I'm not afraid of the dark itself, but of things that could be in the dark. I always scare myself. And you know the Chuckie doll? UGH! At the moment there's a big box in mine and my brother's bedroom standing in upward position. I think of seeing a hand come out and then scare myself. Also, when I brush my teeth at night with the door closed, I'm usually standing in front of the mirror, and the toilet is behind me reflecting in it. So, being me, I imagine something coming out of the toilet to grab me. It was probably because of that one Rocko's Modern Life episode I saw when I was younger. Rocko and Filbert were "married," and this one guy would spy on them for some reason. When Rocko was in his bathroom with the toilet reflecting in it, a head came out of the toilet, and he turned around and saw nothing.

I have no problem with the dark, I just have problems with things IN the dark :p I don't know if that's a phobia or not.

That's exactly the same thing I have. I call it fear of depth. I really didn't have a problem with it until I started swimming in the ocean. Once I was looking swimming in some deep water. I could see about 7-8 feet below me, but not the bottom. Then out of nowhere a large shark (I think it was a Nurse shark since I've seen a couple of them there) about 8 feet long swam under me.

Since then I really want to see the bottom of any water I swim in. It's not really a phobia since I can still swim if I can't but it makes me nervous even if its in a pool.

I have a fear of falling, it doesnt matter how high I am, but if im near a high ledge then Im petrified.
I also greatly fear any critters getting in my clothing.
I also have a fear of the dark. one time I fell asleep when watching "Pitch Black" and when I woke up, i was petrified(it was dark). I felt that if I sttod up that something would fly by and take my head off. after seeing someone get up, I went to my room and hid under the covers almost beliveing I was safe.
I also fear the unknown, or something. Every time I take the trash at night, I fear that some creature is coming after me.

ect...

The single thing that I fear is my Bro beating me at any type of game. It plagues my dreams at night, especially Smash Bros. Melee. I have insomnia, someone help me, I'm beginning to look like this!

Well, I hate the dark. I'm fine going through my house when it's dark, but outside... I can't stand it. If I was in a forest... Alone... With no lights, I would freak.

Don't presume to enlighten me on sharks, as they were a hobby of mine. I'm certain I know quite a bit more about them than you. Nurse sharks are normally nonagressive and not maneaters, but they has been accounts of unprovoked attacks. As a matter of fact their jaws are so strong that in some cases the sharks jaws had to be removed with medical devices.

Here is a link that supports me.

Hey, did you guys know that everyone fears the same thing- being alone/not needed. It is probably one of the deepest of all human fears. (Amazing what Psychology teaches, eh?>) :D

I also kind of have a fear of the dark. It probably ties into my fear of ghosts, because they seem to only hang around in the dark. The toilet in my house is positioned RIGHT next to a window, covered by a curtain. At night, I can hardly be in there, because I think there is something behind the curtain.

Just for the heck of it, I am going to bring this post back to go along with Halloween. I suffer from Agrophobia, a fear of stressful situations or anxiety causing events.
(Ex.) Most people when they make mistakes they think nothing of it and just go on with their life and remember not to do that again, but people like me fear the worst and sever the oppertunity of making a mistake agian, mainly by just staying home or doing chores or events when less people are around....

So people what are your phobias?

I'm afraid that Jesus might be a gay black jew and that all of your religions are wrong.

What do you call that phobia?

I hope it's called Jesusisfakeaphobia. Or Shitonyourchestaphobia.

Hm.. I have a few phobias.. I think.

It's not darkness that scares me, but what my brain tricks me into thinking is in it. Ghosts, mainly. My house is really big, old, and dark... and there are always wierd noises going on, especially at night, and that seems to freak the crap out of me.

I also have Claustrophobia - the fear of enclosed spaces.
At least, a little bit. As long as I can move my arms a bit, I'm usually fine.

I always get the feeling I'm being watched, and though I tell myself not to, I always have to look in the mirror, or out the window, or behind me, just in case...

There's really nothing that I fear enough for it to be considered a phobia. Heck, for that matter, I can hardly name anything that I fear.

...I don't fear letting go. Certainly not!

But if I did, the following song may be inspirational to me:

Letting go
by Nitin Sawhney

Now I often talk of my heart
How can I turn to the dark
And the swaying silence
I see
There’s nothing I can hold on to
You can’t breathe
If I hold you tight
You can’t breathe
If I hold you tight

Don’t be afraid of letting go
Don’t be afraid of letting go

Not of anything, not of anyone
All alone here with my demons
Am I ready to move on
To a person or place
Alone
Away from here
And I miss you
And I’m losing you
And I found you
I choose to
Follow my heart

Don’t be afraid of letting go
Don’t be afraid of letting go

Not of anything, not of anyone
Not of anything, not of anyone
Don’t be afraid of letting go
Don’t be afraid of letting go
Don’t be afraid of letting go
Don’t be afraid of letting go
Don’t be afraid of letting go
Don’t be afraid of... go.

I'd have to say that I'm afraid of the dark, especially when I'm around windows, I always think that I see or hear things outside or even inside. Unless, that is, I'm living on the top floor of my dorm building. Then, I'm just afraid of my neighbor Mark. He seems like the serial killer type and I don't like that.

I also have a fear of bugs. That could be because I accidentally put my foot in a bee hive when I was like 6.

Another thing that gets to me is swimming alone. Even in my pool I tend to get freaked out about sharks, fish, water gnomes, and other such nasty sea creatures. I think the worst thing in the world is if I was swimming in a glass pool at night and when I came up there was a swarm of bees, so I would have to dive back down, but when I went back down there was a man on the other side of the glass looking at me.... that would suck.... a lot. :(

hey, i found this place called http://www.phobialist.com/ which has a list of a LOT of phobias. just search through it and find the name of your fear. the only fear that i really have is...

Lilapsophobia- Fear of tornadoes (and hurricanes)

I'm actually only afraid of Tornadoes specificly, not huricanes, since I live in Tornado Valley, nowhere near the coast. the only reason that I'm actually afraid of them was that back when i was about 3 i remember this one time when there was a pretty bad storm and my mom kept looking at the clouds trying to find a sign of tornadoes, and it really dark and i remember this weird feeling pervading the house at the time. there was no tornado but i think it imprinted on my mind at that early age, and now i have an odd fear of tornadoes. as a result i get kinda worried every time there's a storm, but it's no big deal. unless there actually is a tornado...

EDIT: I found something that i thought was rather funny. it turns out that the fear of long words is Sesquipedalophobia, or even Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia. talk about cruel irony.
