Meowth seems to get a more support by the Pokemon games, maybe it is a good time for Meowth to become the first ever Pokeball-to-Fighter since Charizard was.

That’s what I have been asking for for the past 20 years (1999 - 2019).

sometimes i get the feeling someone at the pokemon company is trying to send sakurai that message "Look meowth id still and anime and has a tone of new stuff in the games and is totally relevant perfect for smash" and then sakurai says "nah"


i am looking forward to the high chance of ash's pikachu and tr meowth in a gigantimax battle

It is almost as if Nintendo and Pokémon Company are trying to tell Sakurai to add Toad and Meowth/Team Rocket in Smash.

Toad has been getting starring roles in main Mario games since 2009 (after Brawl) and Meowth and Team Rocket have been getting some love in Pokémon games since 2016 (after SSB4).

Blame Sakurai's recent tendencies with Pokemon newcomers. However, if A. They want to make another Pokemon playable via DLC and B. They're sticking to the "new demographics" stuff, we can't really get Greninjaroar 3.0. This wouldn't guarantee that Meowth would be playable, but still.

My most wanted Spirits to be playable are:
1. Bandana Dee (Kirby series, to complete the Return to Dreamland Team with Kirby, Dedede and Meta Knight already being in Smash.)
2. Shake King (Wario series, this guy is so underrated.)

This right here is a good point. We all want change as far as how Pokemon characters are picked. Than the same recent characters all the time.

Maybe "new audience" isn't as good of a term as "different audience from Sakurai's more recent Pokemon picks".

Consider the days in which Pokemon did get multiple newcomers per game:



The two newcomers each game got invoke the feeling of appealing to different crowds each. And if pra_mai happened to actually be Plusle and Minun, that'd be appealing to a different crowd than PT and Lucario.

thing is though the smash team probably see any pokemon character as appealing to the whole pokemon crowd and dont think of them as separate groups of people who stopped playing the games years ago but still have nostalgia for them, newcomers to the series who would be more familiar to the newer pokemon and those of us who have stuck with the games through out and have favourites in each gen

thus far though weve got 6 who are in on popularity, 2 cases of roster padding who are also popular, 1 whos popularity rose after smash(or due to smash) so we havent done that bad

I was interested in seeing what The Last Story would get if it were to be revived. but after seeing the terra battle story for it i just wished Zael and Calista kept their happy ending.

I would argue that some of these series are not dead, especially money makers like Brain Age.

But it is a decent result for the fans of these beloved dead series. F-Zero, Golden Sun, Sin & Punishment, Starfy, and many others did not do too bad.

Pass 2 is the sky and there is a small chance we pass past this limit. Only time will tell.

The Nintendo Mini direct confirmed that Arms is getting a new fighter as challenger pack 6 after being cut from the base roster, if it is the one who was already a assist or a spirit, we're good to go!
