My all-time faves are Chrono Trigger, and Super Mario RPG.

Love the crap outta SMRPG, even made a freaking website over it just because it was so great, lol.

There are so many RPGs that I've played and love, but I honestly think that Final Fantasy XII is one of the greatest RPGs of all time.

If I had to choose an old school RPG, it would have to be Final Fantasy IV.

I really dig the Bioware RPGs. Knights of the Old Republic, Jade Empire, and the upcoming Mass Effect. They all let you choose your path, and much more succesfully than a game like Fable, where the morality felt phony and tacked on.

Morrowind and Oblivion are good because of the sheer scope and depth of the worlds. They're freaking huge, and you can do just about anything you want. Want to learn a spell to fly? You can do that. Want be able to jump from building to building? You can do that. Want to kill everybody in the game? You can do that too, if you've got enough time on your hands.

I also like games like Kingdom Heats, although I thought that the first one was quite a bit better than the second. They're both well done action RPGs, although there's nothing really ground breaking about them (although the inclusion of Disney characters is kind of weird).

Just a note you guys, Zelda isn't an RPG. It's an action/adventure game moreso, believe it or not. If it were an RPG, then you'd have levels and ****... just having a health/heart meter/containers go up doesn't automatically make it an RPG. Otherwise, we could classify that great FPS/Platformer Metroid Prime as an RPG...

For myself, none will ever beat the classicness of Lufia II: Rise of the Sinistrals. Close behind also are the classic SMRPG and Secret of Mana... I've played FFVII, both Chrono games (my name's got nothing to do with them, BTW), and I still prefer my classics to those other highly-touted games...

FFIX is my favourite RPG and game in general. It was the first Final Fantasy I really sat down with and the first RPG I really decided to tackle all hardcore like. Sure, I played all the Pokemon games and loved them but FFIX's wonderful story, colorful characters, and great music just blew me away. And, even more so, the sheer amount of impractical things spread throughout the game such as little snipits of history or character development and the side quests...it was just amazing.

Close seconds would probably be the Mario RPGs...all five of them. They just have so much of their own character...it's just glorious...:/

In that case, Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga and Shining Force (for Sega Genesis).

Skies of Arcadia Legends is my favorite RPG. The world so huge and imaginitive it covers up for the whole Fire, Ice, Water temple thing. The characters are cool, lots of collectables and hidden characters, and ship battles are the grandest things I've ever experienced in a game. The only real flaw is that it starts out slow.

Besides the obligatory FFVII mention (first real videogame I ever played), I'd have to say Final Fantasy Tactics, Disgaea: Hour of Darkness, and Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga.

Actually, I have to start playing more RPGs. I've been slacking off on that genre, lately.

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, or the original Paper Mario. Other favorites include Fire Emblem: Path of Radience, several of the Pokemon games, and... Something else... I can't remember what, though.

I love both the golden sun games, and I am hoping for a third, I bet they could even put it on the Wii.

Final Fantasy Tactics ADVANCED was a ton of fun, very odd in the beginning, but once you do over 200 damage, it seems like its incredibly fast paced.

I can't choose my favorite RPG between these 2 games.

Shining Force (Genesis) and ChronoTrigger (SNES)

I mean.... they're both flawless! (well nearly).

personally i think that final fantasy X-2 isn't that good. i liked final fantasy X but the sequel to it was just so different even yuna the main char. was totally different.

ToS - Tales of Symphonia, is the best Gamecube RPG in my opinion, I'm glad Namco released it on the GC, now that I have a PS2 I'm gonna get Abyss.

In my humble opinion. Square Enix games, and especially Final Fantasy basically blow all other RPGs out of the water. Not to say I've immersed myself to an extreme extent in the RPG universe, but I find that most FF and Square Enix games in general are unparalleled in terms of story, gameplay, and especially music.

This is probably the most biased opinion ever, of course. So don't think that I'm bashing any other games that people like. I'm just an extremely obsessed FF nerd ^_^

I especially loved FFI, FFVIII and FFX. FFVII gets an honorary mention for being legendary, and for having the best movie ever made after it.

FF8, Golden Sun 1&2, Sonic Battle(is a Fighting/RPG, thank you), Shining Force 1&2, Shining Soul 1, Shining Force: Resurrection of the Dark Dragon, FF9, and Quest 64. Not in exact order either. I hated FF7.
