You can quit, attend a tournament to hang out with people, to record, and run the tournament, but not enter nor play friendlies and it will still count as quitting since you are not actually playing the game. :)

Smash is a ******** social scene.

Just think about it, if you would. Most of you are complete and utter losers in the, "real world". You find solace in the embrace of other *******, who just happen to like a really good game, and then rank each other in your social niche based on who beats who the most. And to really prove your skills, you enter in a tournament! Real ****ing sweet. Now that you beat everyone, you can have them suck your **** and gather them for "good times" at your friend's place (he's pseudo cool too, only because he too is a social loser, but has a good job working at some company like oracle which almost deems him socially acceptable only tarnished by the fact that he is not comfortable with himself in public, thus being awkward, and most likely has no idea how to talk to women or has ever talked to one besides his mother) cause you're so ****ing awesome at this video game! The stupid part is, however, that it works for all of you. You don't care if you've never pleased a woman with your sturdy man part, you can beat your friend in fox dittos! That's what counts and that's all that matters to you.

So, how do you quit? You get a life.

this whole situation is a complete fabrication. Think about what you're asking.. you're essentially asking how to "officially" quit smash. As if officially quitting held any meaning at all, as if anyone cared whether you were officially playing the game or not, as if you even could "officially" quit the game.

Nobody is asking themselves, "omg did player X quit, he went to that one tourney does that count? omg he went to a smashfest why doesnt he go to tourneys maybe he quit!"

nintendoking either ur a good troller or a ******* either way thats all im saying on that

and kira i think ur missing the point of the thread in the first place, when most ppl quit they do so bc of the community. however thr are ppl who just move on but they still like the community, so whether or not no1 cares that player X still plays, they would care that player X wont be seen (btw i miss u :p)

i think if you're just going to an local smashfest and checking up the boards but not going to any tournaments at all I wouldn't consider you active at all. Some people just wanna enjoy the game with other people for fun. If you're attending like every tournament then yeah I consider you active but sadly that's just me tho.

What's also sad is that there are some people who say "hey didn't you quit?" when someone that's not active just ask a small question about the community like hey I just wanna play m2k, is DSW in town etc. I used to be like that to Julian Kao (which I'm very very very sorry for acting like that toward you and I won't do that again) I had to stop doing that because I realize it's a douche bag move to do and I remember why me and him are playing this game to have fun.

Bleh I'm saying too much kinda off topic.

I am profoundly saddened by this, but I will say it is also profoundly hard to keep up with smash, wrestling, and friends =3=

if you are concerned with whether you qualify for having 'quit' or not, then you haven't quit yet. at the most you'd probably be considered 'inactive'.

i haven't been to a tournament since genesis and i don't consider myself to have quit this game. hell i don't even think i've been to a real smashfest this year either, but if the situation presents itself i would probably play smash.

smash is like any other skill or hobby. you might not touch it for a while, but it doesn't mean you'll never go back to it.

those who quit just fade away and stop thinking about/playing the game altogether. this also includes forgetting the community and not partaking in any media related to the game (vids).

sounds pretty sad to me =T

Yes, Andymosity. I'm sure you really kick *** at smash.

Oh look, your occupation in your profile says "smoking trees". Well you sure kick *** at humor, if you're half as good at smash as you are funny I'm sure it won't belong until smashers are having nightmares about the name Andymosity showing up in their pool.

Maybe you should think.

First of all, you gotta learn how to read. I said kick *** at the things I do and PLAY smash. MEANING: One can still be good at other aspects in life besides smash without QUITTING (not being allowed to play at smashfests/tourneys, etc.) I wasn't judging smash skill level. There's no videos of me, so yeah, of course you're going to believe that I completely suck and go ahead and do so. I'd raaaape you though. I'm **** good. Also, what does my profile occupation have to do with anything? I don't even... *sighs at your major fail attempt*
Anyway, the point is that having a social life and playing smash at smashfests, or tournaments, is not necessarily a trade-off. Smash is a great game. Keep playing Kevin!

First of all, you gotta learn how to cook. I said bake *** at the things I do and sauté smash. MEANING: One can still be good at other aspects in cooking besides smash without FRYING (not being allowed to flambé at smashfests/tourneys, etc.) I wasn't judging culinary skill level. There's no videos of me, so yeah, of course you're going to believe that I completely suck and go ahead and do so. I'd raaaape you though. I'm **** good. Also, what does my profile occupation have to do with anything? I don't even... *sighs at your major fail attempt*
Anyway, the point is that having a baking life and playing smash at smashfests, or tournaments, is not necessarily a trade-off. Cooking Mama is a great game. Keep playing Kevin!

well obviously both of us are gonna think we can beat each other at smash. we'll probably never end up playing, so yeah... *end of my reply to your pointless reply to my successful troll-claim that i would **** you*

This is where thinking helps, Frotaz.
