People need to suck it up that the new Sonic games are crap and pay attention to Sega's other games. Seriously, they've put out a ton of great games but everyone *****es about Sonic and claims that Sega as a whole sucks because of it. Because Sonic is Sega's only franchise, right? Right? I guess that Sonic's marred reputation would make a return to console for Sega difficult. But people need to stop wining and see that Sega returning to the console market would be good for gamers, especially those of us who want to see the end of this gray generation.

You may believe that this is little more than a clingy fanboy romanticizing a company's glory days, yeah, it's partially that but at the same time it's what I believe would be the best cure for this gray, FPS-dominated "mature" rut that games are currently stuck in. I for one, am sick running down darkened gray corridors only to enter a brown courtyard so that way I can shoot either aliens or terrorists. I thank god for games like Uncharted or Ratchet and Clank in which I can go on bright and generally upbeat adventures rather than having to witness the end of the world every game. I am fully aware that not every game this generation is like this (such as the two I previously mentioned), but I'm just sick of everything being a samey downbeat FPS. Yes, dark and serious has its place (Bioshock and Batman Arkham Asylum are easily two of my favorite games) but when it's infecting everything and it's everywhere it just drags everything down. Seriously guys, lighten up a bit!

And this is where Sega comes in, I believe that their "let's be different" mentality is what is needed to break this dull, gray mold. For those of you who have no idea what I'm talking about, take a look at some of the games they've made. From the bright and optimistic Skies of Arcadia to the funky and colorful Jet Set Radio, Sega just has this unique style that deserves more attention and respect than it gets. This generation has been dull, gray and repetitious. The long-forgotten and under-respected Sega could be exactly what we need to remedy this problem.

So to Sega, the only people in the world who could have ever made me care about a flying jester or a bunch of cabbies. I don't care if it's called the Dreamcast 2 or what, I just think it's time you came back and brought us out of this downer generation with your "let's be different" mentality and style.

EDIT: Do I think they will? No. Do I want to them to? Yes.

Sega doesn't know how to do much right anymore, apparent from how they don't seem to even try smartly timing releases and **** nowadays, if they made a console it would probably flop due to a massive lack of quality.

I'm still waiting for Nintendo to collapse on itself or some ****, maybe that will arse them to make a bloody kirby game for the wii.

It would truly be awful if consumers had to purchase four different consoles. I think the death of the Dreamcast proved that the VG market can't support four home consoles at the same time.

Besides, what has Sega done right lately? Both Sega games mentioned in the OP are from the past. If Sega can't even handle a port, why should we believe that it can save the game industry with a new console? Hell, they're not bogged down with the logistics of managing a home console and still can't produce a decent Sonic game.

But not good enough/consistent enough to warrant a new console through bro. They don't need a new console to make the market more fun, they need more quality **** on the consoles that actually friggin exist.

I think I more or less take back the op.

I think the newest game by Sega I can remember playing was Yakuza 3. I personally really enjoyed it but whatever. I personally think that some pretty good stuff does come out of Sega, it's just that it's buried below piles of mediocre garbage.

Yakuza 3 is just more evidence that even if they make/publish a good game they don't even ****ing try to get it to sell, it's ********. Sega eventually dying would not surprise me in the least.

^I'd have to say that one of the biggest problems is that they've had poor communication with Sega of America for like, freaking ever. If you poke around the net, I'll see that Sega has made a number of cool games that for some reason never leave Japanese arcades. And in one of the rare moments in which one of these games does leave the east, Sega of America doesn't promote it. Like, at all. But when there's a fairly big-name title that they're publishing, SoA will be all over it.

Never in my life have I seen poor management ruin a company so badly.

^Sonic 4 or Colors? Because my reaction can more or less be summed up like this:

Sonic 4: Can't wait!

Sonic Colors: lol, Sega, lol.

As long as sonic is not on his own system, Nintendo, Xbox nor Playstation 3 will make sonic important. Think about it, Mario owns nintendo, Master Chief owns Xbox and Solid Snake owns Playstation. They may make sonic good but not great enough to overshadow the THREE CHARACTERS that I have named

Halo isn't owned by Microsoft anymore

And Metal Gear was never Sony property.

Not to mention Master Chief isn't that popular compared Sonic. And when people think of Solid Snake, I doubt Sony is the first thing in their minds.

A more accurate version of this post.

I believe that the only way people would be more interested in Sonic than those guys is if Sega released a game that had the same impact as Super Mario Galaxy did. Or in Sonic terms, got everyone as pumped as they were for Sonic Adventure when it was first announced.

EDIT On a little side-note it turns out that Sega is actually localizing Yakuza 4. Let's see if there's some honest to God promotion of the **** thing this time.

Master chief is a garbage, non-dynamic, speechless, faceless, flat, lame character, and in no way could even be considered a mascot. He's just so lacking.

Plus, both Crash and Spyro were closer to owning playstation than Snake ever was : /

You are now exalted with finalark.

Seriously, though. I'd have to say that if Sega (all branches baring AM2, but mostly Sega of America and Sonic Team) got their act together and started pumping out some quality titles on a regular basis (and you know, promoted them) then I'd say that they'd be 100% ready to return if the time was right. Plus they have a number of studios under them due to their status as a publisher, some of which could produce some high-quality titles for a theoretical new Sega console.

Um, what Jam said.

Why doesn't anyone even try to get learned before they spout stuff like this, it's the internet, google isn't hiding from you.

Also, Finalark, also, what Jam said in the first post, seriously dude, it would not work in any realistic scenario. Sega is not making a comeback anytime soon.

I think that it is possible, it's just that all of the required variables are too numerous and too unlikely for such a thing to happen.

It's POSSIBLE, but it's unrealistic because having to choose between/buy four different consoles would really screw people up.

Along with the fact that's it's unrealistic to believe Sega can even pretend to be competent at this point.

You know I'd be less of a **** right now if this wasn't like your third time doing this blog.

You ppl are very repetitive w/ Sonic.

You haven't even seen the GAMEPLAY of SC...
It's so cute how you complain about us being repetitive about Sonic when Sega repeatedly SCREWS IT UP, ROYALLY.

That's like saying "You think that it's going to be wet after it rains tomorrow? You people are so repetitive with the weather.

It hasn't even STARTED yet..."

...

I WANNA HUG IT AND LOVE IT FOREVER TIL IT GETS OLD AND I GET BORED OF IT LIKE A PEDOPHILE.

Edit-June, why on Earth are you silly enough to believe that with a new console they would suddenly stop being ******** as ****? That's just so what is this I don't even.

Yeah, um, no.

I'll stick with Nintendo for the moment and possibly branch out to Sony eventually.

I'd also like to point out that they've been guilty of producing some of those "dark and drabby games" you hate seeing all the time.
