YAAAAAAAAY I can finally SHFFL with Ganon! It even help me beat my friend's fairly good Mario! I remember trying to WD to edgehog in that same match and it came out after he grabbed the ledge and I fell off the stage, so I did my ^B and it knocked him to the other side of the stage. It was pretty funny because then I still edgehogged him.

Very nice Dylan. Exactly the kind of player I'd want to practice against. Maybe when Brawl comes out lol.

Edit: Hey Dylan, you think you could record some matches of us playing smash 64? That would be awesome.

Btw, why are all the matches on FD? o.O
And personally I think your edgeguarding could be a little more aggressive, esp. against a cf player. Nonetheless, good vids so far.

Why do you have a picture of Azen holding a wiimote?
ROFLMAO

anyways, I seriously think there's little to worry about

Sakurai knows what he's doing, I seriously doubt they'd take a masterpiece like melee, and re- create it into "brawl" if they thought there was any chance of it not living up to melee's standards.

There's still probably ALOT of time until Brawl comes out, and I doubt their going to waste it. Think from thier point of view, their sitting on a major gold mine if they can succesfully sell this game, you can expect they'd be VERY cautious of what their doing.

The trailer's look good so far aswell, just a few errors, but like I said, still in development

Plus, i'm pretty sure that their working with data from the construction of melee, so it's not like thier making a game from scratch, thier just expanding. And if they get to the piont where they've expanded TOO much, and if the changes may turn away fans, they'll realize it

Besides........Has anyone seen Metaknight "pwnswrding" the hell outa everyone :p how can one doubt brawl after that :p

What makes that match so sweet is that the falcon was quite good, you played a really good match.

Hey Im down man. If you wanna play right now im also down. I dont have recording equipment though but I think people just use ''hypercam'' I always see ''Unregistered hypercam user'' in the top of recorded Kailerra matches.

What im saying is I dunno how to record kailera matches but if you have the means to do so by all means record some matches with me.

Banks : VERY awkward with a keyboard, I use a Nexttech ps2 shell usb controller. Strangely enough I play smash with the Dpad rather than the control sticks, I hate ps2 control sticks for smash.

smash64 is awkward with a keyboard, isnt it?
Who said I played with a keyboard?

Edit: lol, we posted at the same time. I was just wondering if it was possible that you try recording the computer screen with your videocamera or something. Although I guess that wouldn't be great quality?...whatev. If I get ahold of Hypercam, maybe I'll record. For now, if you want to play once you're done uploading, I'm game ^^, though I haven't played in weeks.

I could record my computer screen with my camera I guess but it will be very very tricky to set up. Ill think about it.

I've got 2 more matches to upload, and school tomorrow so I dont think I can go on kaillera tonight actually.

Watching the first match. Will edit as soon as I can say something regarding the match besides 'I HATE SHEIK.'

[Edit:]

Wow....Falcon had a BAD match that round, huh? Jesus...he could not ****in' catch a break...

I honestly don't know what to look for in a good Sheik. :-/ I'm not gonna be really all that much help. I'm pretty sure you would **** my Ganon, as that jab to grab thing fookin' ***** his soul. As AxemRed (I think) said, you could definitely be a little more agressive with the edgegaurds. Given...from the first match, I couldn't tell much of anything...haha.

I don't have a lift there, or any details other than its may 12th and its in O-town.

If I can get a lift and some money from my dad Ill go since its on a saturday. Itll be good for the experience but I think despite my improvements Im still gonna rank badly, dunno though Id love to compete in a tourney again.

Ill talk to Damax see if he has space in the car, if not Ill ask around the MTL thread for anyone who can offer me a space for the drive.

Banks : lol ya I love the last kill. Chainthrow to over 200% to nair. You can chainthrow falcon only at really high percentage, its hilarious to just add the damage.

Thanks for the words of inspiration friend. Means a lot coming from someone as skilled with shiek as yourself (judging from your matches) even if you're not the best I know I could learn a lot from ya, hope to face you someday.

Hmm well, it's probably going to be sum rough competition since almost every1 from the PR is goin to be there... It's been a while since I've actually played the game because of school and stuff. But, I'm on vacation starting today, so I guess I'll have a lil' bit of time to get back into tourney shape haha.

O back on topic about Brawl i noticed that it looks kinda slow in the previews and it looks like you can keep characters in you range of attack longer like when Meta-Knight comes into his part and he does like that triple sword slash thing it doesn't look much like Melee to me. Wavedashing we gotta keep it's my favorite way to combo and without it I'm pretty useless. Dodging has to stay. How would it be fun or thrilling without the dodge. Melee is where they gotta look at first, the pros and the cons. Figure out what sold the game and what made it fun and what made people put the controller down. Personally I'm hoping for the same aspects of Melee except better graphics and items. But for what Dylan_Tnga said about making it noobish i hope will stay out of the way. We already have way too many childish games for the Wii we don't need anymore!

What are you talking about, it's exactly like kirby's fair, and similar to link's/YL's u-smash. Sakurai is just making more moves like that (judging from the trailer, which is really old at this point).

How noobish is that? That's like me saying I want them to keep BxR for Halo 3. Or that I didn't want them to make moves lag as much when they first made SSBM. It's stupid to NOT want a sequel to make changes. I mean, who wants a totally new game that's exactly the same as the old game.

I don't even see a valid point to this thread, and I'm shocked that it's such a hot topic (I shouldn't talk, I'm contributing to it ;) ) I personally would be happy if they take wavedashing out. I didn't know this until recently, but it was ridiculously easy and broken to combo in SSB (search for a video on youtube about SSB, it's ridiculous). They made SSBM a little less broken, but since people discovered wavedashing, which lead to broken combo-ing, although not to the extent of the prequel. SSBM is actually reasonably balanced. I'm sure that SSBB will be even more well balanced.

How is it broken? Because it's not a 'dail a combo' game like Mortal Komat [crappy series]? You make WDing sound like it wins games, it doesn't. It's been said 100s of times, WDing is just a way to move without running [which has lag] or rolling [which is predictable].

If anything SSBB's comboing looks broken. You can't even DI out of Pit's/metaknight's combos.

Devas, you're here. Where ya been, man?

And BDawg, you've garnered some respect from me. Props for your ability to think logically. However, the reason this thread is so 'hot' as you put it has NOTHING to do with the actual thread. A few of us just congregate here and talk about random this and that. Every once in a while, though, we'll have someone come in and say something about the actual topic. On topic-ness! Laughable!

Actually, his Usmash is identical to Kirby's if I remember correctly.

Sensai, I just meant that Meta-Knight's air attack (fair?) is very similar to kirby's fair in that it deals three separate hits.

And I was expecting at least one response to my other post above X_X. Ah well.

Dude, I would just like to say that they can't improve perfection. Nintendo needs to stop trying to make the fun for little 4 years olds, and get some games out there for guys like us. The sun will shine a little darker the day that nintendo craps up the perfect game.

Here's my take. If you can win without abusing the faults of a game engine, then you won't fail when those faults are fixed. And if the faults are fixed, it means that they messed with gameplay.

Wavedashing also makes it a lot easier to set up inescapable combos, if in the hands of an intelligent player. And that's just with comboing. You obviously have never played a good fox, have never seen a good fox, or been to the fox forums, because if you have, you know about waveshining, and if you're caught in that, no matter who you are, you're probably dead.

By the way, by "broken" I mean that 0-to-death combos are common. Like I said, go watch a video of SSB on youtube, and you'll see what I mean. Melee isn't NEARLY that bad, but considering you can chain grab a lot of characters to at least 50 if you're sheik, or waveshine someone to their death if you're fox, those small instances are no different than the old game. All you have to do is fall into one and you're dead. It's just much less common in Melee than SSB. And Brawl will be even better than melee, because they'll find a way to fix such flaws, although it's quite possible that more flaws will arise. But Brawl is still gonna be an epic game :)

..And BDawg, you've garnered some respect from me...
Yay I feel loved! :)

How can you say Melee is perfection? I mean, we all thought SSB was perfection before melee came out. Or was that just me? (Again to bring a Halo reference to a Smash board) I remember everyone saying Halo 2 was for noobs because they noob-ed everything up. But when good players took the stage it was actually much more balanced than Halo. So just trust that Brawl will be an improvement.

Probably because if things get noob friendly the get will be less deep and the line between pros and casual players would be blurred thus destorying any chance for Brawl to be taken seriously at tournament level.

/ramble

The thing is wavedashing is probably the result of the fix of a glitch. They probably encountered another glitch like airdodging into or through the stage and attempted to fix it by causing the character to skid along the ground based on the angle of the airdodge [which was why we can wavedash on the spot, or go to the max lenght by holding it diagonally] and the character's traction [which is why Mewtwo's, Luigi's, and ICs' WDs are the top 3 longest WDs because they slide easily].

Chances are they'd have to work harder to fix the problem. If they remove traction then when characters get hit diagonally to the ground at higher %s they'd just stop. Notice how sometimes you tech a strong blow and you slide back really far, in some cases you tech, slide while teching, reach the end of the platform while teching, and just slide off when the tech is over. Sliding also occurs more during light shielding so they'd have to change that too.

I don't know what else they'd have to change but it isn't as simple as removing one part of the equation.
