Inspired by hungrybox's broken threads
and this can be made because although its about specific players, its in a positive light similar to the "best players thread" (I think right?)

and [SERIOUS TOPIC]

with that said...

WHO'S more broken?

1. Mango in melee or isai in 64?
Consensus : ISAI. I obviously dont know the 64 metagame well lol

QUESTION #2 : Who's edgeguard game is more broken?

A)ARMADA'S

or

B)M2K'S?

isai's a lot better than his competition in 64, but playing him makes a lot more sense than playing mango. doesn't take long to understand what makes him so good

in melee there're people closer to mango's level, but he does **** that doesn't make sense and it just works LOL

JV 4 stocking the second best player's main with one of the worst characters in the game, in a horrible matchup, and not getting hit once for the Boomfan's last 3 stocks/the entire last minute of gameplay. Probably way better than the typical result, but still.

Yeah that one video "Don't get hit" pretty much says it all.

Isai ***** in 64 pretty hard.

The things he does with Pika and.....well everybody.

That being said I haven't watched a huge amount of mango's stuff.

Isai is way too far ahead of the competition for them to be compared really. But then again no one plays 64, so that makes sense. The competition level of melee is way, way higher. All speculative unless the 64 community grows a lot, which won't happen.

Mango plays several characters very well, and he probably has the best Mario out there. However, HBox may have a better puff, Dr. PeePee has a better falco, and several people have better Falcons.

Isai is consistently excellent with all 12 characters in SSB64. With the possible exceptions of Falcon and Yoshi, he is probably the single best player with each character.

If 64 was the only game out and the community was at least as big as melee's, I wouldn't doubt there would be players at Isai's to his level or at least close. Melee's been thriving for a while and the metagame is still advancing. No one's been fully established as the new best since Mango even though there are players approaching his level.

But since no one compares to Isai in 64. Isai is the clear answer.

I don't know about that. In Melee terms, Isai is like, the precision, game knowledge, and tech skill of M2K + the reading and adaptability of Mango + like a decade of experience.

I don't know if you're trolling or not.

Either way, a big "F*** you" from the Smash64 community.

You're in denial bro. It's a simple fact that the smash 64 is tiny and shrinking. The player base gradually whittled away by two more recent smash games and aging technology. An old game like smash 64 is not going to suddenly surge in popularity, especially with two sequels. Nothing personal against smash 64, but let's be realistic here.

PS, how often do 64 tourneys (where they even exist) reach over say, 50 players?

I'm not denying it's tiny. I wouldn't say it's shrinking, though. It was never big.

IDK. I feel like Smash 64 is starting to gain recognition. It's starting to be featured at large tournaments (Apex 2, DGDTJ, Genesis 2), and it finally escaped from the depths of "General Gaming" (although we didn't get our own section like we wanted), and got a backroom. I think it might have a chance.

Admittedly, I've only heard of 50+ player tournaments at Japan, where it's a lot more popular (sold more than Melee >_>).

Smash 64 is bigger than ever. Still not huge, but say its shrinking is lets say, wrong.

But on topic. Isai ofc. Its obvious.

I actually played 64 for the first time in literally 10 years last week

it's mad fun

if i went to a tourney and there was a 64 side event, i'd get on that **** in a second

i must implore the melee community, don't be to 64 what brawl is to us

it physically pains me to see quotes like this, because i remember how it made me feel when brawl***s came in here saying the exact same ****
