As far as marth can go, I'd say a technical marth is one that doesn't mess up his chain throws and connects his attacks at a high percentage. Also, swift movement.

a technical Marth is a Marth not being played right
... M2K lol
Technical is more than how fast you can press buttons. A large part of it is how precise you can be while pressing those buttons. Precision in timing as well as spacing, that is.
Other techniques like pivoting require tech skill too.

So if you're not playing a technical Marth, you're stuck in 2005

lol, all "technical" means is "having good technique." I don't know when the smash community distorted the word "technical" to mean "fast, to the point of excess" but "technical" space animals are fast because the characters themselves are fast; to be "technically proficient" with a space animal means mastering that character's speed.

So, to be a "technical" marth, it just means you don't miss ****.

When people say things like "Jiggs doesn't reqiure tech skill", that's usually relative to a character like Fox which requires a lot of practice and knowledge of specifics. So basically you're just looking at broad statements; don't take them too literally.

That's a tech skill beyond what's used generally in marth metagame that's useful and sufficently difficult to distinguish a marth as technical.

But playing smart has no adverse effect on your technical skill. Or shouldn't, rather.
I think the bigger concern is that people often use one to compensate for the lack of proficiency in the other.
