NOTE: This is not where to discuss the character match ups. This is purely an index in which to link all the previous character discussion threads together for future and present reference.



Hello all. Here within this thread I wish to collaborate an accurate and informative compilation of character match up statistics for Marth. Each and every week, we will review a new character to discuss, and a synopsis on the good, bad, and strategies against for that character will be summarized in one qualitative post once the week is finished prior to choosing yet a new match up. I encourage everyone of you to contribute and post intelligently. If you feel your points are valid, please elaborate as to why, and give full detail into what it is you need to explain. Once a match up has been reviewed, I will keep a link of the thread and synopsis here, as well as one in the match up section of this guide.

Yeah wait wtf why is the metaknight stickied is panda planning to sticky every week ><.

Either the index should be stickied or not stickied at all... but regardless I added it into my thread under Super Important Threads

Yep good idea.
Actually I sent a PM to him to stick when we started the discussions.
One week and half later he sticked the wrong thread due us spliting the discussion in threads, but its not our fault lol.
Maybe more two weeks to unstick the Meta discussion? lol xD

Because that'll seem much more reasonable than the MK discussion be the only one stick-ified.

Instead of dicussing R.O.B you should discuss toon link I just got back from a tourny (I won the whole thing all marth) and in the grand finals I played a toon link and for some reason it was kind of difficult. Toon link is a very underused character that should really be discussed ASAP!

Also when playing robot stay close to him and always attack and use shield pressure when doing that constantly he soon becomes rendered helpless and starts to roll all over the place and once he starts to roll follow him and punish him for it :)

TL and Marth go even IMO, so I'm not shocked that you had trouble.

Yea in a way I figured they were even but toon link seems lightweight but seemed to stay alive just as long as marth did that's one of the reasons its was harder to fight TL and not to mention the constant arrows and boomerangs and bombs not so much of the bombs bcuz u can catch them and glide toss to a f smash or grab but when you both don't want to lose a stock and don't want to give up anything it takes a lot of time and becomes difficult to land ko moves

What's more annoying than TL? Another Marth.

There was 3 other Marths in the tourney today and I played them all in the first 3 rounds >< and one of them definitely read your stuff EL cause he was patient as hell.

Marth needs some sort of grab release on himself...

Lol I 3 stocked every marth I played in the tourny I was in yesterday :bee:

IMO, Falco should also be discussed sooner than later. I think a lot of it is just who is quicker to smash attacks because even though a lot of falco's I fought, (and i'm basing this off the only tournament I have been to haha) come in close and smash as opposed to keep spacing to use reflectors and lasers, and they normally end up hitting and trying to spike. I'm just not too sure.

U should try to stay close enough to falco so that he's not able to shoot lasers BUT u should also while in that range sometimes try to anticipate him throwing his reflector. After he throws it and you shelid it rush in to punish him. Always try and keep pressure on him with well spaced F-airs this will do 2 things 1) it will stop him from shooting lasers and 2)you will start to notice a pattern in his evasive attempts he will either a) start to dodge a lot which can be easily punished with sword dance or for a more advanced approach u can wait till his dodge animation is almost over and f-smash or b) he will start to roll a lot which can be punish with sword dance, grabs, or retreating f-airs. Also if you are within two grabs from the edge and falco is at zero you can f-throw, f-throw, d-air for a quick zero to death kill on falco. Keep in mind that after hitting falco with the down air use your second jump to gently grab onto the edge to prevent falco from recovering. That's about all that I can think of offhand but if you need more help I'll be glad to
