uhh my favorite rpg is Saga Frontier 2, it gets horrible reviews, but I dont know I enjoy the game so much. It has really cool water colour art, and I dunno, a neat enough story. Other than that FF7(ya im one of those ff7 freaks). OH and kingdom hearts!

Heh,heh. The second RPG that I played. It's gotta be on the list. The first one being Chrono Trigger. Seiken Densetsu 3 is one of my all time favs too.

Do LoZ games honestly qualify as RPGs? they're more of an adventure genre of games then RPGs.
hmm...In a way, I suppose. 999 posts, one more to go! Nice work!:chuckle:

OH SNAPPLES, I forgot all about Saga frontier. Even though I liked the first one better, I still think Saga frontier 2 was a decent game. Unique Artwork, and a great story...at least when you're playing as Gustave.

Does anybody here play any Western RPGs?

Although I really like some of the Japanese RPGs, games like KotOR, Jade Empire and Morrowind are definitely among my favorites.

In terms of the Japanese RPGs, I like Chrono Trigger quite a bit. Pokemon is good too, actually. But the first Kingdom Hearts is probably my favorite.

Final Fantasy just doesn't do it for me.

What about Fable?
Fable wasn't as good as it could have been.

For one thing, it was short. For another, the morality system was too easy to abuse, and didn't really have any effect on the plot of the game. Lastly, the storyline was crap. There wasn't really anything interesting about the story.

Fable was still a fun game, but it wasn't a great game.

Setting you up the bomb.
Chrono Trigger hands down, although Final Fantasy IV, V, and VI, Super Mario RPG, and Tales of Symphonia are up there... Also, does Ogre Battle 64 count?

EDIT: That reminds me - I still have to play Seiken Densetsu 3 and Terranigma... >.<

edit : lol deathborne i have the terranigma rom waiting for me to play it. i havnt started it yet because im alrdy in the process of playing like 4 other games -__- i hear its pretty interesting tho with a sad ending

Wow, I really can't believe you can't play emulators while doin #2. Really, I thought you could.

(If you know what this series is, you rock)
.Hack series (the old one has a better story, but the new one is more fun to play)

They're both for ps2. The first series (IMOQ or Infection/Mutation/Outbreak/Quarantine) is 4 games with sketchy graphics, though the cut-scenes look very nice (at least for 3 and a half years ago).
The new series has very nice visuals and has three games in the series, but only one is out in America right now, .hack//G.U. (rebirth). .hack//G.U. is the name of the series.

ahh thats one series i forgot to mention. i was into the .hack games but i didnt have enuff money to buy the other 2 games. i beat infection and mutation. i really liked them too.

they had pretty good storylines but the overall gameplay was sort of repetitive. it was still very good

Yeah, that was the biggest miss, but the new series is way less repetitive. In the third game, you end up with 4 classes you can play. :D (In the first you get 2, twin blade and a similar version to heavy blade) ...that's for G.U.

I would suggest beating the series, or at least reading on the story line. It is so massive once you connect the dots to the whole game, it's crazy. And, the scary thing, is that it's not SO out of this world that it couldn't happen. The end is really good, I loved it.

Ending your game.
I love Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, Paper Mario, Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, Tales of Symponia, and Tales of the Abyss (PS2). And the Kingdom Hearts series...

.Hack//G.U.

It's pretty similar, with some tweeks. The biggest is the battle system, arena battle, and new classes. Some notible classes are gunblade, the 2 different magic people (offensive and defensive) and grappler (hand to hand). In game one you only have Twin blade then later a kind of heavy blade (you auto weapon has a chain saw edge >: D). 2rd game you get scythe!!!!! 3rd....*spoilers*

And battle is more fun, though quite different. Still real time, but you are enclose in an area and don't have the portal things that activate. You can do special attacks (like in IMOQ), but now you can do them with teammates. You also have other things, but they're more than needed to be explained.

Just expect similar gameplay, with a new (but still true to the old) feel.
--going to edit with a link or something, lol

OH, and you can play as a new looking skeith :).

Disgea 1 and 2. Very good Strategy RPG's, TONS of replayability, crackin' off damage that gets into the millions, level cap of 9999, funny storylines, good characters, excellent side questing.

I never played disgaea 1 or 2 but I did play Makai Kingdom. It has the same art style so I'm guessing they have the same developer. If disgaea is anything like Makai Kingdom, then it must be a great game.
