See and react to the roll. Fast fall L cancel turn around grab, or fast fall waveland if you did the first fair early and waveland grab, or just space away to avoid a hit. Or you can predict the roll and use a late nair to catch them instead of fair.

land, turn around, grab

alternatively you can dair them and combo from there.

also, fade backwards with a nair if you think they will roll into you.

Empty short hop turn around grab, short hop fair early then waveland behind as they roll behind you then you grab, fair turn around dtilt.

After you land, you can side-b backwards. It's pretty fast. Not very instinctive, though. Depending on how the roll is spaced, dash dance grab should be easy to react with.

Honestly, it's better to cover that option by spacing so that a towards roll will still have them in front of you. Retreating fair and fair in place are better for covering options.

Also, if this whole "rolling behind" trick is such a big issue for you, I think you should just start picking up on their roll patterns and being prepared to punish it in the first place, instead of letting it catch you off guard time and time again.

Watch your opponent. It's much easier to see the roll and punish it if you're paying attention. This may seem obvious but you have to get to the point where you don't have to focus on your own character at all, just keep track of where he is in the corner of your eye as you focus back and forth between your opponent and the space between you two.

If you mean spacing Fair by constant FJs and SH double Fair and other slow stuff just don't do slow stuff lol. Mix in some SHFFLs. SHFFL Fair should be your main form of Fair anyway.

If you mean spacing Fairs by SHFFL Fairs, turn around and grab.

Fair then dash away and grab

fair to uptilt

fair then fair again while ya pulling back

empty short hop then react to their reaction (i didn't read anyone post but i'm sure someone said this already)

fair land and pivot dtilt (this is a hard to do, i'm still working on it)

fair to pivot jab *another hard one =(*

depending what character and moves the guy using, just cc (at low percentage) and turn around grab?

i think the easiest way is either

fair to utilt (back swing covering behind you)

or

fair to nair (nair covers your direct area, hitting any rollers or dodgers away)

They've all said examples, but here's the rub.

There is no spacing fair pattern (even full-hopping them) that will not allow you to punish on reaction, all you need is the timing down for punishment.

Your fair will end and you'll be able to act well before your opponent, and can do pretty much whatever (though depending on the timing you may be limiting in the full-hop, but why are you randomly spamming full-hop fairs).

Fastfall->grab/ftilt/f-smash/uptilt
Doublejump->any aerial

If you full-hopped, you can almost certainly fastfall a dair, possibly bair too.

Rolling is VERY unsafe in melee, punish your opponent hard for it.
