Watching Vids

I've always found that when watching YT singles videos, I find myself focusing on one of the players (generally the better-known one or the one I'm rooting for)--as if I'm playing for them, as it were; I'm focused on their character and moves. Generally, this means that I notice more clearly how they space, the stuff they do (for instance, I'll always pick up on their shield-drops but not on their opponent's) and how cool their combos are. Anyone else do this?

Anyways, I recently started watching all of the good videos (i.e. WF's, LF's, GF's) twice, once from each perspective, and I've been getting a lot more out of them. It helps even more in teams, because when there are two fights going on at once I'm usually totally oblivious to one of them; it's as if I missed literally half of the match.

I recommend it for anyone who doesn't pick up on everything both players are pulling on the first time through.

What do y'all think?

I think it might be quite normal, I've also sometimes watched videoes twice when I'm interested in picking up stuff/analysing both players. It wouldn't be dumb if I did that more often really..

I tend to focus on 1 players if he is dominant, regional bias, main the same char as me or just a cool char to watch, etc

But if it's like Dr PP vs Mango falco dittos I swap my focus to whoever is ****** the other one at the time

I don't really analyze videos alot though, I mainly watch them for fun

Depends on my interest in the match. I'm usually pretty good at looking at both players but sometimes (recently, S2jvs Westballz) there's so much **** going on that I have to look at it twice.

I tend to analyze both unless there is a Marth on screen. Then suddenly the I switch to self insert mode.

Basically from then on I am Marth in place of the other Marth and I watch the opponent and in that state I compare options, choices....etc. Basically it's how I improve my game...although at least mentally. Still have to execute it later on but thats where practice comes in..

I find it really hard to watch from the other player's perspective when ever they are playing against me in the video :p

for some reason, I always root for myself ;)

It depends. Sometimes I watch both players intently, and other times (especially when there's a good Falcon onscreen), I'll focus on one player and watch what he does the entire match. If a match is really even or crazy stuff is coming out from both players, I usually watch the video twice and try to get both of the player's perspectives.

I normally watch the player i think is better but also will see what they are doing wrong and right in order to start a combo or they make a mistake and there opponent gets a combo on them.
