Legend of Zelda What if Nintendo made OoT, MM, and WW with TP graphics and controls for the Wii?

Wouldn't it be amazing if Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, and Wind Waker were remade with Twilight Princess graphics and controls for the Wii? Now, I'm not one of those people who think that graphics are what matter in a game, I would just love replaying all those games for the Wii. Seeing a detailed King Dodongo slowly creep over to Link and roar would be awesome. Looking up into the sky and seeing a even creepier moon glaring down on me would remind me how many days I have left! Bringing Twilight Princess graphics to Wind Waker would give the game a whole different feel. When it comes to the controls, I'd love to swing a Wii remote and slash some Iron Knuckles!

What do you think?

WW with TP graphics...what would be the point lol.

And I'm not fond of wii controls, I think the wii remote was a gimmicky awful idea and that few games have actually made it work well(like corruption! corruption is good).

I would absolutely not want TP graphics in any of those games. They have their own art styles that fit their games very well. Graphics on a TP level, but retaining the original style would be cool, though. OoT and MM do look dated, graphically. WW is fine, and should always be kept in its beautiful cel-shaded style.

As for Wii controls, I haven't played TP on the Wii, so I can't judge. I don't think it's necessary, though. What would be nice would be, in MM and OoT, especially OoT, to have all the sword moves from TP like the finishing strike and mortal draw. That's an upgrade I would like.

WW with TP graphics...?

That would .. be pointless. WW graphics are superior to TP's graphics for that game at least.. (not OOT/MM). WW graphics fit it's game, and are a pretty big defining point of it...

it wouldn't really be that splendid. As for MM / OOT though, it would be nice, but I just want a new Zelda game instead of a remake (i mean, they have both on the Virutal Console, nobody has to worry about not being able to find one anymore..)

Oot and MM are what I've been waiting for to be put into TP graphics. The reason it would work is for 2 reasons:

1) Those game were near its top as far as graphics came in their time. Why not make it better now?
2) Nintendo's sales would go up the roof.

As for WW, That game was specifically desined for the cell shaded art style, changeing its graphics in any shape or form would ruin over half the game.

I believe what you were looking for was: LoZ, AoL, ALttP, LA, OoT, MM, OoS, and OoA with Zelda Wii graphics - not TP. Anything after the Oracles should not be touched.

Spires suggestion makes me think. Would these games be better with the best graphics Nintendo can provide today? I'm not so sure that the answer is yes for all of them.

For the original Legend of Zelda game, you've got a large open world and a bunch of challenging dungeons. The combat is very simple, as is all controlling in the game. If the game were directly translated into 3D, I think it would lose something. I'm not talking a remake, which could have additions galore. I'm just thinking of the games in 3D. And I think the game would be worse off.

With Adventure of Link, if they kept all the gameplay intact, with the overhead overworld and the sidescrolling battles, towns, and dungeons, then the 3D would only be an aesthetic change. It might be pretty, but I don't think the game needs it.

ALttP would translate better into 3D, I think. While I would love them forever if they remade LA, I rather like the Game Boy games as being handhelds. I'd have them be remade for DS with PH-level graphics, though in more of an OoT-MM style.

I was thinking ACTUAL remakes, with expanded content, etc, so LoZ and AoL wouldn't be so bland. But no, with simple graphical enhancements, they would be worse off.

I don't know why Nintendo has not made a new Zelda with N64-style graphics for the DS. I don't know why.

Since we're talking old zelda game remakes and whether or not they should improve the graphics, I'm going to make a sound comment and say that if they were to do such a thing to LA I hope they leave the sound alone or don't change it too much, I think the chiptune style worked excellently for that game because all synthetic instruments have kind of a dreamy quality to them, I wouldn't want that games soundtrack to be totally replaced with samples...I think most zelda games are fine the way they are though, maybe the NES titles could get remade but that's about all IMO

Yes, I completely agree. Last time i've heard the DS is a bit better than a n64 console.

Now that the DSi is out i'm sure it's even more better than the n64 console

Better as in performance/power

All they've been putting up recently for the ds/dsi are Wind Waker graphics.

Yeah, the DS could definitely handle a N64-style Zelda game. The DS is way better than N64 graphically, and I'm pretty sure it's more powerful in general, too.

As for remaking old LoZ games with better graphics, I'm surprised is hasn't happened already. But as others have said, it won't happen to Wind Waker.

Wasn't there some sort of hoax about being able to get a graphically more realistic version of WW before?

Yes. Electronic Gaming Monthly pulled an April Fools joke in 2004(5?) for those that pre-ordered Twilight Princess, claiming they would get a free copy of Wind Waker rendered in the same graphics as TP.

I personally think Nintendo should remake OoT with Zelda Wii's controls, graphics, and gameplay. I'd also like to see a Boss Battle mode, which you are given a limited number of hearts to fight all of the bosses without getting game over. Supposedly you could collect a heart container after each boss that would add one heart to your energy and refill one heart.

I was so mad when I found out that that was a joke.

That would be amazing. I've always wanted to fight Ocarina of Time bosses again after their temple was over.

Qft.

WW rendered in TP graphics? My life would be fulfilled...

I hate Electronic Gaming Monthly now.

What would be the point of that though? WW had an amazing art style and it was unique, not the same bland 3 color palette like most 'modern' games are. Tbh, I didn't like TP graphics that much. Not enough to make it really stand out other than the twilight realm.

All but WW. That art style is cool.
I don't really want this for MM that games graphic style is just... I don't know but it makes the game better. Especially when my TV is on widescreen and I am playing the VC version.

I like WW's visual style, but in terms of color selection, it's a lot less varied than TP IMO, or many other more "realistic" games, this is of course natural when you're constantly staring at an endless ocean, but even in other area's it seems like the colors used were like...monochromatic...I like what okami did with cel shading a lot more, much more interesting.

I think the art style as well, but I'm interested in seeing what WW would look like in TP graphics.

Did WW have smoother 3-D models than TP?
From my experience, yes. There were also a lot of textural faults in TP too, which I didn't find too much from Wind Waker.

Wind Waker graphics are too gorgeous to be replaced.

edit: I don't know what the beef is with people on the Wii Remote.

I really want the next Zelda Wii to use Wii Motion Plus so the sword action can be a bit more realistic and the game actually reads your sword motion, like in the sword fight game in Wii Sports Resort.

Am I the only one that likes the Wii controls for TP on that note? :/
I mean, it's nice that they at least let us take out the pointer option in the game. It works out fine in the end.. ;_;

I just played the game today and the Wii Motion Plus surprised me. I liked it.

edit: yah I should post this in the Zelda Wii thread instead ;_; my bad.

I like the idea, just not the Wind Waker thing. WW's graphical style was one of the reasons why it was so great, or, different, anyway. Although the idea of an updated MM was awesome, and it would be interesting to see some new side dungeons added into MM. After, MM wasn't a very long game, good, but not very long.

no. If it's not broke don't fix it. I can't think of a remake that Nintendo made that actually surpassed the original.

I'd drop Zelda if they made everything like TP.

If they remade OoT or MM, it probably wouldn't be in TP style, but simply with better graphics. I'm sure they would stay true to their original style and feel.

WW would probably never get a remake, though.

Make it four days longer, and I'll be happy.

No. A full week for MM would be far too long. 3 days works perfectly. Otherwise, the side quests would be so long and convoluted, and would take forever. I know they considered the idea of the full week early on in development, I think, but they got rid of that for a good reason. A side dungeon would be fun though, but at this point, I'd say no meddling with the classics in terms of content.

I really do wish Nintendo would release a "perfected" version of OoT. Epic graphics, voice acting, and drastically increased difficulty would make my gamer life complete.

An option of drastically increased difficulty. What I mean by this is an option of playing the Original Quest, Master Quest, and a new incredibly challenging Expert's Quest, a lot like the difficulty option in FE: Radiant Dawn. Expert's Quest would be even harder than Master Quest but makes more sense (In other words, there are no cow heads in Jabu-Jabu's Belly). The enemies may be a bit powered up, not as in damage, but simply more of a challenge to fight (they may be faster or have more intelligent AI).

Voice acting, huh? If it's done right, then yes. If it's done like F-Zero GX, I could live without it.

aside from like MGS most voice acting I've seen done in games is terrible and detracts from the experience, and even some MGS characters I just want yell OMG SHUT THE **** UP
