I'm just throwing this out there though, I don't want my post to look too off topic or spammy, I figure I did a decent job.
Well, after you say that...that kinda ruins the point...>_>

But.

FS's wont limit play in the least. It's not like gigabowser wouldnt be stupidly broken, and Zamus would be that detrimental to the character list (maybe it'll get more people to start playing samus) and furthermore, people that aren't SWFers arent going to care if certain characters arent available. Sakurai wants this game to appeal to everyone, not just smashers (for example:supspace emissary), so we can all just wait...really.

My only gripe right now in Smash Bros is the addition of the ''Assist Trophies''. Those pokéball-like items are a way to include minor Nintendo characters in the game without having to make them as playable characters. The assist trophies lack originality IMO because they're just a replica of pokéballs, and it also shows Sakurai's lack of ''balls'' because he is afraid to slash many underserving characters from the roster that have a certain fanbase. However, for each AT update that gets released, we know that some of these fanboys are getting ''pwnt''. First were the Samurai Goro enthusiasts, now, which group is going to get their hopes crushed next???
Yes, that's true, but I believe that Sakurai is using Asssist trophies as updates as a gentle way of letting us know that certain characters we can stop hoping for before we get our hopes too high. That's exactly how I felt with Goroh. I was thinking that he would be the new addition to the F-Zero franchise, but Sakurai dismissed that. I do pity any losers that wept when discovering that Dr. Wright will only be an Assist trophy.

I'm sure Ike is as strong and fast as Marth and Roy combined, so I don't really mind if both of them are gone :bigthumbu and I know Pit is gonna be simply one of the best floaty characters in the game, and can't wait to see if in 2008 or 2009 they release a new Kid Icarus game  but that will never happen sadly.

Looks like today's update gave an important tibdit: some of the moves of heavy/slow characters give them invulnerability frames. Innnteresting.

I'm pretty certain this will change a lot of the way most heavies, such as Bowser or Gannondorf, are played. Who knows, it might actually give slower characters a chance of not being interrupted in pretty much every strong attack and/or combo, and therefore make them actually useful.

It's little bits like this that make one think Sakurai is indeed aware of some of the balance problems of Melee, and make me confident that the chance of Brawl actually sucking is pretty much nonexistant.

Oh, and...

Bowser for mid-tier! Turtle revenge!

Honestly, I really have no doubts about this game. With Sakurai directing and Nintnedo seemingly taking their sweet time on this, it will likely exceed my expectations. Besides, worrying just stresses you out ;P

Actually, on the old site, Sakurai said something about Pit in smash being the bridge to bring Pit back into gaming on systems like the Wii. I'm sure he was hinting at an upcoming, maybe Zelda-like, 3D adventure in Kid Icarus. That would be great. I picture it being something like StarFox adventures.
But back on topic, the quote from Sakurai:

He’s not really invincible—he still takes damage. But he won’t flinch in the slightest.

This time, there are several moves like this among the heavy characters, so watch out!

I hope he's hinting Bowser there. Zelda too. Contrary to her appearance and easy knockability, Zelda is a heavy character. Slow, but powerful attacks. Man, I see so much balance work going into this, but I recently had a thought. The developers should release a beta version, so the enthusiasts can purchase it and do bug-testing like with Blizzard-made games. Smashers would be able to find all the exploits and glitches, and point them out so that they could be removed. I'm not talking about any advanced techs- they are part of the game. Forgive me Shai, but I'm talking about things like Wobbling, and forgive me Dylan, the shine infinite. Even if these are exceptionally hard for the player to execute, the best can do it consistantly, and I would rather not see unbreakable infiinites in smash. Of course, I'm biased, not playing either of those characters.

I honestly wish that they spent few more months making the game and release it in the summer instead so that my schoolwork wont die.

Doc is better for FFA's than Mario, look at Mario's traits.
High Combo Ability
KO retarted.

Those make Mairo unsuitable to FFA's, which shows that their is a different tier list to casual tier lists, Mario could be low tier in casual matches with Doc a bit higher up.

Also, this update makes me sure I won't main Ike [I will give him a try]. He's a heavy, I like faster characters. I will try him out regardless [as I enjoy playing as Samus].

I prefer a mix of slow and strong, and light and weak characters. Meaning I'm going to main Pit, Ike, Metaknight, Snake, and Link. And I'm most definitely going to enjoy Brawling with the guys and girls from these forums.

I agree. It could be SO much better given an extra 6 months to do whatever they want:

More unlockables
More costumes
More testing time
More game physics refinement.
More characters
More stages

MORE HYPE, MORE TIME, MORE MONEY.

So what's to stop them from just putting it off every six months? It's gotta come out some time, and there're always going to be people who get left out of the game.

And I was incorrect in thinking that Sakurai had never said anything about online ranking. That was STILL before Strikers's ranking system was put up there, though, so...jeah. I'm still a wee bit hopeful.

And you guys, you guys have FFAs wrong. They're not about winning. Just choose a character you seldom play and go ape-****. I play a Yoshi in FFA.

Lol Sensai, I tried that, but with Bowser. Let me just say, NEVER pick Bowser in FFA. EVER. Even if your name is Gimpyfish, don't do it! I swear at the beginning of the match someone sticks a "hit me" sign on Bowser. But if you want to play smash volleyball, with you being the live ball pick Bowser.

Brawl doesn't need online rankings to make me happy, I'm fine just playing friend battles, those will be better than random.

About FFA's, its true Sensai. I used Marth quite a bit in the FFA's, and I used Link once, I even did the Bomb recovery. However I will use my mains occasionally, and Mario is truely awful in FFA's on those tiny cramped courses [I noticed out that many of the stages picked seemed anti-Mario, the guest was the only one who picked the stages most of the time, I like Venom though, and I HATE green greens]. I noticed why FD is my favorite stage, and Dreamland 64 I kinda like [Brinstar 1 is one of my fav but that's besides the point]. Those two stages are basically Mario's best. FD is practically the stage for combos, and Dreamland 64 has a nice ground area and some platforms for some tricks.

I noticed the Ray Gun is one of the few items I like. I picked it up with Mario, and I turned into Falco. I was shorthop lasering [though not as effective], using it to stun my opponents and start combos, etc etc. If we ever have an items match in Brawl, I want that to be one of the few items I turn on, along with the smoke bomb and bumper [pitfall off please, it looks like it'll stinkith so much]. Though items off most of the time.

Bowser is such a big target that he'll DIE in an FFA... Now if only I could have 4 people at a time to play some team matches, although they would attempt to split me and my brother up or refuse to play, it stinks... Hopefully online will permit team battles in friend matches.

He's riht, never play bowser in a FFA. My friend plays bowser, and sometimes we do FFA's for fun. People will purposfully pick characters to **** bowser with in FFAs

I always pick Falco or CF xD

Anyway, it does seem like this game will be more balancd now that heavyweights have so invulnerability. Let's hope mewtwo gets heavier and has a new >B -.-;;

So when it comes to online FFA's, I'm picking Ike or someone else that's good at FFAs in Brawl. I haven't been involved in a lot of FFA as you guys have. Well, Sakurai might consider the ranking system with the suscess of Mario Strikers online. I'm sure people have thought of that idea.

I don't go in FFA's often, and I haven't been missing out. Some people will greatly enjoy the FFA's, others hate them, and some are fine with both, essentially prefering one over the other. Its weird how many people diss tournament players saying their way isn't fun and assume that items are more fun for everyone [there are some who assume the other way around, but its mostly scrub players saying that tournament play is boring even for tournament players...]. When I said I disliked items, one person said I had to try them before assuming anything, and he didn't know that I DID try. But alas, what can you do. This thread was more safe in that regard compared to the rest of th3 Brawl thread, but we are forced to return to a topic which about 95% of the Brawl Boards population believes to be false. Only item I like is the Ray Gun, and only for those rare times.

And rankings, Strikers does it by matches played, but I hear that your records are deleted every season [I think about a week].... Meh, I'm fine without a rankings system lest the amount of hackers, all I want is full customization [FULL customization]. In friend matches I'd like certain players to play versus certain others, I plan on having a huge friend list and I plan on fighting someone when I WANT to fight them.

Have you guys seen the Wii-headset? If not, take a look at this: http:/www.wiiloaded.com/wii-news-Wii-Microphone---From-a-Nintendo-employee-a-9277#

Guys, I just read the article about that and that picture's actually a photoshop. However, they might implement the Wii-headset and like Wiseguy said, you could talk to people only on your Wii friend code list like with the DS.

Online ranking? Has it even been confirmed there will be online?

Ranks won't mean a thing if they are implemented. People will find ways to cheat so they can have a bigger number than you.

Yeah I don't really care about the ranks for personal recognition, I want them so I can fight people of my level.

Hmm, then it should be like that, except hidden. And it shouldn't be by wins/losses but by WHO you won/lost against, keeping it hidden for rank competitions sounds excellent. :)

Also, if I ever need to chat with a teamate or to get pointers, there is the DS Wifi [but you need a headset to make it comfortable]. It would be awesome if wii mic support is supported, but Nintendo's online sucks too much to implement it.

Today I played some 1v1s to get back into shape, I had lost my combo habit. Also, I told me brother to try out a space animal, he enjoys playing as a happy Falco now. So his main is Pika, secondaries Jiggly and Falco. I'm gonna try to teach him SHL, but it seems harder to pull off with Falco than with Fox for me [my Fox SHL is excellent now, I can get it consistant but I cannot hit ducking Jigglypuff's, but Pika I can].

I notice something excellent with Samus, you just charge up your arm cannon, and there is a bigger chance of your opponent messing up, you don't even have to fire it. Its so awesome. And Dylan, I'm taking your advice, I'm shffling nairs with Fox more often now, its so excellent.

If online is implemented, I expect it to be simple just as Nintendo wants it to be. Chances are this game's going to be region-locked, so we can't play against everyone around the world. That's fine with me, anyways. Anyone else want to discuss?

If you cannot play against everyone in the world, then that is more proof that Nintendo's online sucks [wait, I hear Strikers was like that, but I am not sure]. They are going to make it so simple that items cannot be turned off/customized, I just know it. I don't care about friendcodes, but if its clunky... :?

Also, this thread has seen better days, I miss the off-topic times... Talking about Melee, or other fighters, but more with a Brawl outlook. Those were the bright days...

I miss them, too, Superstar, but now we're on security watch. Anyways, they could try to reduce the lag somehow since it's obviously Brawl's going to lag so online play can be at least decent.

Hopefully, but I KNOW there will be some flaw in Brawl's online. There basically always is, I think in Strikers they region locked it.

Dylan, I'm kinda leaving the Brawl Boards as well. I'm starting to settle into other boards. This thread was the only reason I came to the Brawl Boards, every other thread is filled with some stupidity or other. Quite the shame actually, but there is nothing you can do...

No Im quitting smashboards entirely. 5 infrfactions in one thread, when other people were posting nekrophiliac porno.

Yes, that makes sense. I can see im not wanted. I sure was treated without bias, and the same way any other poster was treated

except oh wait no, the only reason my posts got infractions was because Im Dylan. Thats it.

Dylan, I feel I must say this: the reason your posts were treated so harshly (which might be true) was because you flame people who you feel are below you at every chance you get. If I said something like
Dylan_Tnga said:

then I doubt I'd get in much trouble if any at all, simply because I don't have a history of being condescending towards people who are clueless. Given...that comment isn't really directed at anyone (so far as I can tell) nor is it condescending in the least...I dunno.

I still think this thread is pretty random. Not like 4chan random, nor like it used to be but...it's pretty kwayzee.

And Strikers's online is region locked.

We are forbidden to go random. Do you notice everyone is repeating their feelings for online? Some random moves and we lose the thread, under so great a security watch we cannot.

I think I might settle on the Mario boards, and the light house, and maybe enjoy some Mafia games. And Dylan, you might have to quit the boards for a while, the Brawl Boards is a very hostile place, but maybe there is a freer place?

And Striker is region locked? Does that include friend matches, cause if it does....!

We should all join that new smash forum ''play 2 win''

Seriously, everyone in this thread. These forums are under modzi regime, and they get spammed by idiots every night. Why stay?

Uh oh I just called the spammers ''idiots'' I bet Ill get an infraction for that, even though they post porno, insult everyone, and hate our community.

HOW DARE I?!

Hmm... there's always the Montreal thread lol

I also love the Roy boards (aka the realm of eternal ph1re) for their constant flame wars.

General Melee Discussion is a nice place for sum smart discussion... thats where I make most of my smart posts

Btw if Striker is region locked... then that would mean Brawl too!!!

Neways I don't wanna play against japanese players, cause of the lag and their uber skillz. Had some bad experiences while playing Bleach DS.
