratchet and Clank in which I can go on bright and generally upbeat adventures rather than having to witness the end of the world every game. I am fully aware that not every game this generation is like this (such as the two I previously mentioned), but I'm just sick of everything being a samey downbeat FPS. Yes, dark and serious has its place (Bioshock and Batman Arkham Asylum are easily two of my favorite games) but when it's infecting everything and it's everywhere it just drags everything down. Seriously guys, lighten up a bit!
And this is where Sega comes in, I believe that their "let's be different" mentality is what is needed to break this dull, gray mold. For those of you who have no idea what I'm talking about, take a look at some of the games they've made. From the bright and optimistic Skies of Arcadia to the funky and colorful Jet Set Radio, Sega just has this unique style that deserves more attention and respect than it gets. This generation has been dull, gray and repetitious. The long-forgotten and under-respected Sega could be exactly what we need to remedy this problem.
So to Sega, the only people in the world who could have ever made me care about a flying jester or a bunch of cabbies. I don't care if it's called the Dreamcast 2 or what, I just think it's time you came back and brought us out of this downer generation with your "let's be different" mentality and style.
EDIT: Do I think they will? No. Do I want to them to? Yes.
