Which to use - N-air or D-air

I'm having trouble hitting with my D-air; either its too early or too late and I usually get smacked for it. My question is, when you're falling, do you prefer to use a D-air or a N-air if the person is below you?

Thanks for any help

If you're trying to attack coming directly down on an opponent, you're most likely going to get punished for it whether it be a dair or nair.

You have to space yourself. You have multiple jumps so this shouldn't ever occur. Use another jump as you're using your dair above them, and pull away so you don't get punished. If you don't space correctly, you're always going to get punished.

I though spacing meant knowing your attack range vs your opponent, that proper spacing meant falling and hitting with the tip of my d-air/at its max range, rather than pulling away and using d-air?

it depends how much more of a range the opponent has on you with any of his up attacks (since your mk most opponents shouldnt) i normally stick to mindgames and space myself pretty well and try to lower they're sheild with my down air and when its small enough hit through the minor space u do have with the tornado, i never use the Nair coming down on an opponent. the Down air is a rediculous move with incredible range and pretty nice speed little lag time, but it all depends on the player i guess

I think a good way to use dair is to just float above them and dair. character dependant of course but i think that is a very effective way of using dair. I don't think you should ever fall on an enemy with dair.

M2K does that I think.

Undiminished dair actually has a surprising amount of killing power, and it's always helpful to gimp with it if they're recovering below you. As mentioned in a previous post, jumping and dairing is a pretty good idea to get into as well as it helps your spacing and can even bait attacks out of your enemy.

Nair's only purpose is a surprise kill move due to its power yet its very short range(considering MK). You could FF-nair(though situational, I'd bet), but you want to connect with the first hitframe of the attack otherwise the knockback will be teh sux.

Though I feel like I'm being redundant and just repeating everything everyone just said.

it does 19% if both hits connect and can be combo'd into sometimes at low % too, and it's pretty good out of shield against badly spaced attacks, it can also be useful while edge guarding for instance it's one of the main attacks you want to go after snake with off the edge because only it and shuttle loop will consistently knock him off of his cypher and it can also be useful for edge guarding other MK's...it has plenty of purposes.

I use D-Air a lot. I use it to keep my opponent away from me when I'm approaching them. I know that sounds kind of weird, but....

N-air is just something I pull out of my *** once every 3 brawls. D-airs range is just so awesome you can't go wrong.
nair is fraekin amazing. amazing speed, no ending lag, does 19% when both hits hit, can kill, and can combo well. only weak spot is its range, but MK's speed makes up for it. nair is a really solid move
