In early 2007 I played a lot with a few students at the Claremont Colleges. At first I just played with some decent Harvey Mudd kids; they weren't that active in tournaments and they frequently switched tags, so I doubt that anybody here remembers them. Later on in the year I played with some CMC and Pomona students (Thor, Squee, Atul, and Yomi) who got me to actually start going to tournaments. From then on I mostly just practiced with whomever I played at tournaments, although playing P every now and then definitely helped me improve, also.

My UC Berkeley crew Gentlemen of Bowles and other rival UCB crews would hold several smash gatherings and crew battles back in late '05/early '06. Not to mention playing a **** load of other ppl from my school. I guess you could say that fellow college students were my 'training.' And of course OC2, NCT2, Ken Biweeklies, NorCal Biweeklies, Best of '06, and several several Berkeley smashfests/tournaments (strictly speaking of 2006). But mostly smashing with my Bowlesmen at their apartment/dorm room in the early days helped tons.

But if I must drop a name in terms of early training. Panda. June '06. We played a bunch of friendlies, I got *****, and he's really good at explaining stuff.

Panda is the ultimate trainer.

Snap was the first pro I played.

And HugS inspired me the most. <3

link's weird to fight. if you grabbed at times when you chose to nair, though, you would've ***** him pretty hard. grab, combo, ledge stall when link is recovering and either bair or shine and it's a four stock

Bingo.

I've had no 'formal' training, I guess.
The single most influential person for me is Sheridan. Taught me how to D.I. and some more basic things I should have already known. I still need way more practice against him if I ever want to beat Jigglypuff...
Also I got some good advice from Germ during some friendlies that helped me get better almost immediately.
As far as people that have inspired me, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have kept playing past my first tournament [MLG Anaheim] if it wasn't for SilentSpectre's complete **** that tournament.

I also have to give it up to my friend that I used to play against almost every day. He managed to keep up with me pretty well for a while. It finally got to the point where I was beating his main [and only character] with any and all characters I picked though. He's better then me at Brawl though I think, not that I play that game.

EDIT: **** I ALMOST FORGOT
Romeo619 got me into this **** and is awesome
and
Butters000 from Arizona helped me over aim a lot not that it ever made me better.
